  1. Due to the forecast of heavy rain on Saturday afternoon the Coronation has had to be postponed , it will now be run the next day Sunday the 7th of May at 3pm. This has however thrown up a problem because Prince Charles as he was known then was booked to do an appearance in Poland on that date, however a solution has been found , Chris Harris has offered his services and will now accompany Camilla in the capital . Chris later commented " Its a great honour for me to represent my country but at the end of the day its just another pay day "

  2. Well Pboro certainly been more successful in the top league than Kings Lynn have with 0 titles to there name - personally I think both clubs need a new start under different promotions-Buster owning both clubs has done neither clubs any favours both have suffered at the others expense and even the rivalry has gone out of it now . Both clubs could be so good for each other .

  3. I have said this many many times that all I want to see is a competitive team, no one likes to see their team get buried every week, if promoters are not able or willing to pay to ensure a team is competitive then the simple answer is to run in a league you can afford.

  7. Hilarious nonsense. An object lesson in how a good journalist can get great coverage for the sport providing the word Wembley is attached … especially when a guy who knows absolutely nothing about the sport can be quoted spouting utter claptrap on a podcast.

  8. We haven't been successful for years, but you don't have to be successful you just need to be competitive. That to me is a difference.Don't get me wrong i would love to win things, but my first priority is for us to compete with other teams not just to roll over and have our bellies tickled. I would have thought the cost implications are offset a bit by there being a lot less meetings in a season.

  9. Speedway isn't road racign or motox, we dont have ONE race, we have 23 ! And in every heat the winner gets the most points anyway, 3-2-1-0, just like it should be, so what's wrong with that? With the new point system top riders like Zmarzlik simply don't have to fight for every point during the heats anymore. It shows in the racing, which is not as intensive as used to be when every single point counted.

  10. But Buster says there's a dent in the crown so it may have to be postponed to an even later date.
    4 points
  11. Rammed?, That equates to 10 races in an Hour, lets be honest that's less than 1 race every 5 minutes which is what Speedway should always aim to be, there is nothing worse than standing around on a freezing cold night waiting for races to come round, well done Leicester.

  14. All for it. Alternate between the GP's one year and the next a Wembley one off Final. Stop things getting stale, which for me the GPs have. I'd certainly do Wembley, whereas i couldn't be bothered with Cardiff. Especially now it has gone downhill in a big way. Would hopefully give the sport a boost just when it needs it most

  15. Obvious it has started to rain now and the forecast is for more later but you crack on with your theory.

  16. Surely everybody knows by now that we run the show, one of the perks of sponsoring the league

  17. They can use Bomber every other week.. Bomber's other commitments to everyone else not with standing obviously.. The Polish 2nd tier is full of riders that could be suitable.. With the beauty being you only need to sign them, they turn up once, and then have guests for the rest of the season due to all the Polish fixture clashes that UK Speedway have allowed to take place..

  18. Would not blame any track these days for call off if a dodgy weather forecast.Berwick match is Good example.Very little rain during day light drizzle 1/2 hour before match started,no rain forecast from 17.00on weather charts, persistent rain at heat 4 abandoned after Ht6.Very localised in Glasgow areas, as on the way home had not been raining at Newhouse 8 miles down the road. Good decision these days given the cost involved for travelling fans.

  19. Might it have been better to say the pit gate was broken and couldn't be repaired in time???

  20. It wouldn't be a new approach (maybe it would but only in Birmingham's case) as Berwick tried it for a few weeks when John Anderson was promoter. He told me that he would charge £10 a meeting "if he could" but it made very little difference to the amount of people attending and therefore lost a bucket load of ££. It might work for Birmingham as it has a larger catchment area, but the simple fact is, if you are not a speedway fan you probably won't be interested, even at a tenner and even more so if the team is a poor one.

