speedway riders of any ability have probably got more "bottle" in their little finger than you(indeed most if us) would have in your entire body6 points

Delighted to see that after x-rays Jye Etheridge has no broken bones but is obviously very battered and bruised.5 points

Just the usual mess and contradictory rules.Take your pick and if your the right Promotion you will get away with it.You couldn’t make it up,only in Speedway..Interpretation of rule as usual.4 points

I photographed this from the pits and there was no contact between Ricky and Kasper3 points

Shame I can only give one like to this message. I'd give more if I could!3 points

I also said that’s what was going to happen as the referee asked the clerk of the course to ring him immediately…. Yes I agree the staying down looked “ Iffy” but even the innocuous looking falls can be the worst.. I think a warning would of been the correct punishment as even multi millionaire footballers try and cheat but they don’t get fined .. If Pijper was fined £100 he probably went home with less than what he came with !!2 points

It's good to see Ricky Wells back to some form, it has been frustrating watching him struggling these last few weeks2 points

The official line was a crisis of confidence after a couple of crashes. The suspicion is being one meeting from a 7-8 point average was possible a bigger factor?2 points

I agree with you Baldy, I hate being critical of speedway riders as they’re all far braver than I’ll ever be! But he doesn’t seems to have that courage and ruthlessness and determination that you need to get to the very top. There’s so many times Where he looks to have the speed to get by someone if he kept the throttle open, but as a gap starts to diminish he seems to immediately shut off and loses his chance. I find it frustrating watching him to be honest.2 points

Like other comments thought the racing last night was poor up to the interval. Prob is sadly it will not change unless funding available to alter shape so conclusion I’ve made is accept and get your weekly fix..? as with many other clubs we see in great difficulty chicken and egg though poor entertainment people loose interest.. roll on Saturday.2 points

There always is a good atmosphere between Berwick and Glasgow fans. For what it's worth, from where I was standing on the back straight, it looked like there was contact between Wells and Andersen's front wheel. In the grand scheme of things it's irrelevant, Glasgow were going through anyway. Better effort from Berwick last night, maybe it took two riders having to pull out the meeting with injury to galvanise them? But nobody was getting close to Craig Cook last night. The racing was poor last night, very one line. There were a couple of races where Andersen and Hume were clearly faster than Sedgeman, but because he rode the correct line there was no way through. I thought the afternoon rain might have helped the track but obviously not. Maybe I'm being silly here, as I have no experience of track preparation, but I can't see the point of seemingly taking dirt from the corners with the grader and dumping it on the back straight. Obviously I'm missing something.2 points

Heat 13 has got to be the race of the season for me. Hope it gets onto the BSPA website! Still not sure why Heat 8 was re-started without a Rider being warned. No announcement made other than all 4 in the re-start.2 points

All in all a good night 2 sets of fans enjoying the racing and a good crac on here next day thats what its all about2 points

In my opinion promoters in general are just as much to blame for the sport going on such a huge decline as anyone. Its their product to sell each week and very few do a good enough job. Admittedly I have never been a speedway promoter and never will be, but I wouldn't invest in a speedway club and expect handouts to keep the club going. What I have seen recently is a couple of Championship clubs having the begging bowl out for money to help them through the season as well as threatening to close down because the fans aren't packing into the stadiums. And those clubs are clubs with new promoters over the last couple of years who have never promoted before. The value for money just isn't there. On average around two hours stood around watching 15 heats of speedway, overpriced food and drink, barely anything going on between the heats and more often than not being stood in freezing cold conditions listening to completely out dated music. Add that with poor stadiums that look older than the average pensioner and processional racing on track and its clear to see why there are no fans coming through the gate. I absolutely love speedway, admittedly no where near as much as when I attended Newport regular before we shut down and I moved to Aus, so I am not one that wants to see the sport fail and cease to exist. But I really do think that the sport has been driven that far into the ground (in Britain) that it is beyond a state of repair. It would take a miracle of epic proportions to revive the sport in the UK, IMO. I remember the beginning of the end being when Rickardsson quit Poole after a few meetings one season, I think it was the season they brought the grading system into the Elite League. Ever since, the quality has got weaker and weaker, prices have gone up and up and ultimately, crowds have gone down and down.2 points

