Plymouth have announced main team title sponsors for 2022 season. Westcolour, who are one of the largest mailing and fulfilment companies in the UK. The team will be known as the Plymouth Westcolour gladiators. Fantastic news and well done.4 points

Exactly as I see it too. Morris and Shanes have plateaued but Hume is on the way up……4 points

Good to see from the website (warriors-speedway.com) that there will be a full summer season of racing at Smallbrook Stadium in 2022.3 points

2022 Fixture List Following a highly successful 2021 season of varied on-track activity, the Wightlink Warriors Shale Track Racing Club have today announced their NORA Motorsport race programme for 2022 with eleven consecutive weeks of racing over the peak summer months starting on 23 June. In fact thirteen meetings are currently planned with two events taking place in the weeks commencing 1st August and 15th August. Commenting on the programme of events, co-owner Barry Bishop said, “We had a fantastic summer of racing at Smallbrook last year and the feedback from those who visited us endorsed our vision of providing exciting racing alongside non-stop family entertainment. The format of our meetings was ideal and so when Martin (Widman – co-owner) and myself sat down to prepare for 2022 it was right that we replicate what went well, but with some new innovations for our supporters to enjoy. In addition to conventional speedway featuring our Warriors and Wizards, we had no hesitation in including the Grass Track solo’s to do battle for the Island Masters series title and a brand new Open Championship event to round off our season in September. Sidecar speedway has always been well supported when it been staged on the Island and so in response to both rider and supporter input, we will be giving the ‘chairs’ a meeting in July. We also want to give more track time to the female speedway riders and have agreed to stage a Ladies British Final in August that we hope will bring together the top riders from up and down the country and that will sit alongside the NORA British Open Championship that was so dramatic last year and whilst mentioning Championships we are delighted to be hosting the NORA British Upright Championship for the first time in August. Additionally we have been working with our friends in the UK Flat Track community. A couple of the Flat Track riders have been practicing at Smallbrook and have really enjoyed our big, fast circuit and their impressive laps have encouraged us to include Flat Track as part of our race night offering this year. We will be unveiling our Wightlink Warrior team members shortly. They will be operating at a level equivalent National Development League standard. We are also actively engaged in building the Wightlink Wizards team and will provide the names in due course. Please remember that meetings can be subject to late alteration or cancellation so it is always best to check before starting out on any time consuming journey. Our media colleagues, social media platforms and website will be updated with all the breaking news as it happens and so I would ask all supporters to keep a close eye out for the latest information and as always we will be happy to hear from those with any questions via email to speedwayontheisland@yahoo.co.uk ”. Its a monetary situation as always, poole, successful club can go the extra mile with signings as they pay well and on time3 points

Maybe should've added was your opinion on your original post Some riders have rapport with a support, at reserve instead of 3 & 4 they may see bit of improvement. Just my opinion but think Hume got more improvement as last season was what only his 2nd or 3rd full season as keeps getting left on the heap. Shanes and Morris been around for years but always float around same average3 points
-
So by that logic it makes more sense to compare away form. And what do we find? Hume's superiority is far more evident. Hume 4.85 Morris 4.00 Shanes 3.77. Shanes and Morris failed to reach double figures away from home last year. In contrast Hume was paid for double figures at Edinburgh, Kent and Leicester. Over the last four years there isn't much to choose between them, but in 2021 Hume was the better rider.3 points

Adults/kids with work/school has never held Poole or plenty of other midweek tracks back.2 points

If you signed two of those you could have laguta as your number one on. 20 pt average2 points

May I just add....I'd love nothing more than to see Danyon progress to the top...he's a smashing lad and rides fearlessly! I agree Danyon was definitely the pick of the 3 names mentioned, last season, but I do think that there were a few factors to that reason.2 points

Yeah and for someone who cage fights and allegedly a tough nut, he was a right drama queen!1 point

its a vicious circle, teams that consistently make the play-offs in any league generate an end of season cash bonanza thus providing funds to operate a strong team the following season, those that dont usually field weaker teams and so the cycle continues1 point

Strange that Danny Ford of Wednesday track Poole is on the BSPL Management Board and party to those decisions?!1 point
-
Who could they sign? So many variables, e.g. availability, desire to ride in GB, and, of course, budget.1 point
-
The way I understand the race night decision is as follows; Monday - premiership race night Tueaday - free Wednesday - free Thursday - premiership race night Friday - too many other clubs already ride Friday Saturday/Sunday - greyhounds1 point

