Job done. 18 points from reserve compared to Ipswich’s 2 the big difference tonight. Not getting too excited though as we’ve caught both Ipswich and Peterborough when they’ve been missing riders. But after the 2019 & 2021 seasons, it’s nice to feel positive about the Stars again.6 points

He’s a tremendous motorcyclist and has a huge heart - throws his bike in places others wouldn’t. Feel very privileged to see him as an Edinburgh home rider.5 points

wouldn't people rather see a more attractive and competitive BV come to their track? Sick of people moaning about lack of big names - one turns up and there's hell on5 points

Do people think the same as i do. The most entertaining rider to come from middle tier, since Darcy Ward.4 points

Yep definitely no grounds for getting carried away as we haven't faced a full strength side yet but it's a hugely encouraging start. There is still the Iversen/Kildemand situation to be clarified and Wolves home & away next week could bring us back down to earth but this team looks rock solid from top to bottom.3 points

Haha nothing is simple in speedway, to be fair though we could bring someone in on a much lower average than BWD has and they'd probably still score the same if not more.3 points

See below It's clear as day to me that this clearly means as it says. The League Cup matches precede Premiership matches so the rule stats changes can't happen until after 25% of league matches. At no point does it say Premiership only. Belle Vue signing Zagar is illegal. Also, regardless whether Belle Vue offers a 28 day contract to a rider it to doesn't stand up within the rules. The contract issued by Belle Vue ISN'T a facility as Jake Allen didn't cover a previously declared rider. He becomes an officially declard rider. Zagar could be signed as a new 28 day facility but only if there's a genuine reason for Jake Allen to be missing, to which there isn't. No matter how you look at it, unless you're totally bias this deal with Zagar shouldn't be ratified according to the rules. This is British Speedway though so anything goes3 points

Pretty awful track conditions tonight led to a dull gate and go meeting. Far too slick and underwatered. They were watering the track before the meeting but it needed more by heat 8 and nothing. Just grading. Got quite dusty at the end and some riders were far from happy. Get the water down. Sod it if riders moan. The paying public come first.3 points

Why is everyone sarcastically jumping all over Hawkins’ comments? It’s called PR. What are you all expecting him to publicly say? We’re sh!t so don’t bother coming on Thursday, besides, I love seeing Louis lose money?2 points

Surely Ipswich have got too make changes now? Tho I’m sure hawkins will have many positives too take from the meeting2 points

I wasn't there.... and tbh... not missed it waiting for Hawkins to come out and say that if reserves had have been there the Witches would have won..... or blame Doyle for touching tapes in 13...2 points

Excellent from our reserves going by the updates.Looks like we carried Lawson and Pickering a bit tonight, but still got the win. I'm like you Speedball not getting carried away atm, only with watching Pickering i am a bit. Can't believe we have doubled our wins already from last season, that's a positive straight away.2 points

Maybe because BWD average is assessed is the reason you don't get the +5%?2 points

Richie Worrall said on the British Speedway podcast this week that there a lot of new refs around this year and making some bad decisions so maybe more training needed?2 points

So Ipswich could've got a guest instead for Starke and used Danyon as the rising star, but again they take the cheap option and weaken the team even more. I know there is nothing riding on this meeting but they are taking the urine out of us fans.2 points

That must have been the "hire" van which Thorpie allegedly sold when he left the Diamonds2 points

I'm just wondering why there aren't any threads about New Cross on here. I think it's about time someone started one.2 points

Hmmm, then I wonder who they were!! I guess we'll never know Aye, just burst in through the fence on bend 4 where all the kids do Nah, that bloke at the gate is him?? I know who you're on about, but I just never made the connection in my head that the bloke at the gate for the past 10 years is the new co promotor!! He's a proper fan then2 points

For at least the last 10 years he has stood outside the season ticket turnstile gate .. so unless you sneak in under the fence I am surprised you have never seen him at home meetings2 points

