  1. ‘ is anyone losing interest ‘ asks the title ?, well no as you ask. I find the ‘ sport ‘ fascinating now as individual promoters find their own interpretation of the rules ( are there any now ?). Having seen Poole’s and now Birmingham’s line ups for there next matches I am constantly entertained. A facility granted for a rider who hasn’t ridden for you when that was against the rules but now isn’t ?. A guest for an ‘ injured ‘ rider ( injured in this country allegedly )who is now riding in his own country but not here ? I used to think I understood most of the rules but not any more. I don’t think we can call speedway a sport for much longer as sports have rules, not guidelines to be used to increase an advantage for some but not all.

  2. Bjarne has been a fantastic servant to british speedway. What a fine season he is having.

  3. I like Lewis Kerr and he always comes across as a decent guy. It's riders like him that are making the British Leagues tick at the moment so good luck to him and if he was to achieve a rostrum place in the British Final I think it would mean a hell of a lot to him.

  5. Personally I think that it was in doubt from Friday evening so I wouldn't have been surprised if it was called off irrespective of the forecast. I think I've lost the point you're trying to make though. They had to make a call on the circumstances and information they had. So based on that it was correct decision. So you're saying that if you were paying the bills and doing the organisation you'd have waited until Monday (you've got until lunchtime I believe before losing your money), ignored the forecast and hoped that no unexpected showers crop up between 12 & 7.30 to further dampen you're already sodden circuit?

  6. Special one--off arrangements with rules and regs apply for this season.

  7. But that would involve Keleher being in the line up of both teams!

  8. Scotty, Bomber and Rory are the "official" guest riders for the BSP I think... The rules must state that you have to ask them first... Given they ride for so many teams each season, surely they deserve a winners medal come play off time, regardless of whether their own team reaches the final or not..? Maybe they would even qualify for a runners up medal too.?.. Joking apart, all three give 100% every meeting which must make them the "go to" riders for the promoters, and meetings with any of the three in attendance are usually the better for it..

  10. There is difference of opinion between two commentators, Tomasz Gollob in the studio and Miroslaw Jablonski at the track(both ex riders). Gollob saw Kenneth fault and Jablonski did not.

  11. don’t think the refs got a clue holder goes straight to run pedersen wide no problem. Pedersen cuts back again no problem think the problem was there was not enough room for all 3 just riders all going for it would have put everyone back in

  13. As a Farmer’s wife I totally understand any business following the Forecasts - it’s what we do 24/7. 365 days per year. It just becomes part and parcel of daily life - part of calculating what we do or don’t do each day - the other thing not mentioned which we follow (not sure about the Eoes but they may do so) is the Water Table - this year is exceptional and first time in over 30 years that we are not irrigating any crops and it’s the MIDDLE OF JULY - this a job that has usually been going on for weeks by this time of the summer. I doubt its hardly any different for Buster & Co so my feeling is that they made the right call - I would actually have been shocked if it had been on!

  15. Haven't Leicester just signed Jake Knight temporarily for the same reason?

  16. So basically you like to sit at the EoES for an hour, look at a load of people staring at the track doing nothing, be thanked for your patience and then sent home again with your ticket and blank programme? That's what the forecast suggested. The call wasn't just based on the forecast alone, albeit what turned out to be an incorrect one, but additionally "Club staff have already pumped over 150 tonnes of water off the circuit following Friday’s deluge" - It might be summer but it ain't no 76 and when the riders got to look at it then I'm not sure that 72 hours non-drying time would have been enough for them to want to race on it.

  18. The riders registration has been lodged with head office. It’s a covid/brexit issue which is taking longer than expected through no fault of the club. Patel needs to sign it off but she is too busy arguing with Tyrone Mings.

