  1. The whole of last season was a farce.

  2. Biggest mistake by the promoters overturning the 2 home 2 away LEAGUE meetings for 2023. They should have asked the fans what they think!

  4. I see Son of God has signed for Leicester . That possibly makes the Jubilee Cup thingy even sillier

  5. Brilliant to see the Comets back (always one of my favourite places to visit) and plan is for a couple of trips up next season (my local RL club Siddal have away matches at Kells (Whitehaven) and Wath Brow Hornets (Cleator Moor) so with a bit of luck I'll be able to do both on the same day). Had a bit of a look at the track a few weeks ago and it looks first class.

  8. Kerr is still at Sheffield apparently. Sedgmen & Mountain out for Bellego & Gilkes are the only changes apparently.

  9. 'Fraid not...... Rowe is 5.08, James W is 5.51 and JJ 4.72. Per the official BSPL list. You got a drawing board to go back to?

  10. If they did, I would doubt they would take any notice anyway.

  11. Not their fans though unfortunately I actually have a soft spot for poole, the 3 times I've been the racing and atmosphere was brilliant and the town is nice too.

  12. Which makes it nothing more than a pre season challenge unfortunately. Rew, Dan T and Ablitt completing Poole then presumably.

  17. Sad to see the demise of my favourite magazines. I have read all of them from back to front. I do get other periodicals that I read the parts that interest me. The thing about Backtrack and Classic Speedway was that I read every single word. I will miss them very much - but - I do have every single copy of both to look back on, and, that at least is a great compensation. Thanks to Tony, Susie et al for all their hard work, they can be very proud of how their Magazines have enterained us over the years. In a very real sense I can say - - -- 'THANKS FOR THE MEMORIES'.

  18. From what I understand he's staying 250 next year with the intention of transition as the year goes on . late birthdays always make it a difficult decision for parents as whether to move up and get an average or wait till the following year. If he commits to international 250cc as well could be September before he is available.

  19. The only reasons Lewy keeps yawning are the nightmares of Plymouths season keep waking him up in the Poole section.

  20. ..and still you can't keep away! Keep on yawning. You'll have lots of opportunity.

  21. I think alot might depend on the other clubs running 2 teams wanting it. Leicester and Belle Vue for example would also have 12 PL home meetings, plus 2/3 KO Cup potentially. That would leave them with a mighty 30+ Home meetings including the NL ones (2 x Home). Oxford, Berwick, Edinburgh, Plymouth would also have similar issues, as the creation of this new Group comp. + KO Cup includes extra meetings. So they could also be hitting 30+ Home meetings with NL x2 at Home. This would be without any double headers taking places of course, not too sure how common they are now? On the other hand for us, Kent and Mildenhall, the summer would be very light on meetings if there are only 7/8 Home league meetings. For the Comets, this might mean filing the season up with Challenge meetings or others. For the new venture to be very successful, I think we would need regular weekly meetings (to an extent). Going 5 or 6 weeks without a Home meeting for example, which i've seen at some clubs this year, wouldn't be great.

  22. Surely until everything is finalised nothing will be said? And I expect it all takes longer than people think.

  23. They couldn't fit all last seasons fixtures in, pointless trying to double it really

  24. "The inclusion of a MYLAPS timing system is great, it won’t fundamentally change the sport, but all the timings will be accurate and there will be no dead heats or poor decisions when it comes to the finish line" What happens if two riders have identical times lol!

  25. Rumour I heard (the day before PL & CL AGM) was that Workington, Belle Vue, Leicester, Oxford and Kent were definitely in for 2023. Armadale were going to drop out. Berwick and Plymouth also thinking of dropping out due to CL being 2 home & 2 away. (So presume they'r back on board now that CL is only 1 home & 1 away?). Mildenhall hadn't decided, (but they wouldn't be present at PL & CL AGM anyway, and surely they'll be in for NDL)?

  29. I've been told that at the AGM its been vetoed that rising star riders get a 25% deduction that was rumoured If they are kept within the club once not being eligible, as only really Belle Vue would benefit as Brennan is a class above, so the other clubs out-voted the Aces to stop them seeking an advantage so the Belle Vue side I have seen on here may need rethinking as Brennan should come in at 5.71

  34. The trouble now is : Only 8 meaningful fixtures ! the scrapping of 2 home/away is going to have a significant impact on attendances, unless it's a KOC Final meeting. Only a handful of fans turn up for mickey mouse competitions!

  35. Fricke harris lawson morris Someone mountain RS that’s what I can see. Good team that.

  36. Always makes a difference when a rider races a track weekly rather than occasionally, Lawson is good enough and experienced enough to adapt to anywhere as a home rider. Essentially Lynn's side looks like MPT & KK for Lawson & Worrall, will need someone to step up and replace Richard's scoring.....Pickering you would think is that man.

  46. I think the "E-Ticket only" also helped to keep people away. My wife, son, two grandchildren and myself would have gone if we were allowed to print out tickets as we have been able to in the past. The no printout email ticket policy prevents oldies (some may say dinosaurs) like me who do not have, and do not want a modern phone, at up to date prices, which many of us cannot afford, are being discriminated against, in this modern technical world.

  47. Sad news indeed. Dick was the sole survivor of the Bristol team that I saw at the first meeting I attended on August 19 1949 when he scored 6 points from 4 rides at reserve when Bristol rode against New Cross in front of a 22000 crowd at Knowle Stadium in the second leg of the National Trophy , I still have the programme. Dick was one of the finest riders ever to represent Bristol and was loyal right up to the closure in mid 1955. Only then did he move to another club Southampton. I imagine that during his spell at Bristol he would have drawn interest from the bigger clubs as he top-scored all over the country. He also scored 16 points for England in the Test Match at Harringay in 1952 in a very late call due to injuries.
