  1. It might be considered the north of England but the league is UK wide. It’s the same travel time from Poole to those venues as it is from Edinburgh and Glasgow.

  2. Tero shot himself in the foot a bit... he applied for a Tier 2 Sports Persons Visa and it was taking ages to come through so he thought he would apply for a UK Tier 5 Temporary Worker Visa in the mean time... however what Tero didn't realise is/was you have to let the process run its course and you cannot apply for a different Visa whilst one is still being processed... So he got a phone call of the Visa and Immigration people asking him what he was doing (was it dodgy and was he trying to enter the country illegally and other such questions) so then the whole thing got put on stop until he gave some acceptable answers. So when you say he broke the rules yes he did technically speaking... however was it malicious or wilful... No... he's just a bit thick... which also explains the minor issue he had/is having with the track and trace people when rather than being in the house where he said he would be in isolation he was on the M6 heading to Plymouth for a meeting with Scunny... Not the brightest bulb in the box but his heart is in the right place... Regards THJ

  3. Couldnt have put it better myself Yep thats whats needed, Im a Cradley fan and so far no Brummie signing has given me the Wow factor in fact exactly the opposite, now wether or not such a rider is out there Iv no idea but riders that put bums on seats is whats needed, so far the riders signed wont be costing a fortune which leaves more money for a genuine No 1, how much would Nicki P cost ?.

  4. Think it will depend on the last two riders, but a few are saying that it's jake Allen and Ryan Douglas?

  5. Millions of pounds given to the teams by Sky since then too... Quite an incredible "achievement" to deliver what we have today...

  7. Yes it is… You’re on the South coast f f s, Glasgow, Edinburgh and Berwick are all 8 hours away, that is the middle of nowhere, just like Glasgow and Edinburgh are. All meetings that are for ALL teams, should be hosted somewhere CENTRALLY, not on France’s doorstep

  8. Season pass prices announced, thought they would have named the 7th rider first.

  9. Not if some riders get a 2.5% discount, not if you missed a season or two, not if you are riding in a different division from last year, not if the Eastbourne fixtures get removed, not if you were a rising star, not if you are on an assessed average being a rider who has never ridden in the UK or are returning from a serious injury.

  10. I'll just say this ...if we havent made a change by the time the first CMA green sheet averages are out. It will be a blooming miracle !

  11. We had the world Cup final in 2004, and that worked fine, fans from Poland, Sweden got there ok, so shouldn't be a problem

  13. 75k for Lawson then

  14. Even in the boat race Oxford don't have an anchor so there's no need for Jack Smith.

  15. Connor Mountain was brilliant for us up at Newcastle and I was gutted when he didn't sign for us. He held his own as a third heatleader when really, he shouldn't have been in that position to start with. I am really jealous that yous have signed him. Connor will easily hold his own at number 4 imo. Or even number 3 1. Nick Morris 2. Dan Thompson 3. Connor Mountain 4. Kyle Howarth 5. Richie Worrall 6. Joe Thompson 7. Anders Rowe WHAT A TEAM!! Always gonna have one amazing reserve (two tbh if Joe kicks on also) and 3 brilliant heatleaders. I would put Kyle at 4 to strengthen heat 14, so there's a strong end to the meeting. And as I say, Connor should hold his own at number 3 imo

  16. Seperate visas for different leagues or so i was told on here

  17. If the Lawson to Poole rumours are true I’m sure we will be looking for a high loan fee or full transfer to offset this cost.

  18. Nothing: Berwick are sorted; a peace deal was signed in 1966 by a Russian diplomat and the the Mayor of Berwick. As the mayor said at the time: "You can tell the Russian people that they can now sleep peacefully in their beds". (and their sheep can now roam freely in the hills)(cough cough) Well the first bit is true but the bit in the brackets is just embellishing the story somewhat... if he didn't say that I bet he was thinking it... Regards THJ

  19. Correct... it was apparently a "little misunderstanding" however that nice fella Rob Godfrey got things sorted so @Neila can get down off his high horse and credit to the Chairman of the BSPL for resolving the minor blip... It will save @Neila a couple of quid as he will still be able to use his old Hat; Scarf; Clip Board; Jacket; Flag; Beanie; Pyjamas; Underpants; Sweat Shirt; Polo Shirt; H18tory Hoodie and Advertising Strip in the back window of his car. "Win Win" (Win Win Win Win Win Win Win Win Win and Win) there then Neil eh... Hugs and Kisses to big Bad Rob G as all's well that ends well eh Neil... Come on Workington Barbarians... Oops... 20. Connor Mountain is the secret weapon in the side. He rode most of the season at 3 & 5 for Newcastle, Connor will be a second string for Leicester so he's capable of scoring big and upping his average by a point imo. Leicester & Glasgow both look very good sides to me.

