OK, two examples: Laguta has 14 points entering the semi-finals. His reward for taking a further two wins is another 6 points. Lindgren has 7 points entering the semi-finals. His reward for a second and a third is another 9 points. That's nuts! If it ain't broke, don't fix it with a sledgehammer!

Previously every point counted towards the title. According to Bellamy to ensure the riders keep riding throughout the meeting they change it so now they don't. I work with kids with Severe Learning difficulties and even they would see flaws in that logic.

A vote of thanks to Steve Shovlar for putting the SGP stream on the forum.. Its the only way I could see it. Hopefully he will put the stream up tomorrow as well. Thanks Steve

Don’t think many riders or fans thought that the system needed changed.

THE last race of the meeting should always determine the winner. Gary Havelock won his World title in Heat 17 ... the last three races were pointless. After several different systems over the years, the most recent prior to tonight worked just fine.

It will be like Crumpy and Pedersen slow racing so neither won a race.. Why do they piss about with something that doesn't need pissing about with..? If they didn't want the rider who wins a GP doing it by scoring less than another rider who ultimately didn't win it, then just give bigger extra points in the final. .

ONLY a hint ... don't understand the FIM argument to formalise all systems of scoring across the various disciplines. Speedway is different. Accept it and move on.

On the contrary, in F2, points are awarded in EACH race - in the feature race on the Saturday and the sprint race on Sunday. In the British Touring Car series, if there's three races, points are awarded for each of them. Same in virtually every motorsport discipline - points are awarded in every race. Speedway has now gone out on a limb.

HE can now. When he won the GP Challenge at Vojens many moons ago he only spoke Russian and we had no chance with the interview. Really nice guy. Had a tough time in the SGP early on but has come back so well.

Very true... A very simple sport seemingly ran with great difficulty by very simple people..

You ride your balls off scoring points head to head against every other rider in the meeting and then end up scoring less points than you already have scored... And then go home with less points than someone you have already scored more than... Makes sense that...

I'd love Lindgren to win this now, not because I'm a fan, but just to highlight what an utter farce it is.

As has been stated elsewhere, Ipswich has a much bigger outdoor seating area and it should also be noted that Greater Manchester is currently a Covid hot-spot, where local authorities might not be happy to have a 'test event' on their door-step.

I would imagine that Speedway's popularity in Poland is similar to how it was in England in the 1970's. Nationwide coverage on World of Sport, second most popular spectator sport in the country, front page of the Daily Mirror when Peter Collins won the World title. But still you would find many people who had no idea what it was.

I've worked with a good few Poles in recent years and they might not actually have been fans of the sport (generally weren't, being from non speedway cities), but they certainly knew what the sport was and who Gollob was...I'm not sure that I would believe that someone selling motorcycling badges in Poland would not know the sport...but, hey, someone else's anecdote is as valid as mine, so maybe it's true

F1 has 1 race per event, F2 has 2 races per event, British Touring Cars has 3 races per event, a Speedway Grand Prix has 23 races per event. Each used to award points per race - speedway is now the odd one out.

Scoring system a joke!!! Who finished 5th ? Biggest winner Lindgren plus 6. Should be 10 pts back but only 4 away from Laguta. 3 riders scored 5 pts. Who gets the most `silly system` points. Nothing explained on tv. Even the on screen scorers had Madsen down as 16th!!! SGP have had an extra 3 months to sort out & no one knows. Tatum & Pearson don`t know & just laugh about it. For the fan watching for the first time this system is a shambles & so confusing. Mark my words there will be a big accident in one of these semi-finals with riders go for gaps that are not there. Lindgren was lucky with his move into turn 3. That`s why they changed the system in the past because too many riders were getting injured.

As I said a couple of weeks ago, Doyle’s light has dimmed. Won’t make the qualification spots at the end of the series. Not sure he deserves a wild card.

Holder has been excellent this year for Gorzow but it should be remembered he is a couple of years older than Lambert Which is pretty significant for younger riders IMO (ie 25 and under). Robert was sensational up to winning the SEC including his starting but it seems he has gone off the boil a little since then....maybe the SEC was his main focus and winning it has taken its toll on him mentally. Can’t be easy riding in a poor team every week either. Rather than picking too many bones out of his performance tonight I’d say scoring ten away from home in Poland is pretty good for a young Brit against much more experienced riders. It’s commonplace for good riders to get blown away in the extraliga here and there so I wouldn’t dwell on it too much if I were him.
