Ya not wrong Although not political nor a Tory fan I got annoyed with that Dan Walker having a go at Dominic Rabb this morning not getting enough people out of Afghanistan and over here after the pull out... as 95% who were entitled to come were possibly left behind and some had been murdered which is an absolute tragedy; and he asked if Rabb felt guilty about taking a holiday and not responding quick enough: however if it had of been the other way round and he had let 95% in without checking them and he let in murderers criminals or Taliban sleepers he would have been slated for doing that... He couldn't win whatever stance he took and I m getting fed up with the contradictory/confrontation all the time... not everyone wants to be "Woke" there are times when people have to stand up or be called out for injustices however the people on the receiving end need to be part of society and want to be included... like these travellers they create havoc everywhere they go with their criminal actions and not following the rules and ultimately contribute nothing to our society... however they work the system to their benefit and tread a very thin line... we should be coming down on them like a ton of bricks... the Ray Mallon policy of "Zero Tolerance" until they get the message that their behaviour is unacceptable... live within the law not outside of it... The same question, why do you pollute Glasgow, and other teams', threads? No doubt you'll come back with another stupid answer.4 points

The unfortunate thing about Northside is it is an open site on a dune area under the many windmills. The previous owners tried to enclose it, but the damage just continued being caused by gypsies in caravans alongside the track. They were then cleared off that site, with council help, hence the enthusiasm to turn the site into something that could be developed into a Redcar type site. Even with an expensive spiked metal fence surrounding the whole site, which would not be cost effective, it would not solve the problem as it would probably just provide the gypsies with a new supply of metal which would be stolen on a regular basis. Perhaps a local councillor could help with the establishment of a sport in Workington, as it was thought that with the cockups by the council, and the other stadium owners in the Town, regarding the other stadia, they appeared to have thought that by helping Northside now it would make up for their incompetence previously. Let's hope the council stand by that enthusiasm, and stand up to the thugs who could deprive the Town with a sport facility that they currently lack.4 points

This is the news for which we have waited since the end of last season, and our very grateful thanks are due to everyone who has wished us well on this forum. Sad that a few posters chose to be negative, but the great majority, I think, are genuinely pleased for us.3 points

Really sorry to read about the goings on up at Northside this type of travelling commnity really are the scum of the earth, its exactly the same around here in the Midlands from time to time they turn up at various sites, Car Parks, Waste Ground, Sports Pitches and Parks, they cause no end of grief whilst they are there, then when they leave the rubbish they leave behind is horrendous, usually they leave a calling card whenever they visit premises in the form of human excretia. All the local councils have fixed sites for these so called travellers to go to but it has made little if any difference, until the big knobs down in London pass a stronger law this will continue throughout the country. A few years ago they had set up on the car park of a local playing field I wanted to go onto this playing field so walked across the Car Park, next thing a big 4x4 was heading for me I had to rapidly jump out of the way before I got hit, the driver was just laughing as he went past Barstewards the lot of them..3 points

Surely it should be treated as organised crime and treated accordingly. The problem we have in this country is if anything in any situation ( and there are a lot )is deemed to be from a minority group no one wants to deal it because of the fear of the comeback , especially on social media, sad times.3 points

As much as I have high regard for Jason, he is way off the rider I want to remember. He was totally fantastic when he rode for us at the greyhound track… I would much prefer for him to retire gracefully3 points

The riders concerned will probably benefit riding on a well prepared consistent track at home which will improve their confidence and help their away form aswell, well done Glasgow.3 points

Had a bit of an "out there" thought about this situation. German, Latvian and Russia have clubs who race in the polish lower leagues, why don't Britain do the same? Best youngsters getting experience of racing on the continent, more international riders would be seen on these shores in the return fixtures. Put clauses in contracts that if riders want to take up a place they must ride in the UK. No sure the logistics of it or whether polish authorities be game but going to need ideas to keep our best riders in the country2 points

Wasn’t being disrespectful to the lad but he has hardly any experience at this level at the moment and it would be a very unusual signing which would be out of keeping with usual Poole team building plans. Still, if we are going too heavy, we are going to be squeezed for choice at the bottom and he could be in the equation.2 points

Heaven forbid an Eastie youth prospect in your side! Rode 4 meetings for Eastbourne in 2021, another very good prospect lost to the club at the moment.. It won't be him in your side of course2 points

i agree, let a manager manage, put any of the top 5 in any order Remember Mauger riding at 2 in many away matches for Exeter2 points