  21. BBC has rain all day, met office sporadic showers and my phone app has rain most of day too. Na just thought I'd make it up
    3 points
  22. All forecasts I've checked say rain at 7. Would you rather travel from Oxford to have it called off at 7.15? Then you'd be on lambasting no early call off decision. Think Plymouth 2021 at Glasgow. Lawson and Starke didn't make us any weaker imo so you're second point I disagree with

  23. My thoughts are The issue has nothing to do with getting rider's, it's cash. Nobody is interested in riding for the Scrimping Stars or the Peanut Panthers. Not sure Sheffield, Ipswich or Belle Vue will suffer the same problems if injuries or poor performances arise. There has to be 4 - 5 points Danes, Swedes or Germans out there to take a punt on needing rides. The other issue is, clearly Allitt's phone only has about 14 rider's numbers in it, plus Holder & Batchelor's deleted.

  24. Postpone. If you cancel, it isn't restaged. It's a big deal because nobody trusts the promoters, and there are dodgy circumstances. KL hadn't even confirmed their line-up - which is a requirement of the SCB Regs. If you continue to accept this squit, they will continue to keep doing it.

  25. Dont agree there… Kemp is what he is and no more.. Clegg more reliable

  26. I hope Joe gets a team spot somewhere else. As things stand, that'll be both brothers riding in divisions 1 & 3 but not 2. I know I've said it before, but the maths ain't working somewhere in that equation.

  27. Or completely disrupted team harmony knowing Kemp has attitude issues

  32. Seems like a tad premature pulling the shutters down already with it being clear the last few hours. Having gaps between home meetings is not really “fan friendly” & already looking like the annual back log of fixtures running into late October yet again.

  33. Yep. If Jenkins was a Redcar asset you are still meant to ask for permission. Exactly. Watching the Redcar Bears talk on Facebook or sometimes YT. I think in the Gavin Parr interview he said they offered Jordan a new deal but Oxford offered him more. If Oxford asked for permission to talk to him then no problem with it. If you are still talking about Danny King, pretty sure that was all above board. If it wasn't Matt and Dan Ford would kick off about it as sure they reported another team for doing it in the past. - this would be 'elite league' days though!

  35. Sentiment doesn’t come into it, every rider is someone’s son or grandson. Not quite sure what your point is with that statement. Your are not likely to replace a reserve with world beaters either so not sure where you are going with that comment. If Joe agreed to ride for £20 a point then I suggest he learns better negotiating skills. That said if true you really shouldn’t be announcing other people business on here (unless you are Joe ). Just to clarify I wasn’t moaning merely pointing out that droning on about how hard done someone may feel, won’t actually change anything. Also I’m not annoyed about anything not sure why you think I am ? Clearly you are though. Have a lovely coronation weekend and crack open the Pimms and chill.

  36. Change the manager too. Birmingham could/should be looking at a longer term approach and if they can tempt riders who will commit to a few seasons and become fans favourites they will be rewarded. Brum have incredibly loyal fans and the golden boys can walk on water. The twins, Bowtell and Hume (for next season) with some experienced heads to help them develop on would be a fair starting point. Then bring in Will Pottinger to be both tactically aware, look after the team and deliver honesty in feedback to the fans.....

  37. It’s only a non answer if you want it to be. I fully understand your frustrations but the weather is what it is, we have had rain earlier and last night and more forecast, as I say Damned if you do Damned if you don’t. Its really a moot argument anyway as the call has been made regardless.

  38. If that's the case they should just call off every meeting in the morning - you know, just in case.
    2 points
  39. The complete opposite. The travelling fans had already booked time off work, hotels, etc. To call a meeting off because of the possibility of a pitiful amount of rain reveals disrespect and contempt for the travelling fans. The Glasgow management should just come clean and reveal why tonight was called off, because if they can't stage a meeting tonight due to the amount of rain forecast, then how can anybody ever trust them to put on a meeting again?
    2 points
  40. Spot on. Lynn and Boro fans are fed up with propping the Premiership up, tine to get out and be competitive.

  41. Still says awaiting decision on the council planning portal. National Highways have put in a temporary objection though, wanting more detailed traffic studies and information before mid June.

  42. Sorry, but I was travelling from Oxford, but would rather take the risk. It can always happen. What's far more of a pain is rescheduling all the plans. Would have to think about ever travelling again to Glasgow after this - it's obvious why the meeting has been called off.

  43. it’s a bit like a few weeks ago v Berwick when showed light showers durning the day and no rain forecast later on started the meeting no rain ht 4 poured down then meeting called off when the rain never stopped damed if you do damed if you don’t
