  1. Jason Doyle was magnificent tonight even by his standards Passing lynn riders. Team riding and slowing down races and taking a tax sub ride all before the biggest GP in 48 hours time. whatever he gets paid he is worth every penny. Love the celebratory wheelies around the bends of the stock car track. Mr entertainment

  2. Story of the season unfortunately, just too inconsistent and not quite good enough, well done Witches. In the interests of consistency I'll say for the umpteenth time tac subs shouldn't be permitted for home teams.

  3. Some people don’t believe the moon landings happened.. There’ll always be fantasists and idiots. Still, nice that people care so much about us now. Wasn’t long ago nobody bothered with little old Plymouth.

  4. He also started this season on Godden engines which he couldnt get off the statrt with and picked up the shoulder injury in his second meeting I think. his form did pick up when he switched back to GM's but the injury was too much and he needed a break from racing, good to see him back on a track he goes well at.

  7. I could not disagree more, if Holder want's to return to the GPs & qualifies, there's no reason he shouldn't be there. As for having accepted a wildcard in that final year, not sure what that means, as almost half of this year's field got wild card / reserve picks. Finally if the "new generation" want their chance, they need to beat the "old generation" and qualify for the GPs. Otherwise why should they be in there?

  8. No. But he was in a van not a Carr.

  9. Well bearing in mind his position at Peterborough and the fact he put last years title winning team together, I think it fair he celebrated after playing a part in the clubs success. I do see that it’s not nice to see other teams officials celebrating especially when you haven’t won anything of note for a quarter of a century.

  10. Is the local vicar going to be there Steve?

  11. They’ve been using guests for Kennett all season, most who’d have scored more than he would. Clearly he wasn’t going to return, just playing the numbers game and had no intention of signing anyone to replace him. Should count themselves lucky

  12. A very enjoyable meeting this evening. For Lynn, Jakobsen impressed early doors but didn’t quite carry it through to win the meeting. Pickering was a huge disappointment compared to when I’ve watched him previously. Thought Worrall rode well. Similarly, Jason Edwards also rode well. He’s definitely coming on well and improving all the time. One to watch. For the Witches, what a pleasure it is to watch Jason Doyle ride. Team rode brilliantly and is just generally a class above. As mentioned previously by another poster, worth every penny! I was impressed by Tungate, rode some good lines. It was also pleasing to see Summers come good in his last race. Couldn’t fault the effort of Starke but just couldn’t put the points on the board tonight. Understand the disappointment of the King’s Lynn promotion but they only have themselves to blame for losing that meeting tonight.

  13. Not the first time this season riders have felt Lawson went over the line shutting off trying to slow down a race, there was some afters earlier in the years in one of the pairs meetings, remember Simon stead saying on the podcast he felt Lawson was a bit too naughty on that occasion. Must say I was surprised how angrily Rohan reacted today, didn’t think he was too naughty but I guess in the heat of battle tempers run high! Like the afters tbh adds to the entertainment, also enjoyed Doyle coming and saying to Rohan who cares we won let’s do some wheeelies haha excellent ride from Rohan to secure third and the win tho!

  15. King's Lynn robbed by the referee again, the speedway board needs to do something about it! No wonder why our sport is dying on it's arse!!

  19. Well done to the Promotion. If Newman can get back to his 2019 Eastbourne form, can be an astute signing. KO Cup imo is our best chance of Silverware. Lets hope Erik is back in the near future.

  22. Leicester won the Championship and Shield in 2019 using a guest for the injured Richie Worrall for a large part of the season. I don't recall there being a huge amount of "flak" being fired towards us for that (there was some, inevitably) but I don't think anywhere near the amount Plymouth are getting over Kennett. Clubs cannot control the timings of their riders' injuries, can they.

  25. Firstly what do you know about Peterborough finances, clearly nothing so this kind of throwaway comment does little credit to you, it’s not helpful to Peterborough and does not help the image of your own club either. The Showground management postponed the meeting because they wanted to use the Showground for something else, nothing to do with Peterborough Speedway and as tenants we had little or no say, the fact that they have re arranged it promptly for BHD Monday at the end of August shows they clearly were trying to help re arrange it as August meetings at the EOES in recent years have been as rare as rocking horse poo.

