Really annoys me when I read "residents concern over noise level", The track was there before they bought their new home. If they had any concerns then WHY buy your new home where you know there will be noise from sports.5 points

As a Redcar fan. I hope Newcastle do not finish bottom of the league, we need Northern teams to be up where we belong, at the top.3 points

The 1-7 isn’t the team I would have picked but at the end of the day surely it’s not just about wether the averages fit but if the finances fit as well. I’m not having a go at what other supporters think the team should have been but no one knows what the club has had to pay to secure the services of both Robert and Cookie and surely there has to be a limit as to what the club can pay out in wages. Personally if it was a choice of spending silly money and winning the league or have what I call a reasonable team and be still have a team to support every week I would chose reasonably good team every time. Having said it’s not the team I would have picked I do believe that every rider can easily up their 2019 average and I’ll be there every week supporting the team 100%3 points

Hans is not the rider he was and probably will never be again. But on his current average it would be madness not to sign him.3 points

Again, how many sports pride themselves on such meaningful names as "Best Pairs", "Revenge World Championship", "Overseas Final", and "Speedway of Nations"?2 points

FIM used to present medals at all their events, not sure if they still so but as they have run offs for their events I assume they do! I am still pretty sure the 1968 and the 1969 Pairs are NOT recognised as World Finals. But as I said before, I would like to be proven wrong. I have BOTH programmes and they mention World Championship nowhere!2 points

he broke a shoulder in Denmark but came back too quickly to ride in the GP quakifer at GLasgow. Won his first heat but stopped in his 2nd as the pain was too much. Then had a terrible crash where he hit his head bad at Peterborough and came back too soon before making a hole in the back straight fence at the same track I doubt he rode many meetings without injury or lack of confidence. All 3 were big offs.2 points

Yes, which means it went from official to unofficial and then seemingly back to official again! I think it's only a few years ago that they decided that 1969 was official after all! Like Steve, I'm sure I saw it somewhere - would be interesting to know where! Mauger always included it in his tally - as far as he was concerned, he had the medal so it counted!2 points

Interestingly, Peter Oakes book, "The Complete History of the British League", has this in reverse. He says, "The 1969 World [Pairs] Final is no longer recognised by the FIM even though gold medals were awarded at the time."2 points

Hartel deserves a chance, but I would of probably gone with Spud Summers, who knows all the tracks from the off, and would be a a very solid reserve. Looking at the finished team, i'm not impressed tbh. TJ, Erik and Lewis averaged just 13.18 between them on the road, but a big 21.68 at home. What do they do... Keep them all. Replace MPT with Ty and bring in Hartel. Looks like they have no ambition at all. The engine room will be the problem again away from the AFA. Away from home, if Lambert and Cookie get 20 between them( they didn't last season), Erik, TJ and Lewis get last seasons 13, that's 33 from the top 5. Don't leave us much chance on the road.. again. Our top 2 are ok and the reserves should be ok, with scope to change if needed. For me it's the engine room again... I hope i'm proved wrong, but I was bang on before a wheel had turned last season, in saying the Stars will get nothing on the road. I will still go, pick n choose my meetings, and I wish them all the best. I'll try and cheer up by this evening2 points

Even with a ten point start in every meeting, Newcastle will finish bottom comfortably - I hope they don't get too battered as their notoriously fickle fans will just stay away...2 points

Fixture lists will be released in next few weeks I believe - will be some really exciting early season action to look forward to with the proposed test match GB Vs Rest of the World (featuring Nicki P maybe?), then we have the GP Qualifier in May (who would you like to see at Glasgow?) and, of course, the now annual slaying of the Monarchs too - bring it on!2 points

Edinburgh to walk it and muller the weej in the championship final. Masters is the strongest rider in the league by a distance IMO. Cook has had his day.2 points

Never use to be.Back in the day so to speak everyone use to like coming to Lynn because there was always a chance of getting an away win.Only when it became really grippy did we get plenty of advantage as away riders couldn't cope and basically bottled it.By all accounts they are making it less grippy next season. Will this go against our home advantage?1 point

Oh boy. This is twice this week that I've broken the unwritten rule (one of mine at least), that you don't quote your own posts. Are Edinburgh/Armadale going to sign one or two riders to ride for their newly launched team, some time soon?1 point

