1) in theory it's Ablitt's job to beat the opposition number 7, so achieved that 2) for a sub 2.00 rider to beat a 3.9 reserve away from home 3 times is VERY GOOD6 points

Yeah and gone are the days when things like the League Riders' Championships were prestigious and meant something. The doubling up has taken away the glory of the sport where riders now ride against team mates in different race jackets every other night. Cash is king these days.5 points

Think oystercard got a cheek he wants to think of some of the moves he’s pulled over the years.4 points

Whilst I agree, speedway riders at that level have 6 months off, more than any the rest of us get. Can you see a smarzlik or janowski being allowed to withdraw from a Poland test match? Simply wouldn't be picked for SON or other matches.4 points

I've been going for over 40 years and still haven't got my head around the rulebook4 points

Only word to describe today ......awesome3 points

That's the spirit, call the Berwick fans out because your own team are woeful, as they were last night.3 points

Who said it was for Coles? We all know Godfrey's tight with his money he'll probably have replaced Jake Allen3 points

Tai is coming to the end of a very successful career, I dont blame him for picking and choosing what he wants to do now. Team GB need to look past him and to the future. To me a test match is a great opportunity to bring some new riders into the team as a trial before SON, to test options in case of any injury to Lambert or Bewley. Shame Howarth is ill, would have been great to see him racing today.3 points
-
Absolutely, I don't necessarily agree with him missing GB stuff or British Finals but if he wants to just do Extraliga and GP's and spend time with his family in between I can't begrudge him that, having become a parent four years ago and having a seasonal job myself I know that every moment with your little ones is precious at that age. I wouldn't be surprised if Lambert and Bewley are the SoN pairing (thought they might be last year before Tai fell) because I think we can all agree Woffy is well past his best now.3 points

There was a time when riders' were proud to don their national colours. Maybe I am really getting old3 points

But he is still attending. So at least fans will still be able to get photos and talk to him etc..3 points

What a dreadful meeting. Thankfully, I was in hospitality, so had beer for company. Magnus Magnusson entered the stadium after heat 14 and announced: Edinburgh Monarchs. You've scored 45 pts and no passes. Poole Pirates. You've scored 39 pts and no passes. At least heat 15 gave the paying punter some entertainment. For the Monarchs, Masters was decent, Pickering likewise, Hook excellent, Thomson fine until heat 12, Castagna dreadful until heat 14, Sarjeant had a meeting of two halves and Fredriksen should've stayed at home. For the Champions, the former Worrallloadofrubbish, Daniel King, Ben Cook and young Ablitt gained pass marks. unKempt did his job by winning heat 8. The other two were woeful. I believe that's our first victory over Poole since 1995 at Powderhall, when Kenny McKinna was part of a heat 16 5-1 over Lars Gunnestad (a proper Norwegian rider), securing a 56-40 demolition and a bonus point to boot. Them were the days! Roll on Friday...3 points
-
Can't understand deserved a point. Don't recall any EFs, Kemp fell off in a 3-3 and re-run was still a 3-3. If want to win at Edinburgh have to have it done by heat 12, if you don't you'll lose. Was no bad luck involved as such result was fair3 points

Can you believe that speedway promoters expect people to turn up and pay to watch speedway racing like this?2 points

We are in the Pirates fan club, you should join, not always easy but come the play offs we usually come good.2 points

Just been to the practice, Kyle was there working on his gating with Ty Proctor, (I think it was Ty), I've been to several practices and Kyle has been there getting laps in, working hard. If points were awarded for effort Kyle would have a bag full. I'm sure Kyle will come good.2 points

Roasting hot?? Puzzling!! The BSN team were wrapped up in anoraks with the hoods up. But Dave & Graham in the after match Friday Focus were in their short sleeve shirts - no jackets/coats. BSN must just be the southern softies. (Is this a racist comment nowadays?!!)2 points

To be fair, when you look at the original GB team, you could say Lambert is replacing Bewley; Connor is replacing Palin and Richie Worrall replacing Howarth; so not much difference from the original team. Obviously we all wanted to see Dan AND Lambert riding but hey ho, you can't fault Dan in this.2 points

Monarchs top 2 scored exactly the same as Pirates top 3 - that where the difference was. Well done Monarchs.2 points

I’ve watched several meetings via emtv over the last two years and lasts nights was probably the least entertaining racing wise but the score line kept the meeting interesting.2 points

Finally managed to coax the old man out of his covid hibernation for this match. Much as I rate them if be disappointed if ended up Hume and bailey replacing howarth and bewley. Been very poor communication from team GB regarding this. Website has loads of interviews this week but not one mention of Dan or howarth being unavailable2 points
-
So Kyle Howarth is out now? Wonder how Dan's got on with his fitness test? The way Danyon Hume has been riding he wouldn't do any harm if selected2 points

For a sport of the size of speedway the millions that did come in via Sky was massive however the money & the opportunity was completely wasted. When sky came onboard in 99 is was because they saw speedway as the next big thing. Don't also forget that at that time the polish broadcasters were onboard to show live UK speedway in Poland. That was one of the main reasons Gollob was riding in the league. It should all have been enough to restart the sport and put it in a far better position than we see it today. It's a case of what could have been!2 points

I gather the interpretation of the IRR rule has been changed this week. It is once again the case that the injury must be a new one caused during the meeting. (Which is not what the rule actually says.) I'm guessing this is sour grapes from KL It is a very bad change as it puts the power in the hands of the medical officer (which is why it was changed in the first place)1 point

Yes, much as Derek does a great job, no-one touches Michael as centre green presenter for me. Might have had engagement with plastic whistle as it was a Saturday afternoon and one of the diddy cups started up here for the football today1 point

He's definitely got at least one world title in him if he can gate a bit better and miost importantly be a bit more dominant on track, I feel he sometimes lacks a bit of self belief and ends up riding a bit defensively. I'd say as things stand he looks more likely (through seeing the GPs and going by Polish scores) to do it than Bewley but he has that extra development and experience in comparison. Hopefully they can both win some, depends very much who else is around when they hit their prime1 point

Trouble is Tai has blown his mouth off for years about how TeamGB is so important to him, oh no that's wrong, that he wants to win a World Cup with a British team to add to his haul of World Championship trophies.1 point

Mullard rant. Probably undeserved but oh well. lleft home this morning and as I got to Chorley I had a phone call advising me of the line up changes. A quick turn around and back home I went. £44 lost (2 tickets) but saving me £100 in petrol. I knew Dan probably wouldn’t ride but with them having a rider on stand by I thought it’s worth the risk. but howarth with covid. I thought we do t have to isolate now. So no reason to not ride. Personally I think it’s an excuse but who knows. they announced tai but he’s apparently gone on holiday. Excuse me you have 6 months off for your holidays. Not mid season. just seems a pointless meeting now. That won’t help team GB at all as only lambert and Brennan are in the meeting. hope it’s a good one for the fans. But for this fan, over and out.1 point

Well apart from the fact it would be a bit unfair on Berwick there is no reason not to pick Bomber. He is on the form of his life at the moment and had it not been for Berwick having a match I'm sure he would have been in the team. Maybe not Glasgow fans' favourite after his poor season with us but he is a trier.1 point

Rider 4 would be better not turning up, what a massive let down he’s been1 point

Wasn’t a great watch, think the dry warm weather we’ve had all week didn’t help made the track slick and difficult to pass. Yes I know imagine complaining about it being dry and sunny. Good win in the end masters and Pickering doing the business and paco eventually turning up in heat 14. Special mention to young hooky getting better by the week.1 point