The top league is having to contrive some cup competition to stretch the season.. The 2nd Division include six teams in the play offs to offer up an extended season for clubs.. And hardly any non UK based riders now too, so plenty of nights available to run a season with zero fixture clashes with other countries meetings... They even clash with their own U21 Championship fixtures for crying out loud.. The bottom line is they have guests because they can, and it's far easier to do this than run the sport properly...2 points

Unfortunately this issue the speedway track is in the middle of regarding the caravan people, is all down to the local council and politics, apparently all councils are supposed to provide a site for said people,( Don't ask why !! ) If the site is not provided the said people park anywhere and claim they are being victimised, this then adds to the time the eviction order comes through to move them on, they know all the Dodge's !!! In the summer said people have parked on school playing fields, children's playground, car parks, and even outside the local council office, each time eventually moved on via court order ,at a cost to local council tax payers, and leaving a massive mess of God knows what to be cleaned up, again at a cost to the local council tax payers. This has being going on for years but now getting a lot worse, Don't know if similar happens in other parts of the country. Got to feel for Andrew and the band of helpers, but IMO some serious thinking to be done, does the project carry on and risk further damage etc or bail out !!! I'm not being negative just saying as I see it as a local, but will be down to support the speedway when it opens (hopefully ) ,also may have a spare couple of quid to sponsor something.2 points

Do it RS, treat yourself, you won't regret it ! I have ridden with Wayne Carter, on Scunny's mini track and on a 500 on the main circuit (gulp !) and found him friendly, helpful, very knowledgable as you would expect and has a good sense of humour without being at all condescending or insulting, which helps if (when) progress doesn't go as planned or the ground keeps coming up to meet you (!). He has plenty of time for everyone and equally importantly he asks what riders are hoping to achieve; from just having fun, riding round the track without the ground hitting you (!), getting a full slide on (yay!) to taking on the likes of Laguta, Tai, Smazlik, etc. He then helps each rider make steady & safe progress at their own pace. Speaking as I find, I can highly reccomend a day 'skidding with Wayne' and promised to myself one day hope to do so again. One day....2 points

Scrapheap? Do me a favour! I was at the meeting when Matt Ford said he really wanted to keep Basso for 2022 but knew it would be difficult. One of the reasons we moved down was to get Weds nights back again, so hardly going to change it again for one rider and even if we were prepared to, what night would be allowed to race on? I'm guessing Hume prob was in the team before someone else decided to leave Plymouth. Might have had to choose between Hume and Ben Cook?2 points

This is pro speedway,,, anything could happen,,, he can probably be our number 8 and guest for the opposition in the same meeting,,, possibly even see himself racing himself in heats 2 and 8,,, Obviously it could get a little confusing if he knocks himself off,, and who gets excluded2 points

Now that the Brummies are confirmed as running next year, it's time that this thread is started! Any commnets? (Constructive, please).1 point

One of the MANY reasons that the racing is so crap now is that there are fixed gate positions for every race. We have riders that are useless using the best gate positions, and he top riders stuck on the rubbish gate positions. Team pairs should be able to choose gate positions to suit their style of riding and the needs of their team. Humphrey remembers correctly that teams 6 points in arrears could choose 1and 3 OR 2 and 4. This should be re introduced. These rules would put an end to any advantage being gained by flooding of the away team starting grids by track officials, as used this season at Eastbourne.1 point

True but whoever said hours before that Zagar wouldn’t be riding must have been guessing. If the Reading management had taken a different course of action and covered his rides until we arrived he would have ridden !!1 point

I would have to say you are spot on , both the Cook brothers have real potential but they are no better than Hume in a top five. They could be ? Kennedy another Aussie gets chances yet he has not shown up to yet he is a championship 1/5 rider.Your point about Kemp is right to he needs to push on for me Hume should of got a Prem spot before Kemp and Rowe and i like Rowe followed him since his mini track days at Swindon.1 point

Historically the best ( and highest paid) rider has ridden No1 . It’s only right from a riders perspective and from the point of view of the fans that the best rider earns his money by facing the opposition’s No1 two or three times rather than once as used to be the case years ago. It’s hardly fair that the best rider should be getting easy rides against second strings and second strings get less points, and therefore less money by facing Heatleaders every time out . Personally I think it’s fair that second strings and reserves get a chance with races against riders of similar. standard. I don’t know if it’s still the case but until fairly recently at least it was the case that the home team had to declare their team first so apart from. No1 the away manager had a certain amount of latitude in his team order .1 point

its a shame this is happening @ northside . the question i would ask is just where are the these people taking their scrap . they either sell it onto another scrappy so as not being in the paper trail or the scrap merchant ( local or not ) turns a blind eye and says nowt . second question is , if and when this gets sorted out and speedway returns . just where do the fans park their cars/vans etc on race nights . it will be christmas for the gypos every night the speedway is on .it needs sorted or it will be poorly supported . can they not build a Trump style fence around the area ?1 point

