We were well beaten by the team that gated better ,If you are happy with that then fair enough. But don’t give it the Violin rubbish Basso is a racer as you well know but if the track doesn’t allow that then he is pissin against the wind.3 points
-
I agree but continue to do that and we wont beat anyone like this over 2 legs in the play offs. Fairness doesn't get results. Tonight was about gating not racing, I was getting bored watching on TV but Poole got a 12 point win and the fans looked like they were going home happy. Could we pull back 12 points at home if this was a 2 leg affair. No chance IMO, our track is too fair.3 points

Next time there down, perhaps instead of playing eye of the tiger, they should play something by the bay city rollers2 points

Hardly "second season syndrome" he's had a fantastic year & having one disappointing match doesn't change that2 points

Seems to be the theme in speedway if a rider like Jonas is doing well they will end up at Glasgow the following season. Hopefully, his friendship with the Flint family will see him take the sensible route and remain at Berwick in 2023.2 points

Ostergaard got away with a huge roller. Lawson was well pissed and got straight in the phone. Crowd were shouting at ref throughout heat and afterwards. Ridiculous miss.2 points

Interesting to read the view points of the track when one particular Poole fan slammed Berwick for the limited amount of passing... Oh the hypocrisy!2 points

Poor meeting overall, hyper slick track with almost no passing. Had hoped to see better.2 points

You only have to look at Google Maps and the adjacent development to the showground to see the intensity of the housing. The Grandstand, pits, track and backstraight areas are roughly 150m x 200m. Overlay that on any part of the housing, and you'll see 40-50 homes.2 points

F1 doesn't have a track operating in London either, but still gets plenty of attention. The 'mass media' is much less important than it once was. Few under the age of 50 read newspapers or even watch mainstream TV these days, so the opportunities are there for sports that can gain attention through other channels. The problem of course, is that speedway is largely followed by people well over 50 and unfortunately has been unable or unwilling to address that underlying issue for the past 20-30 years. Just as an example, any sport of any credibility has an app where you can get news and live results, but does British speedway? The SGP now has one which is a start, but even that's somewhat lame (e.g. its developers are apparently unable to even make a proper logo for it).2 points

Green Sheets are not a reflection of this season, because they still include some from 2021. Averages are updated regularly now, showing Home, Away & Overall for 2022. Note that the Green Sheet figures are updated as soon as the referee's official scorecard is available, so will not reflect the current month (and don't forget that the number of matches used for the GSA will reduce by 2 for August): https://britishspeedway.co.uk/2022-rider-statistics/2 points

A bit like all your trolling (Waits patiently for guaranteed response as Trackprat has to have the last word!)2 points

He will be the first sportsman in history who finishes bottom and second botton in two leagues who also qualifies for winners and runners up medals in the same competitions... "How did you do this year Bomber?".. "Finished bottom".... "And first"... "And second".... "And third... "And fourth, and fifth and sixth as well"..2 points

Yes, if the team manager was more aware / ruthless, Berwick could have come away with a draw!2 points

If Alex is learning from Dale Allitt, it would explain why the team are where they are now. Bottom of the league.2 points

Gaters paradise good win for us good crowd just poor speedway .1 point

It is clear that we try to place our emphasis on entertainment firstly by preparing a track to race on. That track was prepared for the home team which isn’t a criticism it is there choice but it was to the detriment of entertainment. I know which track I would rather watch.1 point

There have been a number of people mentioning the lack of racing in London and having lived in the capital for most of my life I can only feel very sad at what has happened. While I was young my parents took me racing to Wimbledon, West Ham, New Cross, Hackney, Crayford, White City and Romford for Speedway. We also went to Wimbledon, Harringay, West Ham, White City, Walthamstow and Crayford for Stock Cars. At the same time there was greyhound racing at all of those tracks except Romford which still has a greyhound track. Two other greyhound tracks that come to mind are Crayford and Wandsworth. Except for the Romford and Crayford greyhound stadiums all are now closed and knocked down with shopping centres or housing built on the site. Tracks just outside London included Staines, Arena Essex, Rye House and Rayleigh which I enjoyed racing at but no longer exist. The whole situation is very sad for speedway, stock car and greyhound racing fans. London has become a desert with ever more housing built and then our political masters wonder why the young find entertainment in spraying graffiti everywhere or having mob fights at a weekend. Now my closest tracks for speedway are Poole and Isle of Wight but public transport no longer can get me home afterwards. For stock cars the choice is Aldershot and that is a 30 minute walk from the station! I am just happy to have enjoyed the 60s, 70s, 80s and 90s when I could enjoy motor racing on 2 and 4 wheels in the London area and feel sorry for those who are growing up now.1 point

