  3. It's when incidents like this happen that the lack of media coverage isn't such a bad thing. Within a few hours of this postponement there should have been an announcement of an investigation into the circumstances. Contact people at the stock car meeting to confirm that part of the story. Phil Morris should be there today to see for himself this damage and what's needed to fix it. It should be easy enough to then see how difficult it is to get those replacement parts. When Morris took this job he said: "There are three words associated with this role that stand out for me: integrity, transparency and perception, and all of those are big things for me which I feel need to be improved." Now is the time to prove that things will change. Maybe King's Lynn are telling the truth, if that's the case there's still no harm done in looking into it.

  5. You gave your opinion, so why can't I give mine? So am I not allowed to disagree with people? Is that not what a forum is for, to give your thoughts? If I disagree with a point someone has made, so what if I offer an alternative view to them, they don't have to agree with me, but I am allowed to share my view!

  8. Think you need to grow up. The Oxford promotion are far from that ridiculous comment and are showing the way forward in very difficult times for the sport. Tapping up ? It happens all the time, in every sport and more so in speedway. Who’s going to sanction anybody when it’s done by absolutely all of them from the top down, it always has done since the sport started.

  9. I'd be front of the queue for tickets. Speedway back in London even if it is only one meeting would be brilliant and Wembley is accessible by public transport. We had West Ham, Hackney, Wimbledon, Wembley, White City etc and now we have nothing. It makes my blood boil not everyone wants to go to shopping centres or cinemas etc. People moan about the noise of bikes so planners get an easy run to get stadiums get shut down then they build houses next to motorways, I suppose motorways aren't noisy. Back to the point in question "bring speedway back to Wembley" i'll be there.

  10. But Scunny are dropping an Aussie & a Brit for 2 Brits, so in this instance giving a bigger reduction (which I'm all for) probably wouldn't have helped. Making a foreigners lowest ave 4.5 or 5.00 rather than the current 4.00 could help the Brits too?

  13. It all smacks of being the usual "Mickey Mouse" plaything for a few Promoters, rather than a bona fide Professional Sport... As, let's be honest, if the Promoters themselves regarded their Championships as relevant they would never agree to run meetings on the few Mondays that the FIM run some of their meetings, and would definitely never in a million years agree to running on the same night that Poland now have priority for, handed to them gift wrapped by the UK in exchange for Poland graciously allowing Dan, Emil and a few lesser lights to be available.. (But obviously, maybe not always available).... What's that definition of insanity? Doing exactly the same thing over and over again but each time you do it you truly expect a different result? Can't be too many years left of "doing exactly the same thing and expecting a different result", given the multitude of track closures over the past decade or so, I would predict... Will someone/enough promoters ever be brave enough to go it alone and radically restructure the sport in the UK? Being in charge of their own destiny, cutting their cloth accordingly, running on the best nights for their business, and offering a VFM night out based on an admission cost that reflects what's on offer, not what they need to pay their employees to be pro riders.. The IOW seem to follow the last paragraph well...

  14. Sadly people were joking about it’s likely to be a tactical call off just before it was announced. Sensible speedway fans can smell the bs from miles away. Its not like anyone is even surprised!

  16. Max Fricke finally showing what he's made of with good team riding and some good passing movements, especially heat 15 on Masters. Sedgman really is the ace in the pack so far though, he's on fire at the moment and looks like he'll have a go at anybody. More dirt on the track didn't equal better racing though, I do miss the bumpy track, at least it was exciting. Unusually poor scores from Schlein and Douglas cost Wolves in the end, it was pretty nip and tuck until the latter stages.

  21. Joe has improved this season & would be unlucky if let go, but sadly Speedway is a numbers game, so if they haven't found a 4.00 rider to replace Kennedy & want to use a 5.00 rider then they have to drop points from somewhere. While 9+1 away from home sounds very good, Joe T only beat Proctor & Pearson at Birmingham (plus Nielsen when he was excluded). His 6 points at Plymouth were achieved by just beating Turner & Trigger. As an away number 7, that's him done his job, so we'll done to him, but it doesn't mean you could expect that score from him every week! In normal circumstances there would be no reason to drop Joe, who's doing his job, the issue Scunny have is not being able to find a suitable replacement for Zaine.

  35. 2 points from 3 riders is not good enough- I agree with that statement but… We are more than capable of doing the same to Oxford at our track. We are built pretty much the same, just depends whose lower riders get it right on the night. One question though, why is Jason not getting 7 rides on nights like this? Or at least 6 if we use Tac Sub.

  36. The rising Star system works but for upcoming riders only & in the Championship. The Premiership should not use it but use a minimum average system of PL 4, converted CL 6.

  38. It's really tough to know what to do. I don't think Joe has done anything wrong, he's done his job beating opposition reserves & would be very unlucky to lose his team spot (maybe he can replace either Birmingham reserves). Clegg & a 2.00 rider to me looks weaker than Joe T & 75% of Kennedy's ave. But are they allowed to continue with guests or do they need to sign someone? The next question would be is Clegg & a 2.00 rider stronger than Joe & a 3.00 rider say Jack Smith?

  39. The reserves are not great but there are other riders in the team not performing either. The team as a whole is poor.

  40. Good post and and I agree with all of that 100%. I remember being in awe when I presented Dag Lovaas with a bottle of Champagne during the "Rebels" last meeting at Cowley. You don't forget occasions like that.

  41. I agree with you regarding worrall, I think flappy said it the other day, you put on form worrall and an on form basso, Ben is the better rider who is more capable, he’s in his second season and is basically the 2nd heat leader, too much expected of him. Worrall has been around the block long enough, never gunna be anything more than a reserve/2nd string. Yeah he was great at Leicester but bar that?? Got passed nearly every race at home too Bellevue when leading races

  42. Oxford thoroughly deserved their win , good solid points scoring throughout as opposed to the Bears but not a very entertaining meeting which was very disappointing as the track shouldn’t be prepared to stop the opposition , which was clearly the tactic by only watering the last six feet by the fence despite it being as dusty as a nomads pockets. Track ‘ grading ‘ took an age due to using the same driver/ promoter to use both vehicles then add in an interval , it did drag on after the late start. Still, an impressive home win and a very , very good crowd, Oxford are a certain play off team and Atkins and Jenkins very impressive British youngsters.

  43. Not really sure why you're laughing at the above posts. Did you ever go to the old Wembley when speedway was held there? It was incredible compared to what we now have at Cardiff. My memories of the 1978 World final (Ole, Ole, Ole, oi, oi oi!), standing on a stool so I could see the action, are still very clear to me. Blows Cardiff away. I for one would love it to return to the 'new' Wembley which is far more accessible than Cardiff is for those of us in the south. And what's Peter Oake's got to do with things???

  44. You know my feelings about "2nd halfs", as this was my way into Speedway and this biggest promotional tool the sport has, the let em in free option has been closed off with the abandonment of 2 halfs. £20 for something you may never have seen before is quite an outlay these days, but if you've been to a few 2nd half freebies and thought, I like the look of this you may be more inclined to shell out for the "real thing", I know me and my dad were and a lifelong hobby began. And I'm talking about proper 2nd halfs, not just junior track time practice sessions, 2nd halfs that involve the senior members of the club, maybe for them to try things out etc. It's time for the riders to step up to the plate to save the sport in this country by not disappearing as soon as the 15 heats are over to their next booking for a different club. And it wasn't just a tool to get fans in, it was also a tool to get local companies involved with sponsorship, companies would sponsor the Rider of the Night trophy and bring clients along and have their photo taken with the winner at the end of the night.
