Ellis should be given a ban for start of next season. That's an absolute piss take. Bad enough second rate foreigners doing it but the British champion? Out of order3 points

BREAKING NEWS: Adam Ellis today confounded medical science to race for his French team Morizes. The French ace romped to 13 points helping his side to an away victory. Government scientists are now seeking to question the British Champion to ascertain his miracle recovery from "illness" sustained at Sheffield on Thursday evening. They believe it may have been a dodgy pie but sources close to the Lourdes based Frenchman say that he has been drinking the spring water from the bottom of his garden... more news as we get it.3 points

To be fair Brady is better off resting at Home because it's not like Belle Vue are going to win the title tbh. Peterborough are just too good.3 points

Delighted with that lead , tie not over , but thats a defendable lead2 points

Racing incident IMO, Nicol did nothing wrong either. Kemp cut under Bailey just as Nicol was coming round inside, neither could have anticipated what the other would do, if they even saw each other. With the track being extremely slick to cope with rain you had to be aggressive to get anywhere, unfortunately another downside of October speedway.2 points

Nah - just can't be bothered with the whingeing from various Poole pullets.2 points

And you know the circumstances of both clubs, their ability to stage meetings on an ‘off race night’? Do you genuinely believe Edinburgh and Leicester wanted to drag things out to the extent they have been just to be awkward? Give me a break. Hopefully Poole have found their venture into the second tier so unbearable that they’ll trot off back to the Premiership next season. The rest of us will survive without you.2 points

Anyway back to the present , let's set about this mob from the east today and see if we can take a decent lead over to Armadale for the second leg . No more of this beautiful Sunday nonsense haha2 points

I dont get why the test match upsets you so much . We're in the fortunate position to own our stadium, so we could squeeze a test match in that week and aqueeze anything else in any other day as long as the other club and riders agreed .2 points

Nonsense I have a text from someone in the pits well before 6:30pm confirming the Ambulance breakdown and also on this thread it was also mentioned well before the time you state. If the call didn’t come through until 18:45 as you say what was the reason the riders didn’t start to warm up their bikes then? Did you not think that odd ? Perhaps if you had asked why they were not preparing to race they would have told you!2 points

At this rate the Poole and Glasgow riders will need to do another pre-season to get up to speed again.2 points

Don’t be silly. There is no place for common sense/logic on a speedway thread. Next you will be suggesting that riders can only ride for one team in the UK.2 points

Poor Nicoliar. She certainly knows how to run a country. Just noticed I said run meant ruin.2 points

To cop off a farcical week roary the tiger and ed the monarch get into a vicious fight and both ambulances have to take them separately to hospital to prevent another fight. Meeting off2 points

Given it is effectively the "World Cup Of Speedway" you would imagine the teams would want to spend time together the day before it, (at least), wouldnt you..? And given it will be the biggest meeting of his career you would also think riding elsewhere the night before could be a bit distracting, not to mention problematic for the team (and the actual event), should he get injured...1 point

once you sign into a fim meeting you can’t leave to race anywhere else unless he does not sign into the meeting till saturday and gives up practice1 point

Just as an example:- From Strike Zone First Aid Event Cover:- It is not possible to give exact prices for our services as this will depend on the risk assessment however typical costs are: £14/hr for 1st aiders, £16/hr per medic and £12/hr for an ambulance to be on site. (All prices are subject to a minimum charge of £75, mileage is charged for distances beyond 25 miles) 7 x Medical Staff:- 6@£14 + 1@£16 + Ambulance@£12= £112 per hour! + Mileage!1 point

Obviously giving the weej a false sense of superiority ahead of the likely play-off matches.1 point

The rest of his team mates had also taken the night off, so I wouldn't have thought they gave a toss either. To be serious for a moment though... this was a Play Off quarter final, their most important match of the season, it's sport and anything could have happened, seems like there wasn't much will there from the management either.1 point

All teams(3 riders) to be nominated with the FIM 6 days before the event but no federation is allowed to name the riders. I expect the FIM will announce it tomorrow morning.1 point

Asking for a friend…….did Ellis just pull a sickie or was the promoter happy for him not to travel and save himself a few quid?1 point

