  1. Not really comparable, Poland have proper teams their fans can identify with... we don't know who's going to turn up from one week to the next!

  2. I’m sure this will be a quiet thread! Fixture now confirmed. Weather forecast looks abysmal for the South and South West next week which won’t help. No idea on the team or any guess for us Gladiators. Poole going to look for a guest for Worrall or operate R/R? Unfortunately I feel this has come at the worst time with Hans now also out. Leaves just Morley, Complin and Coles currently fit and available. I’m sure other people will find this as a great cause of humour but as a Gladiator fan, I’ve found this season deeply frustrating with our injury issues. Personally speaking, I’d rather have our own riders to support than constantly changing guests every meeting but that was the hand we were dealt. It’s still been a great season for the club despite all the trials and tribulations. We shall kick on in 2023 I’m sure. Poole should be too strong, probably over both legs. Hopefully we can get two big crowds for these meetings.

  3. Plymouth still have a good chance with their little track. We got hammered there earlier this year. And Plymouth scraped a draw at Poole. So clearly Plymouth favourites to go through and it will take an almost impossible effort from Pirates to make it to the semis. Can they do it against all the odds?

  4. Plymouth shouldn't have needed the BSPL to point out why that is the right thing to do....

  6. Oh here we go. The Forum Trolls / Bullies now turn their attention to Glasgow and more specifically one of the best british riders of his generation with innuendo and queries about why he is not riding. The "form / mantra" of these trolls is clear. That's why people as "why are Poole so hated" For the easily provable record Craig Cook has suffered a series of high speed crashes in recent months, has probably come back too soon from some of them and in almost all cases has been an innocent victim. Its bad enough at the comments made and some of the inferences, winks and nods. When the guy also has well documented and well know mental health issues about which he has been very honest, it really does make you realise how desperately sad these trolls are. People in glass houses really should not throw pebbles and stones, you never know a bloody great boulder may land on you at any time! Behave! Leave the guy alone. He's beaten up physically and taking time out to recover, hopefully to smash the daylights out of Poole where it matters on the track with big points.

  7. You really need to grow up and stop playing games, if you want to actually say what you are alluding to then do it otherwise keep quiet.

  10. Plymouth absolutely decimated by injuries and IMO they have no chance over two legs which is a great pity, would have been a great tie with full strength teams.

  16. Unfortunately despite all the good ideas and suggestions put forward on this topic, no one in authority is listening nor will those in charge take a inward look at what they are dong to the sport. None so blind as those who do not want to see comes to mind. Riders want to earn an annual salary in a six months season while the rest of the population has to work twelve months. (If they have winter jobs are the pay rates demanded by the riders over ambitious) They have expensive equipment that is not robust enough to cater with the work that it is required of it hence the regular expensive overhaul after a few races that adds to the cost. Most of the tracks in operation today were not built for today’s machines and on the subject of tracks, the entry point in terms of costs for new tracks, in order to cater for the bikes and safety aspect etc., is now so high and even if you could find the land who in their right mind would invest in a project where the business model is dictated by third parties who have put nothing into the new track and will basically tell you when you can open and run meetings unless you operate outside the current set up and follow the IOW. The sport is not a joke, it is some of the parties involved from riders to track owners and as has been said before, as long as the punters turn up no one is going to take on board the possibility that trying something new might just be better option rather then sticking with the current format with dwindling support on the terraces. Today people are rarely prepared to wait yet it can take two plus hours to run 15 minutes of racing. Younger people lose the will to live whilst waiting for the next heat to be run and if they do get hooked, how often is the team made up of guests and Mr R/R. Nothing will change just fewer and fewer people bothering to go to a track and the way the cost of living is going speedway however good it can be will be way down the list of spending and many will consider that it is not value for money if attending a live meeting.

  17. Just a heads up in case you're not seen it around already, but Kelvin Tatum has a brand new podcast of his own and is available now! First guest is Dan Bewley, and we talk with Dan for just over an hour about all sorts. If you click this link it will take you to whichever app you choose >> TATUM TALKS PODCAST (Apple, Amazon & Spotify are defo working, Google Podcasts can be hit & miss but that's their end not ours!) Subscribe on whatever app you use and you won't miss anything. There is also a "Short Version" 20 mins or so on YouTube, but for the full goods you need to listen to the podcast..! The idea is to just be able to talk for longer than is allowed for TV, and for Kelv to be able to explain further what happened in various incidents, and to have time to give his opinion and reflect on the big events he's been to. The plan is to do them as and when we can really, probably around GPs and the playoffs but we'll always make sure we have a quality guest as we have with Dan! Hope you enjoy it!

  18. I still fancy Lublin to come through. Cierniak won't score Zero at home and Michelsen if fitter will score more than 6.