Totally agree Hume has much. More improvement left to come. Shanes and Morris are decent riders but in my view Hume could be a heat leader in time the other two won't be.1 point

Great news... The Brummies web site has a new page with a profound quote from Paco Castagna on it... ...should fill in the gap and keep people happy until another signing is announced.1 point

Manzaries wants to come back to the uk apparently. His first year at foxhall he was brilliant and looked really promising but has flattened to deceive since then. ljung or Kim Nilsson would be good options1 point
-
Laurence has close links with Team USA Manzaries or Max Ruml might do a second string job. Might be worth looking at Sweden for a No 1...one season swansong, Peter Ljung or similar anyone not riding Danish League.1 point

Yup Wednesday race night is probably the worst possible that the Scunthorpe owner could have given them. Clashes with Poole . Adults kids have work/ school. As we all know it’s not about promoting the sport it’s all about self interest. You can race on any night as long as it’s not on “my race night”1 point
-
That's because it contradicts one of the two reasons we moved down imo. If you move down to save money, you are hardly going to blow it on riders wages unless a sponsor wants them at Poole and is paying for them..?1 point

Hume and Shanes have the same average and Morris is 2 tenths less ? which makes your post not factual ? (LOL....not splitting hairs btw...) Shanes and Morris achieved this average riding on a very poor surface last season. I've studied all 3 riders close up over the last few seasons and I'll stand by my statement. (there's not much difference between the 3 of them, but I think Morris is, or has, the bigger potential and he's more controlled out of the 3...)1 point
-
He will be looking for a final lockout of Ipswich vs Sheffield then..... He has certainly assisted the Tigers in achieving their part with his backing enabling the building of the pre season favourites1 point

https://ipswichwitches.co/tru-mix-to-sponsor-ipswich-in-2022/ Guy Nicholls continuing to pump his money in. Interesting interview, even though I don’t agree with him on parts of it. “I think it is our turn to win something. Dare I say it, but it is important to me personally as I’ve been going for years but as a business we don’t come second, we dominate every market we are in”. Ouch. Well building a team a couple of points below the available limit certainly isn’t going to help your chances1 point

Correct. Morris had 1 good season few years ago but has gone backwards since, Shanes not a rider I've ever been impressed by and like you say is in the Josh bates mould1 point

Yers - my team - Sunderland 'Gladiators' (in 1974). Sunderland 'Stars' prior to that. I never did like the name 'Gladiators'.1 point

Many would say that working together to keep the weakest link competitive has been the downfall of the sport1 point
-
Div 2 teams being too strong is the biggest single issue for the sport for me... Should have had a points limit for top three riders in each team to share the heat leaders around.. Even if the teams with the most money then pay over the odds to bring a new high assessed rider in it would still have freed up heat leaders that they couldnt accommodate.. Given the disparity between top and bottom in each team in Div 2, it makes sense for teams with cash to spend big on heat leaders, as the bottom end of the team wont be of a level to demand too much I would think, and would be very interchangeable as the season goes on.. Will they ever truly see that working together to keep your weakest link strong enough to compete is the only way forward?1 point

Oh absolutely - programme boards, wulfsport coats and badges on hats to name just a few aren’t going to win the ‘cool kids’ over but with amendments to the presentation then the racing should (that’s a big should!) sell itself. I’m amazed no clubs offer deals with food and drink with admission to encourage more revenue before, during or even more so after a meeting. There is so many possibilities but most people seem to get stuck on 15 races, family sport and the ‘boys are back in town’ blaring on some awful horns as riders sit aboard a clapped out pick up truck. It’s time to take it up a notch.1 point

I've never been to Plymouth but I do like what is happening down there with the way the club is being promoted. Hope to get there next season1 point

Might aswell blame the government as they've made a proper bulls lug of the country since they have been in power ( silver spoon brigade ) we need Donald in charge of our country not his lapdog Boris or any of the other shower that call themselves positions0 points

Averages don't lie,Morris is ok Shane's is a danger to himself and every rider in the same race imo. Has he ever done a meeting without crashing.0 points
