Forums are for debate Rob. So as fans we should fight because the people we would be fighting for seemingly couldn’t run a piss up in a brewery? It isn’t the job of the fans to save the sport, it is the job of the people running the sport to save the sport. For. The. Fans. No fans, no sport. It amuses me that anyone who doesn’t agree with your opinion is apparently trying to “be clever” and trying to put people off the sport. How about some reasoned debate as opposed to toy throwing.5 points

Do you deny that people are dying or are going to die early because they did not get their cancer diagnosis / treatment because the hospitals effectively shut due to lockdown? We all know that early diagnosis and treatment is essential in tackling this disease. Yet because of this lockdown which you think has been so great, 2.5 million patients are now in the logjam caused by this delay. This was known at the lockdown, you don't have to be a medical expert to realise what would happen and now countless thousands will die prematurely over the next few years, dwarfing the Covid numbers. A percentage of these will be young people as well. And that's not counting other serious illnesses and conditions that also had their treatments stopped. The only thing missing from Johnson's lockdown speech was the black cap that he should have been wearing as he knowingly passed a sentence of death on thousands of innocent people. And again to re-iterate Bwitcher's valid point, unless someone can credibly explain how the lockdown made the Covid numbers plummet yet did nothing to another virus transmitted in exactly the same way, then the lockdown's "success"' story is totally blown out of the water.4 points

Again, you're making things up and trying to present them as fact when they aren't. It's already been explained to you multiple times that deaths involving flu, which spreads in EXACTLY the same way haven't been falling for the past few months. So it's clear, that lockdown, masks, distancing etc has not effected the transmission of a virus. Sweden, which has a very different policy to our own has seen the exact same pattern occur with Covid-19 deaths. In fact their deaths have reduced significantly more than ours now. If you 'for one' feel that 1 death is too many then you are advocating a lockdown for life.3 points

Anyone who quits the BSF over a difference of opinion, must have very thin skin. I've had plenty of digs aimed at me over the years, and i couldn't give a monkeys. The forum's purpose is to debate, not to agree with everything someone might say, wether that be positive or negative.2 points

Once again, I found your RESPONSE amusing. You're utterly obsessed with Covid and the 'facts' you continually post. Many of these 'facts' are purely your opinion. But you tell us we're not allowed to have an opinion...unless it matches yours of course.2 points

Driving through a country is fine. Stopping to refuel and pay by card at the pump is fine. As long you don't stop and socialise.2 points

Always reminds me years ago when "Webbo" (whatever happened to him?) and me used to have some right 'ding dongs' on the old Oxford Speedway Forum and when we eventually met up in person we got on like a house on fire! A great bloke.2 points

Certainly! As a matter of interest, how many open meetings did Poole have in their "non League" season? A poster mentions Middlesbrough on the "lost" list but Redcar is in all but name Middlesbrough speedway. I believe the Redcar name is used because the track is situated in Redcar just outside the Middlesbrough boundary and is a nod to the Redcar authorities who allowed the speedway facility there to be built. Certainly another track in Middlesbrough wouldn't be built in opposition to Redcar! Is Iwade speedway still open for practice sessions? My own personal viewpoint on the future of speedway in this Country is that eventually with land prices and poor crowds the sport will continue to decline until the professional League(s) will be down to about 10 teams at the most. Then any other tracks still about will all ride in an amateur, grassroots, low cost League and thats where seeds of growth can appear. Their is an urban myth among many that top level racing is the be all and end all but that isn't the case. Quite often lower level racing can provide more interest than the top level where riders make less mistakes and are too fast to overtake. Speedway in East Anglia is a prime example cause Mildenhall speedway in the 3rd Division more often than not provides better value for money than its two top neighbouring tracks King's Lynn and Ipswich. Indeed Lynn and Ipswich who have long traditions of staging top flight racing have had resurgences after dropping down into 2nd Division racing. Hopefully one day sports venues will have more protection from the government if those in power will ever recognise the importance of having outlets for the population. Venues like Exeter, Cradley, Coventry, Arena Essex to name but a few should have had preservation orders on them ensuring their survival as sports venues.2 points

To see if what he posts on here he'd say to my face? Nothing schoolboy about it at all, just common decency... I've been called a cretin, an idiot & stupid by this bully and the sick comments about the death of my father... But if you want to stick up for the bully and join in with the name calling that's your choice. Just take a look back through his posts to see what an aggressive bully he is to a lot of people2 points

Trouble is there is a lot of repetition on the forum...which I guess many of us are guilty but it can get tedious sometimes especially when some posts come across as patronising and personal in content.2 points