  19. Yet another podcast ,same old same old, unless you’re going to be controversial and have on controversial guests we seen and heard it all before,,quite frankly I’m bored at hearing about getting the “right set up “ not for me I’m afraid and it’s not a dig at Dan or kelvin

  21. It’s just another further point for speedway that the board who run the show need to be independent. is it the correct thing to move the meeting, as a Poole fan yes as a Plymouth fan no, that’s life and one was always going to be upset. is it in all honesty is in the best interests of speedway having one team decimated by injuries made to ride ?! Of course it’s not. regardless of what people say Poole wanted it early so they could take advantage of plymouths injuries and losses who wouldn’t. plymouth wanted it later to give themselves a chance to run with the team they assembled and make it competitive and a good watch for fans of both clubs but also neutrals. any speedway fan or someone with the interests of speedway above the interest of any team should have wanted this match to be ran at a later date to make it competitive. im sure Poole fans will argue but i don’t really see the argument IF you put speedways interest first and not Pooles interest.

  23. So common sense was used and the first leg of the Playoff Quarter Final takes place on Tuesday at Plymouth. The delaying tactics trying to be used by Plymouth failed to impress the Management Committee who stated that Plymouth Meeting with Glasgow could no wait and that the Playoffs, rightly, take precedence. Poole are clearly concerned that Steve Worrall is injured and might not be fir to ride either meeting. Whether we go for a guest or R/R is open to debate. There is limited choice due to the playoff rules and I would just go with R/R. It weakens us but the options are Arnio, Flint, Batchelor, Sedgmen, (who I think has returned to Australia) Etheridge, Wells, (who has now retired) Plymouth are without Eddie Kennett, who might have a late fitness test (joke) Barker, and Andersen, who is out with concussion. Harris and Nicholls guesting? Wouldn’t surprise me and will certainly make Plymouth a strong team. Current forecast is for sunshine and a risk of light showers being blown through on a stiff breeze. No real risk of a rainoff. For the return, I believe Scott Nicholls could guest for Steve Worrall with the extra 5% available. Thoughts?

  24. No Passing? So you missed Musielak pass Flint in heat 1 or Heat 4 Holder passing Flint 0r Becker passing Sedgmen in heat 7 or Masters getting by after a tussle with Mountain in Heat 9 or Heat 10 when gated on 5 - 1, only for Becker and Douglas to get by Kerr. or Heat 13 Holder's pass on Morris or Heat 14 Douglas pass on Howarth I admit I have seen better and more exciting meetings at Sheffield this season, but to claim that there was no passing is simply not true.

  26. Oh absolutely I’m not disagreeing with that, but like others have mentioned, we’ve been fobbed off with poor guests pretty much all season so it’s no wonder, can’t exactly have a go at the guests either, lambert shouldn’t be coming in and riding at 3 that’s ridiculous

  30. Really????? After a challenging 48 hours of weather. At 6:30 the promotion had the track in a condition that Tom Brennan confirms all were happy to ride. The referee then, against the wishes of the promotion, instructed, unnecessary, unwarranted, ill judged remedial works that rendered the track, arguably unsafe. He then took the decision not to allow Richie to test the track and called off the meeting. The Call Off was entirely caused by the Referee. Mark has every right to be angry. He should be reimbursed for all losses incurred, and the league cut-off date should be extended to include the running of this meeting.

  43. For me... Six man teams... 9 heats where all pairs race against each other.. Heats 10/11/12 is lowest to highest point scorers at that stage.. Then 13/14 two nominated heats.. 14 heats with 8 riders having 5 rides and 4 having four... 2 x HL's, 2 x SS's and 2 x "Juniors" similar to how Poland do it.. Top league have the best ranked "juniors".. 2nd league have the next level "up and coming juniors".. Two leagues based on attendances, not "it is better for us to ride in this one".. Doubling up probably needed until development delivers enough riders (maybe one Div 1 HL per 2nd Div team?) but also clubs get to ride on their best night to get a crowd, and only ride on an off night when on TV.... Eg Poole should ride in Div 1 now but on a Wednesday... Seems barmy that riders can dictate that a team that would enhance the product overall have to drop a Div to ensure these riders can earn money in Denmark... 14 heats saves points money too so pass a 1/15th saving to the fans via admission, (over a quid at all Div 1 and 2 tracks)... And deliver a better RR process to reduce/eradicate guests, (it isnt too difficult to come up with one), so hopefully engage the many thousands who no longer attend regularly but closely follow the sport.. Or possibly just carry on as normal... .

  47. Forgetting that 8 days previously he’d scored a 4 ride maximum in the European semi final ( which Team GB won) while Harris was replaced in two of his rides after scoring only 4 points. It pîsses me off that I even need to point this out but it seems that the numpties online spout cråp with impunity. i know I shouldn’t bite, but when I get personal messages slagging him off and read some of this on here I just like to put the record straight. it’s no wonder 99% of riders and officials in the sport avoid this site like the plague.