  21. A Redcar side with recent lost riders through injury,, face a Kent side with only one true heat leader at the moment Scott Nicholls ,,with Cameron Heeps trying to regain form after a recent shoulder injury,,and Paul Starke fighting for points and riding well consistantly,,but winning too few races ..More importently Paul Hurry needing to get some points for a change tommorrow,,,,,Or we may have to rely on reserves Ben Morley ,,,Dan Gilks and no 8 young Mudford who could get some rider replacement rides,, to chip in with good points to win this one ..Hopefully the weather holds up,,and win or lose we get some good racing

  27. I was thinking something along the same lines. Although I accept that the only name over the door of Coventry Speedway at this time was that of the infamous M Horton, Neil Watson's long association as his co promoter inevitably means he will be tarred with the same brush. I would describe their time as Brandon as at best very poor , at worst abysmal, & if were in Neil Watson's position I would be keeping a very low profile not bulling myself up as someone of importance in British speedway

  28. Bruce Penhall, Dag Lovaas, Ron Preston and Phil Collins all could have been around for much longer if they wanted to. At the other end of the scale, Jim Brett of Belle Vue looked like he was about to make the breakthrough but quit as he had a good job lined up (in IT I believe, which in the late 70s would have been pretty well paid I imagine)

  31. No it was the correct decision end of. You wouldn't be happy with a straight call off on Sunday, you'd want weather and temperature charts from Friday evening. You've already questioned summer drying time. The forecast they had, which is no doubt the one that they use and trust, said rain on this occasion. It matters not that someone else can find something different. If you're not paying the bills or doing the work then it is easy to say that the show must go on but you might have been of different mind if you were. The press release was fine and to add in the forecast (as they knew it) was also ok. You're just arguing for the sake of it now so I'll bid you good day!

  33. It’s a while since I’ve read so much puerile rubbish in one post. Peterborough would never postpone a meeting without real justification as dates can be at a premium at the busy Showground. You’ve had two former Promoters come to this thread to explain the situation to you, but still you know best? Perhaps you should ask to join the track staff

  34. Oh I’m here… sitting in the shade, in the beautiful Greek Islands, whilst it hits about 34-35 degrees over here. I’ve got a loyal audience though and even when I’m not in the country I won’t be letting my fans down… need something to do since me and hubby can’t hit the nightlife as much now (the joys of kids!! ) Keep your eyes peeled!

  35. Have to agree, it’s not a sport dabble in,if your 100% committed your safer out of it,to many risk factors that you have no control over.Agree regarding Bridger totally wasted talent,if only he had half a brain .

  37. and if he rides it like he rides Mildenhall he won't. Personally i feel its hard to look past Brennan but if Flint is fit and Kemp is up for it then they could put up a good fight. Plenty of spoilers in the field too so any slip ups and title has gone.

  41. I did read Stewart Dickson saying that Leicester had tried but that no one would go there on Saturday? I'm having a day by the seaside on Sunday to see Eastbourne v Leicester (CL / NDL) Double Header. Nice touch that you can decide mid-match whether you watch just one or both. They should be cracking matches and the only real Speedway on the Cardiff GP weekend, other than Mildenhall v Kent NDL also Sunday I guess that Eagles v Lions could have been Saturday night but that Leicester wanted to keep Saturday free as long as possible in case they got an opponent to come? Hopefully Eastbourne and Mildenhall are rewarded by a lot of floating support.

  43. The blog is simply a Ego trip for Barrie and Dodds and is all about them and their life history.Their latest Blogs are very condescending towards Fellow Promotions. IMO But it’s all just a bit of banter to wind up us forum fannies.. Really looking forward to this weeks contribution ,there had to a reason that Edinburgh were so good ,special Clutch Plates and oversize engines no doubt ,no time to prepare track due to return of football.,or the forecast of rain.Maybe even the ref Monarch Magregor( or is it Jim) letting his lads getting fliers from the gate. All in a night at the Skids

  44. Bulls***e,but it does make poole stronger especially as smetana has never ridden Plymouth and probably wouldn't be any good on a small track, very unlike poole to not have the paperwork in order. Anyway hopefully a good meeting and we get some good entertainment.

  45. Did you miss the deluge on Friday night? The track was completely waterlogged they pumped hundreds of gallons off it at the weekend, it was in no fit state for racing today rain or no rain.