Under the old system you could have five wins and an engine failure in the semi and end with 15 points In this system you could have five wins and an engine failure and end with nine points. This system is far more likely to punish you for one bad ride2 points

Yes they have also split Woffinden and Madsen- i refused to do that at this stage of the season2 points

Round 4 was much better with some very good racing, nice to see Tai have a good night but he certainly picked the wrong gate for the final. I must be honest and say I prefer the 2 GP weekends, much better value for supporters.2 points

There was no contact, the ref called it well.2 points

The points system is an absolute farce and I have no idea why they changed it on what it was before. Why do the powers that be constantly tinker with things that need not be changed? That said, I agree with all the comments about the racing. The last few years have IMO seen the best racing for a long time, any newcomers watching that would surely "come back for more" to use a Tony Millardism. Its just a shame they keep tinkering with the point system. Not sure I like the two GPs at one track over a weekend either.2 points

Still not a lover of this points system .for me it devalues the heats2 points

Done via email. Dear Ms. Buchanan, I write with regards to the above application and the proposed redevelopment of Brandon Stadium, Coventry. I am not a local resident, I live in Sheffield, but I was a regular visitor to the stadium before it was closed by the owners and stripped back to the sorry state it is in now. I am a speedway supporter and have followed how the owners of the site have made repeated attempts to redevelop the site for housing and make millions of pounds in the process. This stadium was opened for speedway back in 1928 and I made my first of many visits in 1976 as an 8 year old with my parents. The stadium was one of the best speedway stadiums in the country and it was fantastic to see it packed with fans, hosting World Championship meetings, test matches and British Finals. It could be a great place to visit again and I know that speedway fans in the area and further afield would love to see the sport return. On looking at the latest application, a 3G football pitch is a poor effort at maintain the site for sporting purposes and I feel strongly that a stadium steeped in history and with the potential to be returned to its former glories should not be allowed to be demolished. I object to the proposal submitted by Brandon Estates. Please do not allow this to happen as it would be tragedy for many people who would love motorsport to return to the site.2 points

Have to call Sheffield, Poole 2 from now on! Apart from Pickering, all are ex PIrates! You even knicked our track licence! Both Stefan and Danyon have worked very hard for Poole this season. Sheer hard graft from both of them. Look after them, please.1 point

If there were riders on 8 + 5 averages available, it'd be a bad move to sign an 11.1 rider who won't hit that figure! But there wasn't many options out there!1 point

You have a good point. I just find it wrong that so many races will now be worthless where as before every point was crucial. Also your point about seeing two GPs in one weekend is definitely understandable, I just preferred it with a bigger variation of tracks and countries but I suppose with COVID that isn't possible. You would hope, though, things will return to usual when and if this virus blows over.1 point

Put like that, szkocjasid, it makes perfect sense. When I first saw Batchelor's average, I thought he'd never live up to it so could be a poor move. But seeing your view of it and I now feel entirely different. Surely the Kings MUST be stronger ?1 point
-
Hurry was scoring less than 3 points a match & r/r less than 4 points a match, so Batchelor doesn't need to score 12 points a match to strengthen Kent! If he gets an 8.00 ave Kent will be stronger!1 point

Our ratio of 'false starts' and first bend incidents must be much higher than Polands where start marshals seem to weild some power (supported visually and audibly by the referee).. Riders dont fly off in all directions like they seem to do over here, with their bikes strictly aligned straight, and their front wheels practically touching the tapes (akin to cycle speedway), meaning no roll backs to help preempt the start.. And the 2 mins is sacrosanct. If you are not ready you are out.. 'Professional' is a good word to describe it..1 point
