  5. I suppose with a home track advantage type team you keep the home fans happy seeing a winning team, especially back in the day with the bonus point , although a slightly different situation now, even so win all your home matches especially with an 8 + margin and playoffs virtually guaranteed , mind you I think MPT would be wanted at any track and team at the moment.

  9. For most tracks in the UK regular practice sessions and or coaching events are nigh on impossible Only a handful have few if any restrictions of use My local track for example (Ipswich) are limited not only by landlord expectations but also local authority restrictions The stadium is only allowed to hold a maximum number of events each year *can't recall the exact number but it may well be less than 1 a week on average There is then a restriction of no more than 2 events in any 8 day period as well as limitations as to what times and for how long the event takes place Get over any of that and you then have the fact that the landlord would want in excess of £3000 to open the doors

  11. In fairness think a lot of scunthorpe fans don't believe they seen Adam at his best which is probably true . However don't think there is any animosity towards him just think there are potentially better fits for us as a club

J. Lennox and his business partner Leslie Maidment. The first races held here were in April 1951 but racing was wound up in 1953 after a series of poorly attended events. The site remained derelict until 1969 when it was demolished. The site is commemorated in the street name 'Stadium Close'.

  14. I don't see what the big fuss is about Ellis, I'd rather have someone who's fully committed to Scunthorpe and won't miss as many meetings

  16. To give them maybe more of a balance on away tracks? Tracks like Lakeside, Rye House and Eastbourne often seemed to overkill the home small track specialists to the detriment of their away results.. One thing for sure with MPT is that you will get 100%, so any gap, however tiny, will have his bike aimed at it, which will be fun to watch on a tight circuit..

  17. Poole haven't signed any motoX riders either

  18. Hi Skidder Wasn't aimed in your direction . My comments were aimed more at could the promoters have already agreed on structure/points limits & if any changes to if 1 or 2 rising stars for season 2022. Also the fact that so far Zach has not been named in the 5 named Plymouth riders which a bit of a surprise (if he was staying) considering how low his GSA is, and the fact they have 2 rising stars named in the 5 so far. We all know Zach is a potential upward mover on that 4.40 GSA. His Poole guest scores alone prove that plus he improved in the later part of the season. Let's hope we can get him My only concern on the legal battle was if like many UK legal situations it dragged on well in to 2022 which not great for the Club/riders or us supporters. I am sure Danny/Matt have things well in hand. I am soooo glad I was wrong in how things were going at one stage earlier. So pleased I was wrong big time Knowing the points limit and rising star situation would make the close season name next seasons team game much more interesting and better . I mean for those of us not so close to any inside info .

  26. You would think that these clubs would need to do something similar to each other all the time as their business model must be heavily based on 'local' derbies.. If only one moves then they are very much stand alone.. And if two move that leaves one left alone.. Bottom line though is why would any team "move up" when you can see the vast majority of the same riders each week already in the 2nd tier?
    2 points
  27. That’s an extreme example to pick. He’s a reserve in a team where six riders have an average within one point of each other.

  29. Following on from the success of TeamGB in the Speedway of Nations I visited the TeamGB website in a view to purchasing some merchandise - http:// https://shop.gbspeedwayteam.com/ - I was surprised that most of the items were/are out of stock. On the Monday following the on track success I contacted them via email to see if they would be having any new stock in? To date I have had no response. I keep checking online to see if the shop has been updated but alas no. Surely following the on-track success the people involved in running TeamGB are missing a trick by not trying to cash in.

  34. People make so many negative comments when Rob is a genuine guy who is working hard to make a successful club. I think both parties in terms of Scunthorpe and Adam Ellis will be more than happy to part ways
    1 point
  35. Would think the chance of Adam Ellis coming back to Scunthorpe is nil I would have thought judging by the posts on here, why would you want to ride for a club with so many negative posts against you, justified or not.

  36. Probably because it was all agreed at the pre-AGM 'Zoom' meeting to allow clubs to begin to formulate their teams (without Rising Stars?!) but will not be confirmed or 'rubber-stamped' and announced until the one-day AGM later.

  37. I thought Oxford already had a promoter? The name Courtney was being bandied about before but I wasn’t sure if it was Sean, Scott, Jamie or even Mark. But I’d guess it to be the one who lives closest. As long as it’s not John. That would be totally farcical. And not at all honest

  39. Richard will keep you right, he’s the godfather of amateur speedway. Depending where you live makes a big difference to what’s available. Up north you have Scunthorpe , nearly every weekend, Redcar , now closed for the winter , Northside and Duns ( near Berwick ). Your budget will get you a rough and ready old lay down nothing more , no chance of an upright. You will need an ‘ amateur ‘ licence to race in those meetings ( much cheaper than a full licence ) but not for practices. Loads of mature gentlemen riding lay downs in amateur meetings so no problem there. Good luck.

  41. I think it's fair to say looking at make up of Plymouth and Newcastle's teams that the rising star rule is at least same as this season if not scrapped entirely. Leicester's thread suggesting just a straight 42 points. Be delighted if that was accurate

  42. I think Barker would be a decent signing on that average, especially how he goes at Plymouth. I'm not a fan per se but you can't deny he's box office at Plymouth. Don't rate Keleher and thought he was actually quite poor other than a couple of home meetings. Sooner see Ruml back or look at another younger Brit. I'm guessing Cook will end up at Poole with his brother.

  44. Just for giggles what would Doyles championship average be?
    1 point
  45. I think the championship model is not perfect but as close to manageable as anything else for UK Speedway Ideally what the championship is now should be what the premiership is maybe with two rising stars per side

  46. The conversion rate is something that won't become clear until after the AGM, it remained at 1.5 for 2021 notwithstanding the announcement above.

  47. I am sure the "powers that be" will get around that table at the AGM and sort everything out. Make it better for the fans, better for the riders and a better T.V aspect. I think perhaps the answer could be to bring back the green helmet colour and change the points given out for a win - maybe 10 points for a win if the track is wet and it would definitely make it more exciting if the riders had to use a bigger pit mat!!! Unfortunately that is about the only level of thinking the BSPL have - Charge the riders, sod the fans.

  48. keep it simple - no need for change - 3, 2, 1, 0 is best

  50. I agree. I much preferred it when Lynn were in the lower league. A much greater selection of clubs and riders, rather than the same old faces week after week. The "Premier" league is anything but, with dozens of riders doubling up, so it makes a mockery of the whole concept. Think back a few years when we had riders like Tony Rickardsson, Jason Crump, Leigh Adams, and Nicki Pedersen in the team, and more recently Robert Lambert. Riders of that quality don't want to ride here now, so we must accept that and move on. What the future holds, I don't know, but with the news of Clubs not running such as Swindon, Eastbourne and now Kent, I fear for the future of the sport. We frequently discuss the merits of "One big League" on this forum, and each year it is put on the back burner, but what happens if another Premier league Club withdraws before the start of next season? What if Buster goes through with his threat of selling Kings Lynn and Peterborough, and the new owners (if there are any) don't or can't afford to run in the top league? Food for thought perhaps.