As said before. Good win for the Stars. Josh and Richard below par tonight. Richard hasn't really got going yet. but i'm confident he will. The reserves won it for us. Great to see Jack scoring well. Heeps seems a problem for Ippo, on the plus side for them Riss and Batch are doing better than there starting average. I know it the cup and don't count to aves. But a 5.08 Riss has averaged 6.93 in the cup matches. And a 5.67 Batch ..... 6.62, 2 riders doing ok at the mo.1 point

Starke and Rowe in place of Hume and Shanes and it’s a comfortable home win. But it’s blatantly obvious where the problem lies in this team unfortunately. I’ve watched Heeps since he joined us at 16 years old, and never ever have I seen him so bad. Really sad to see to be honest.1 point

Well there is a restaurant near me called il gusto, and i am always reminded of Ol' Gustix when i pass by https://www.il-gusto-italiano.de/ I don't know if spam is on the menu though1 point

PLEASE NOTE: If you pay on the gate you will need to use Roman coins with Emperor May on them. Tickets can be purchased using a stone tablet. This Contender is ready!1 point

I hope its just a dip and he sticks with it and pulls through. Talent is never in question and in fairness if he gets back to basics, enjoys himself and stops over trying the results will come. Its far to early in the year to worry about anything and every extra lap will bring improvements.1 point

Thanks Lisa - I thought that was apparent from Poole's fixture list. Good news on the track is that fresh shale is due to be laid before the next home meeting on 11th May!!1 point

Don't do away these days. Will be watching Man U V Chelsea, with a gin. I almost want Ippo to win to cheer there fans up on here... But not quite 46-44 to the home side.1 point

As the league fixtures have not yet started, the rule won't apply, as Ouch has already explained, Zagar signed before the league begins so no rules have been Broken.1 point

Yep, with my daughter and her friend. Looking forward to it - hopefully not near any moaning minnies1 point

And a win where his biggest opposition had to start off 15 What's more worrying to me is the riders he was finishing behind,,some not even fancied good enough for an RS slot in this league. Unless he comes up with something good tonight,, this should be his last meeting. If he isn't going to produce at home,, there is no point in him being in the team. Yeah yeah I know I'm in the minority thinking that,, but I want my team to win trophies on a regular basis, and that includes this year.1 point
-
I was a no,, but now a yes,,, want to see Pickering,, and also,, it's easier for me to give damning opinions on ipswich riders if I've seen it. Hopefully the track may produce alot more than last week.1 point

If the rule was to mean 25% of a teams meetings it would have said 25% of a teams meetings. It says 25% of league meetings because it only means league meeting. It’s not ambiguous at all as long as you’re not trying to bend things around to suit a weird BSF point of view. I still think we should have announced Zagar in March and ran RR for him as Ipswich (to name one) did last year against, well you can guess who against. It’s not within the rules and you have to get your committee buddies to ok it but one for all and all for one - who am I kidding. Incredible that The Aces once again abide by the rules yet get berated while other teams continually flout them with next to no comment. Still it’s not as though many people are watching, now why is that?1 point

I had exactly the same problem, luckily my daughter is more switched on than I am and I have an Amazon firestick. She downloaded the Discovery Plus all on that and sports is on it.1 point

In the first meeting the outside gates were the best in the early races. I only judge from gate to first turn. What happens after that & who scores what points are from racing.1 point

To be slightly pedantic, 1 woman and 3 blokes...but as Lawrence Rogers ISN'T one of the 4-person ownership consortium, I'm left wondering who out of the 4 does have speedway promoting experience. Rogers put the consortium together but didn't invest any of his own money into buying into a share of the consortium. He's got promotion and speedway management experience and it would appear he's got a salaried position in the company. If, woe betide, all goes belly up, it won't be Rogers who loses his house.1 point

It’s true, the top flight needs to be just on full throttle tracks. I mean how would Fricke, Zagar, Jack Holder etc hold down heat leader spots if they had to learn how to slide their bikes regularly1 point

And some may enjoy the speedway and badger their parents or guardians to go again.... "It's free for me Dad" was always music to my ears.... When they are not there now, there is no loss to giving it a go... And when you own the food and drink outlets, the higher the footfall the more chance you have of taking money..1 point