  21. Like the diamonds last season & it wasn't to bad at Newcastle at least we had speedway
    2 points
  22. pretty sure it will be along the lines of you can have lawson we can have basso for the season so no money changes hands

  23. How did we manage that? Are they changing rules on the spur of the moment like F1?

  24. Nice big loan or transfer fee coming from Peterborough and Glasgow then

  25. Maybe with the crowds that Poole regularly attract in the Championship, all tracks should be 'in the middle of nowhere'?!

  26. Like I've already told you, you are getting what's left. What were you expecting?

  27. Total rubbish. Having an event for teams spread throughout the UK on the South coast makes little sense. The same could be said if it was scheduled to take place at Ashfield or Armadale.

  28. Typical southerner, close minded and no concept of the UK at all, have a look at a map for once Sheffield to Poole 4hrs 16mins Sheffield to Glasgow 4hrs 26mins Manchester to Poole 4hrs 38mins Manchester to Edinburgh 4hrs 11mins Sheffield is perfect and the closest to the middle possible, Belle vue the second best for fans of ALL teams in the UK

  29. Yeah don’t think we had many other options with limited heat leaders available

  30. It's 2021. Speedway Forums are largely redundant. Plenty of interest on social media.

  31. Sheffield or Belle Vue is in the north, not the middle of the country.

  32. Anders Rowe is the final signing for the lions. It's a good team let's hope it's good enough to win something !

  35. Bit negative on here regarding Scunny signings or to quote Dad’s Army (we’re all doomed), if it is Allen and Douglas the last 2 signings Scunny have the makings of a decent team, you just never know in speedway what will happen.

  36. A slick track Well, as a fan of the sport and no more than that, I call a slick track one with little dirt on it with only one racing line and after a few heats a blue groove starts showing, it could be said an over prepared track. One that doesn't challenge the riders or give entertainment to the fans. However that's just my take on a slick track, yours may differ. I get that it was the first competitive meeting on the track so they need to be conservative with the preparation and clearly nobody wants a dangerous track but also speedway isn't figure skating, one of the great enjoyments as a fan and I guess as riders is the unpredictability of tracks. The point I'm making is the track on opening night 2007 wasn't entertaining, it was dull to watch follow my leader rubbish, Which may have worked if it was a team meeting and Birmingham went on to win infront of 6000 people, As the meeting was hyped as the return of the Birmingham Brummies. However it turned out to be an evening of no team riding (because the was no team), an evening of very little passing, an evening interjected with a lot of people patting them selves on the back but ultimately missing the point on how to get new fans to support the team.

  37. I tend to agree with this however there must be some doubt that a gap would have been looked on favorably by the PB landlords. The Brum management really are going to have to pull something special out of a hat if they are to get anywhere near their required crowd figures. I wish them all the best.

  38. Its difficult to comment without sounding negative but....even if team building could/did start at the same time as all other teams the budget at Brum is clearly tight as previously covered by rent and required attendances. I fully admire and respect the consortium for pushing ahead and i know a year away would have its negatives also but i can't help thinking a year to prepare and recruit might have yielded a team that people are willing to watch every week (in sufficient numbers).

  40. Basso's loan fee will always be higher imo, you have to pay for all that potential and average increase!! lol
    1 point
  41. I don't think any signings Birmingham make will make you say "wow, what a great team we'll have" but should make you say "at least we have speedway"

  42. And as I mentioned on the Poole thread - Matt will be looking to recoup some of his lost Christmas bookings at the Chateau now that France has banned tourists from UK from Saturday, so a big fee probably. It will probably go to arbitration by the BSPL Board - I guess Danny will have a view!

  43. So looks like Glasgow will have to buy Basso from Poole. Figure could be high due to the visa costs etc

  44. Oh yes London, the centre of the UK and British speedway

  45. I agree. I’ll be there without doubt season but looking how teams are shaping up I don’t think home advantage will help as much and if we are going to be successful hard changes will have to be made quick. I hope my words choke me and I’m proved wrong after all I know nothing about team building in the sport I love. Hopefully 2 outstanding HLs

  47. Good signing for home meetings poor away( based on last year) let's hope he has his visa sorted for home meetings. Or is at home when he's meant to be and not playing hide and seek with the authorities

  48. If that floats your boat batter in. After that look up the definition of what describes a forum. People offering opinions on multiple subjects/threads. As for trolling , Poole would be way down my to do trolling list as I say I was agreeing with another poster. Nothing more to it than that look forward to seeing you post on the Glasgow thread or any other thread that takes your fancy.