About on par with Jason Edwards, but a couple of years in hand. We might have had a good team in a few years with those 2 and Brennen as the core.1 point

Think TJ would be a good fit but if not a fit and less stressed NBJ can beat most people when he’s on form . The last signing is going to be interesting as the squad is decent already IMO . Saying that there are some good teams being assembled this year .1 point

Not a fan of his are you? He'll be fine at Glasgow and I like how fans trying to fit him in at reserve but I think after how well he's done at Poole last season he'll want to start in the 1-5.1 point

Well here is the latest Read this... https://www.newsandstar.co.uk/news/19732908.cash-machine-stolen-dunmail-park-workington/ Now this was just before they got onto the Northside site however where was the cash machine container found yep you guessed it... Northside... 2 and 2 adding up to anyone Break in at Northside Friday; steal spare batteries and set fire to the pole holding the 11KVA transformers that to be fair was causing a bit of a problem in the centre green of the track and was going to cost 45k plus VAT to move... However fire brigade come and put the fire out and save the day. Sunday and another break in at Northside with every portacabin and every container accessed (even the big steel container with the knackered hinges that three big fat blokes; or 60 stone of muscle as I prefer to call it could not access) and they get in and steal a container full of diesel put it under the 11KVA transformers and set fire to it again; this time the fire brigade come out and cant do anything with it because it is live and 11KVA and the pole goes over North West Electricity come and make the thing safe and isolate it. However in the mean time all of Dunmail Park went off including a large ASDA store. The police actually thought it might have been to cause another power outage to have a second go at the new cash machine but no just the copper. As low and behold they were back Monday (Yesterday) and stripped the transformers and went through all the site cabins again to sweep up anything metallic. The police were called and it took them 3 and a half hours to arrive and when they were asked what they were going to do they said "we will get a court injunction but it will take months" and when asked if nothing could be done quicker they said well we could do something on a Section 61 which can be used in certain circumstances (for example, where the Gypsies/Travellers have with them six or more vehicles), officers may use powers under Section 61 of the Criminal Justice and Public Order Act 1994. These powers will only be used in situations of serious criminality or public disorder not capable of being addressed by normal criminal legislation and in which the trespassory occupation of the land is a relevant factor but the cop said we wont usually do that as the police are bound by the Human Rights Act and can be constrained to avoid using Section 61 of the Criminal Justice and Public Order Act 1994 in circumstances where it would preclude welfare considerations from being applied by the civil courts. Honestly these people know how to work the system to their benefit... but the one question I would as is stealing a Cash Machine and destroying an 11KVA pole and stripping the Transformers not serious criminality? How much can they get away with? So that's it anything of any value has been removed off site; all the plant ground moving equipment and tractors have been moved back to their respective depots and all works has stopped until this problem has been sorted. Which could be months off yet... Could there be more trouble ahead? Probably... Regards THJ1 point

Bored of reading people clinging on to 1000 spectators per meeting? Are we talking 1000 adults....800 adults 200 children....etc etc etc ??? We've already established that it rests on a suitable sponsor, which negates the need for 1000 spectators.... Anyhow, surely it's all about how much money the team costs to put together against the offset of how much money the gate receipts tally.... And we don't know how much the entrance fee is going to be yet? Let's get off the 1000 per meeting cr#p.... We need as many fans as possible, a suitable sponsor and a cost effective side.....by the looks of it!!! Great if we do it....not sure I'm that fussed if we don't.1 point

Yeah said it since November I'm not convinced he'll be back. And even if he goes where I expect him to go will have no issues with at as given the stripes his all. maybe just hasn't worked out as everyone hoped1 point

Would take mega money that & even that would just cause more trouble as once again the gypo scum get offerd a pay off they would take it & then tell the next door caravan the crack & then they would come asking for protection money.. & that's how they work1 point

They not only have the backing of local councillors they have the support of the local MP but with what they are dealing with in lawless scum who opt out of society it will always be a difficult situation until possibly the whole site is developed and there is no land for them to park up on...