A lot of things there you just don't see anymore, Middlesbrough for one, touring foreign teams, riders sharing a fag in the pits and most missed of all, by me, a rider wearing a neckerchief!2 points

You've missed the point. I'm assuming the rules will be similar. In which case Vissing doesn't get a Visa because he hasn't reached the Danish Championship Final. Smetana is currently fourth in the 'erzatsz' Czech Championship, and that might be enough. Skorja will be in top 3 of Slovenian Champ (unless something very odd happens) so ought to qualify for a Visa.2 points

Yes, in the countries which have been fortunate enough to have low case numbers. Look at the highly populated countries, it's a very different story in those! Lockdown (on whatever level it's imposed) saves lives, that is a FACT not my opinion. On that note my children are calling so farewell for now1 point
-
You seem to have trouble understanding what a 'fact' is. That is your opinion, not a fact. A fact is something that has happened and can be proven. Lockdown isn't a worldwide thing as you keep claiming. There have been differing levels of restrictions applied around the world, with some barely locking down at all. These 'much, much higher deaths' haven't occurred.1 point

Good ride from Dudek in ht13 Somehow I smell a 45 45 draw looming Vaculik not at the races this afternoon1 point

Seems to me the Extraleague is becoming more entertaining as the riders are settling to the current conditions and precautions - having been no-hopers I could see Gorzow having a late run to the play-offs and Leszno are looking beatable at last - loving the coverage, well done to Dave Goddard for filling the considerable gaps and thanks to racers and royals for keeping us updated with the excellent programmes.1 point

Well if you do meet face to face you'll have to be prepared to quarantine for 14 days on your return thanks to the wonderful lockdown that you're such a fan of.1 point

Little chance of that. The days when sports venues were used and appreciated by a large proportion of the population are long gone. With demand for land so high, and houses needed desperately, sport will be one of the last things on any government's mind.1 point

Yeah I went the once, really enjoyed it and the thing I remember about it the most was that they had a type of "Briggo Wonder Wheel" years before Briggo came up with the idea. Wasn't the track at the A66/A19 intersection?1 point

Sorry but there was lots of social distancing. I suppose you personally know all the groups of friends and relatives that can legitimately stand together? A good proportion of supporters (presumably more at risk folk ) were also wearing masks. Certain clubs are trying hard to give supporters some form of Speedway, give them credit ,rather than just knocking their efforts.1 point

Of course. I have been in direct talks with the PZM and have told them in no uncertain terms that the standard of racing this season has been unacceptable. Swalamir Krazprcynski, secretary to the president of PZM has stated that they are doing all they possibly can to rectify the issues “of crap racing” and have apologised to me personally for the sub standard tracks, and efforts put in by certain riders. I have been assured that I will notice a certain rise in standard of racing for the remainder of the season and if I am dissatisfied, can expect a full refund of my subscription to Goldvod..1 point

Good to know he's not too bad. I feared the worst after he hit that lamp standard. A little confused by the report saying he should not touch a toad is toad touching a thing in Sweden? I'm sure it got lost in translation1 point

The latest radio propaganda sorry 'advert' from the government is a cafe owner who at the end says ' we must all follow the guidelines to stay open'. Now I take this a veiled threat that if you don't do as you are told then we are all back on the naughty step. When is anybody going to stand up to this dictatorship?1 point

I was at the World Long Track final at New Plymouth - New Zealand & went along to Ivan Maugers pre-event presentation at a local hotel. From my understanding of his statements he was not a fan of the GP series & much prefered the one off system. He said he liked the idea of waking up on new years day with a motor cycle, a licence to race & a dream to be the World Champion at the end of the year & that would not be possible in the GP series. He also dismissed finals saying that if you score full points in your 5 rides beating all the other racers in the event why should you risk loosing the title in a winner take all final. This statement was to carry a heavy weight as Kelvin Tatum led the championship going into the final, He was leading the final until his bike failed entering the final lap & he was passed by his greatest rival Gerd Riss who went on to win the race & the title while KT hunched over his machine on the infield.1 point

Ivan is IMO the greatest rider of all time with Hans a close second both would have dominated the series at the respective times of their career's .I still think that Ivan set the bar for all those that have come after him his influence was nothing but positive in attitude ,machinery ,personal well being and team player (when it suited ) .1 point

F1 has been classified as "Elite" though... Speedway (Domestic at least) has not. It makes me smile when people say Do whatever it is next year... unfortunately there's no guarantee that we'll be in any different situation by this time next year.1 point