I'm sure Danny King will be keen to take your advice, what does he know after all.1 point

The issue is 2 out of 3 HLs are riding well. (A different one struggles each time!) Our team is not built to carry a HL so that just puts pressure on Drew and the Cook boys. The away meeting at Berwick is the first time in a while all 3 HLs got 10 or above.1 point

It's funny that pure statistics don't always tell the whole story, the one that caught my eye Kyle Howarth 7.13 9.38 -2.25 Hans Andersen 5.97 8.19 -2.22 On the face of it you'd say that Hans has had a disaster of a season, but Kyle a great season1 point

Capacity is 2,000 - although it will increase once all the work on the stadium has finished. They've sold out a few fixtures I believe (Scunthorpe, Poole and Glasgow come to mind), and have been close to capacity on most of the others. Redcar at home in the league was probably the worst crowd of the season.1 point
-
Ii think your team maybe stronger than at the moment gating wins races at Poole . that's why I said danyon would bgo well tonight .all I hope we see a decent meeting win or lose1 point

A competition with the format of regional mini leagues followed by a final (and usually semi-finals) has been held in the second tier every year since 1997 with the exception of 2003, 2011,2017, 2020, 2021. The first three due to longer league programmes, the last two covid. The competition is on its sixth name: Knock-out Cup (despite most of the fixtures involving no-one being knocked out) National Trophy Premier Trophy League Cup Championship Shield and now Jubilee League1 point

I know Bewley had said he wanted to ride the British Final this year, and Adam Ellis also confirmed Bewley would be riding on the podcast. Guessing it was just the official confirmation that Dan didn't know about, so I doubt it was a big surprise to him. Still a bit weird that he found out that way, though. Guessing that shows the levels of organisation!1 point

Personally I think also that speedway not featuring in London is a factor as not having a track operating in the capitol doesn't catch the attention of the mass media.1 point

If the club got their finger out their a$$ & make 2-3 changes King's Lynn may not be (unbelievably) a million miles from top 4. Facing Wolves on Thursday to which has to be a home win. This home meeting brings last chance saloon, being 12 points behind the opposition. With a good home win this will come down to 9 with 2 meetings in hand. To the King's Lynn management, FOOKIN DO SOMETHING FFS. It actually doesn't matter if the changes make the team worse, at least it'll look like you've tried to do something positive, FOR THE FANS The team needs freshening up asap1 point

The averages printed in the Speedway Star aren't the correct averages that are used though, The Greensheet averages are.1 point

Alex is a very long term King's Lynn Speedway fan and fan of speedway in general, he is one half of our main team sponsors, Minors and Brady, so a successful businessman with the attributes that go with it. When Peter Schroek lost his job I believe Alex was asked if he wanted to take on the job, obviously becoming main team sponsor he was more than interested in team fortunes, he learnt some of the ropes from Rob Lyon and Dale Allitt and is still learning I guess you could say ....1 point

Truly baffles me Dean.. No point having teams in existence if you dont create rivalry.. I remember fondly the early to mid nineties when BV raced against Wolves.. A few hundred away fans at every meeting.. And plenty of (good natured) abuse between both sets of fans.. Add in "Sammy" swiping "Young Joseph's" leg away as they entered turn 3 and you had uproar.. Two things I could guarantee.. One. Both promotions would have loved looking at the fixture list and seeing as many of these matches planned in as was possible.. And two? Anyone visiting for the first time, or maybe had just started going a few times, would definitely have been back the week later.. Noisy, tribal followings... It is what makes a team sport successful, and delivers growth.. UK Speedway seems to be ran like a Group of Gentlemens Clubs with those who own them quite happy to have "somewhere to go" rather than worry about ever expanding...1 point

Well it happened (was it Dan Gilkes?) and so some promoter demanded the rule change. Not sure if it is still there though.1 point