The brutal honest truth is the BSPA don't like "ghost" teams. Now that Cradley have gone they have probably put their foot down. That said they still seem happy enough to take the £300? or whatever it is now for these teams to enter the development league's. It used to be on the grounds that they had 1 year to find a venue. If Reading have land fair play to them. I hope it goes well. But some of these "ghost" teams have absolutely no chance in finding land and even if they did it would probably be financial suicide. If my memory serves me right no new track (if we take Belle Vue out) has opened since Kent in 2013? That is a long time. There would always be a new track opening up every other year until the turn of the last decade. On the subject of Ghost teams how did Lakeside and Rye House get away with calling their joint NL team Hackney a few years ago?1 point

Andersen if in a good team as a third heatleader with two riders above him would average 7.5 I reckon. Put him at 1 or 5 and he would average around 6-6.5.1 point

I think Steve Roberts is correct - I'm sure the FIM declared that the 1969 World Pairs championship was official a few years ago. It would be nice to find a source for that. I don't think the 1968 event has ever been considered official. It had no semi-finals, only six teams in the final, including two West German teams, and many of the top nations were not present. In '69, there were two semi-finals and a final, with seven teams in the final. The only difference to 1970 was that there were six teams in the semi-finals in '69 and seven in '70.1 point

You only need to look at the ahem.. "untruths and misinformation" emanating from Brandon Estates to see what the sport is up against when dealing with the greedy developers.1 point

I seem to remember one against Oxford in the 1995 season when R/R for Sergei Kuzin was doing us proud, and we'd had difficulty assembling a team, and we'd been roundly criticised by the Oxford promotion at the away meeting previously, and the roof nearly went off when he won the run off for the bonus point. I remember the Alan Grahame one well, how Big Al was excluded for that one I'm still not sure, but he was almost as angry as Sean Wilson afterwards!! I also have a vague recollection of being at Newcastle one night when everyone was having to phone the referee from the start line phone, as Barry Wallace announced that Roman had smashed the pits phone1 point

Would have much rather seen Aaron Summers or Josh Pickering take the final place. I'll reserve judgement on Hartel till at least he's had a chance to show what he can do, but overall doesn't look like a great side1 point

A reminder that tomorrows final round from Gillman is being streamed live at the MA website here https://www.australianspeedwaychampionships.com.au/live/ Meeting starts at 9am UK time coverage starts at 8.45am UK time Saturday morning. Should be a good battle for the overall silver and bronze rostrum places( 2 from 4)- Gold looks to be in Fricke`s hands !!1 point

Spoke to some people "in the know" this is not a new application, this is just a renewal of the previous permission to develop the site. Part of the plans state it cant be built on until extra schools are built in the area, and there are none planned for anytime soon. So whilst there is a sword over the clubs head, I get the impression that there is no imminent risk of closure.1 point

Away from the Showground? That showing at Swindon was nigh on embarrassing. He has commitments in all the major leagues as well as GP’s, he’s definitely NOT a rider you can rely on in the UK.1 point

Not really, since I do not accept Wikipedia as fact and nor should anyone even if it agrees with what you think. Nothing like doing your own research and getting the real facts! Someone can make 1968 and 69 Pairs Finals as World Finals in seconds........1 point

Looks like a Monarchs v Motherwell meeting, but part the way through it seems a couple of rider are wearing Ashfield Giants colours. Recognise Jack Young ,and some kids copying their heroes at the end. Great film https://movingimage.nls.uk/film/58531 point

Don't like your humour in the last sentence. If you have a problem take it up direct. With the Break-in, I believe the toe rags stole a generator , all the blowers, a couple of bikes and set fire to the contents of a container. I was briefly involved in a serious attempt to relaunch the Rockets last year. The situation is far more optimistic than people might think. We had agreement to run at one point before a change of mind by BMR. Looking on now from the sidelines and having seen the demolition work at the stadium I suspect once the work is completed that speedway will be back. It's far too easy to spread doom and gloom on this forum, often based on honest opinion but lacking in direct knowledge or involvement. If you do have such knowledge then I will bow to it. If not, it does no good to spread despair at the situation. I'd say it all depends on the exit of BMR from the stadium and the kart people wanting to put their new asset to its most logical use.. Now, back to matters Kentish.1 point

I would have thought that a league with the word development in it's title, would welcome any opportunity for more youngsters to enter the sport. And retaining a homeless fan base, albeit a small one, is surely desirable.1 point

I went to the test between England and USSR on the 27/07/ 74 at Swindon Steve .Vladimir scoring 13pts spoiling Ashby's 18 pt maximum and Valeri scoring 0 England won 66/41 Kuzmin 10pts and the talented Khlinovsky 11 pts also rode.In 1976 the fixture you spoke of the Robins won 47/31 Khlinovsky again scoring 8 pts Victor Trofimov scoring only four pts from reserve they were great events .1 point