  27. Excellent move by the Bears management, I was very worried that they were going to stick with Bickley for the rest of the season, and realistically couldn't think of one rider he might actually beat !! Welcome to Kyle N ,as has been said this may just kick start his career again

  28. Kyle (Newman) struggled at Brummies in early 2019 in a struggling team when asked to be a heat leader. I always felt he was unfairly jocked out of the team when others were delivering less at the time but it was an averages game. He then seemed to find a whole new lease of life and best form in ages at Eastbourne in 2019 when he replaced Brennan and where he said he was enjoying racing again and again in 2021 before they closed. He struggled with fitness at Oxford it seems in a difficult No 2 role and seemed rusty race fitness wise when I saw him earlier in the season. If he can have a spell at reserve at Redcar and get the enjoyment back he could be a massive weapon for them. As for Bickley, flash websites and social media and stickers on your van doesn't mean anything on the Track. He's been passed and left behind now by 3-4 years worth of newcomers. Never going to be better than a good NDL Heat Leader, a big fish in a little pond.

  29. When JK signed for Berwick they had 9 matches (that count) left. But Jonas would have been absent for two of them (last night and clash with Wroclaw GP2) so barring rearrangements would never have ridden 8 matches.

  30. In those years gone bye it was the British Promoters that called the shots. The British were the ones that introduced demands upon riders one way or another, An off shore rider had to commit to the British club & if they should decide to race in their homeland then the British club would only be able to cover with a minimum average rider in their position. So really it's a case of the boot is on the other foot & someone else has the pot of gold & built their own empire.

  31. So riders have to attend practice? In the last riders missed out when Poland had Friday fixtures! Have to disagree about Brennan being "very unlucky" not to get a wild card pick. The 3 wild cards all finished higher up in the qualifiers! Not sure why they'd have to take part in timed practices, these are to decide riding order for the top 16, not reserves!

  32. Should we read anything into Richard Andrews not getting a r/r ride (in heat 6)? If he beats Kieran Douglas (as you'd expect) Plymouth would have won by a point! Personally I think it's a big mistake using a reserve when a top 5 rider can get the r/r ride. If Abraham gets the extra ride but Andrews is the better rider on the day, it's a lost race for Andrews. However if Andrews gets the extra ride but it turns out Abraham is the better rider on the day, he can replace Andrews later on (twice if necessary) so no harm done!

  36. I went once for MK v Bradford inter league cup I can’t remember much about the racing so I don’t think that was memorable but I did really like the set up, incredibly basic , even more basic than Berrington Lough Berwick , but liked it and thought the view looking down onto the track was great

  40. After a meeting at hull back in the 90s I along with Martin Dixon and I think the other may have been David Walsh got engine checked, this was the year when they made you drill a hole from barrel to cases so as they could put a clip through so that you couldn’t take the head off without breaking the clip, we were told after heat 10 I think, I had only scored a couple of points but I got the feeling at the time that they weren’t after me but it had to appear random, anyway I think we were all ok as nobody got banned

  41. If you read my post it says I don’t care what was in his system be it one of the three mentioned or all of them. At the stadium it was rumoured to be alcohol at first then drugs. The point is that he had officially failed a test (non-negative), if the ref had felt he was safe he wouldn’t have withdrawn him. I am not being judgemental I am simply stating that as we do not know what effect this would have had on him, he was risking not only his safety. Times have changed health and safety (sometimes bunkers) of everyone at a track is at risk As for the comment on the M25 if you want to ride a bike on the M25 at 70mph without brakes good luck. Times change, 45 years ago the bikes reacted differently, engine was an up right, machines go faster. I have seen to many serious crashes over the years (Ales Drmyl’s being one of the worst). At the end of the day he has failed trackside and lab samples. The fact that he intended to race is what annoys me.

  42. I don’t care what drugs were in his body, high dosage prescription/illegal/or as first suspected alcohol) what troubles me most about this whole saga is that Ben knew what he had taken before arriving at the stadium and he should know if it is or not against the rules. Knowing this he still intended to ride and would have if the test hadn’t been carried out, it is the complete lack of respect for safety, not only for the other riders, but the medics, track staff everybody in the pits as well as the crowd. Just recently there have been a few crashes where the bike has gone over the fence, that is what I find indefensible. It’s not okay to then say it was medical prescription and the gp can back this up - it still doesn’t make it right and anybody that knew he was doing this is equally guilty.

  43. https://fimspeedway.com/news/flint-joins-brennan-in-cardiff-sgp2-showdown-on-sunday With Brennan no longer the wild card, the No.16 race jacket opened up and British bosses have nominated Flint. The 19-year-old steps into the line-up for the biggest meeting of his career so far.