It's funny how all of the people telling me clubs were right to call meetings off based on weather forecasts in the summer have gone strangely silent now1 point

Luckily October last year was the No1 month for rainfall in the UK in 2020. So, given Speedway doesn't rely on dry days and evenings to take place... Absolutely no worries I am sure...1 point

If you are just watching speedway it's cheaper to do the monthly subscription for 6.99 a month. If you subscribe each time on the day of the Grand Prix and then cancel you can get 6 monthly subscriptions for 41.94.1 point

In fairness an ambulance is perhaps one of the last things you would expect to brake down. Presumably they are maintained on a regular basis. I guess it is just the way the cookie crumbles. I'm sure all who cannot make the Tuesday restaging will be reimbursed. I think it is helpful to realise that speedway is far from a proffesionly run sport which couldn't operate without a good number of volunteers . And doesn't have the finances associated with football etc. Basically it is a semi pro operation that is lucky to break even at the end of a season. I think to a degree when attending meetings. YOU PAYS YOUR MONEY AND TAKES YOUR CHANCES. In some things you just have to accept that it is what it is. It won't change anytime soon that's for sure.1 point

If you check out the International Speedway section of the forum, somebody (usually R&R) will post a link before the meeting starts1 point

While that would be an ideal situation, how would they pay for the extra ambulance? Paying riders less or charging fans more?1 point

Elbow I believe. Mark Lemon said on Monday they are hopeful he will be back for final.1 point

What is not out of the control of Leicester Speedway is the number of ambulances in attendance. They've been caught out before by not having adequate medical cover to ensure the smooth running of matches. It should be compulsory for 2 ambulances to be in attendance in my opinion. It seems like the sport is run by a bunch of chancers at times.1 point

Traitor. To be fair it could go either way , Edinburgh could very well win this and they could also win the play offs. To be honest they are also in with a shout of the Nobel peace prize this year as well.1 point

They do need someone to save them from themselves at times I feel.. I look at them sometimes like I would an "addict" as they often show some similar traits of the addicts I have had contact with.. ie A great desire for their fix (in this case Speedway and owning a team).. A belief that what they do and how they run the sport is "acceptable" although deep down many will know it isn't... A belief that they can make slight changes to improve their situation, but actually avoid ever solving any of the fundamental root causes that brings them so many issues.. A failure to seek, and then take, advice as to what is going wrong as the truth may be too hard to handle.. Keeping everything about them almost a secret and never letting anyone "from outside" in close.. And a justifying of their adhoc decision making to try and correct their latest self inflicted setbacks, rather than not inflict the setback on themselves in the first place.. With "Just making it through" seeming to be a clear sum of their ambition.. And just like addicts everywhere they will spend fortunes, yet have very little to show for it.... And by that in UK Speedway terms it means hardly anything in the way of national (and even local) cut through and recognition, and no major sponsor to lessen the money they put in as individuals.. . Therefore you would think that they would at least seek some feedback and maybe do some information gathering as to why so few now attend compared to even ten or twenty years ago wouldnt you..? The key for me as to who can help them are the many tens of thousands who sit at home each week and no longer pay their money into the sport in the UK... Even more people than the ones who actually attend I would suggest.. Yet these people will still follow the results closely, and attend SON's, GP's, FIM meetings etc in the UK, and have a huge love of the sport. (And even travel abroad to watch league speedway)... They just cant justify paying the kind of sums now expected to be paid to attend UK Speedway for the contrived output that is on offer.. Which is a shame, as the raw material of the product itself is fantastic... It's just how it is packaged in the UK that lets it down, and dissuades so many from purchasing... With huge irony the Promoters are both the saviour and the destroyer of the sport in the UK, so maybe opening up to their fanbase (both those who still do and those who no longer attend) and accepting at face value what they are being told could be just what they need to help them move forward... A great many love the sport and would be delighted to see UK Speedway flourish because, ultimately, everyone is on the same side.... As, if the sport disappears in the UK, (as it's current annual run rate of tracks closing suggests it eventually will), then we all lose..1 point
