To be fair... They do put Bomber's name in EVERY programme printed for EVERY meeting in both leagues.. Just in case...13 points

Absolutely nothing the SCB can do about a riders absence if a medical certificate has been issued.6 points

CVS is a mind reader having 'Chris Harris' already programmed @ #1 before even King's Lynn 'allegedly' knew about it. I wonder when Harris accepted the booking?6 points

Maersk, the container logistics company, have several ships running on methanol, as methanol is classed as a green fuel. Speedway should be shouting the fact from the rooftops, in this world of concern for global warming etc. Many non-speedway supporters would be happy to accuse speedway as being a contributor to global warming, when it isn't! The stakeholders of speedway, need to let the world know!5 points

You just can't beat Immodium, perhaps the BSPL and SCB should do a bulk buy, with all the bull**** flying around.5 points

Must have been those Fish & Chips he was raving about, good job mystic Buster had Bomber on stand-by in case Artem followed through ... Wait until Tarasenko's Full English filters through his system, it could be season ending carnage5 points

What an absolute disgrace Kings Lynn and Buster Chapman are. Laguta listed as injured on the weekend and a guest swiftly sorted out then he goes and rides on Sunday in Poland? Pathetic. The sport is in a dire mess and Chapman being allowed to behave how he is, fielding under strength teams week in week out at both of his clubs, is disgusting. The quicker he f***s off out the sport, the better. I think it is time that the sport had a major shake up and reformatting. Its in a dire , dire state with complete w**kers in power. Phil Morris never took any nonsense in his riding days so hopefully he has a similar attitude towards British Speedway.5 points

Is it though? is it not a little bit to late? when the sport in this country needed him he turned his back on us for the big money (fair enough I guess) I think its very doubtful (though i would love to be wrong!) that there will be a premiership next year the way its going4 points

Absolutely correct. As was the issuing of a seven day ban which is the long standing rule where a medical certificate has been presented for a none speedway related injury/illness. Whilst folk on this forum have ridiculed the situation, the same people appear not to have made any workable proposals of a better way the matter could or should have been dealt with.4 points

You can just see them sitting around this morning discussing what the next lie would be. "Go with Food Poisoning. We can make that work. Give the Russian with a Polish Passport a seven day ban as well, that wont affect Lynn as they have no meetings and shows the punters that we are doing something". I said last week he wouldn't be at Wolves after his crash at Lynn. You can predict British Speedway so easily. Why anyone still bothers spending their money going to watch it in the UK is beyond me. Evidently at Peterborough last night very few people did give them any money. I watched it with my wife last night on the TV, she's relatively new to the sport. Admittedly I have introduced her to Polish Speedway and the GP's first, but she said how depressing it was in the UK in comparison. She watched it last night because she likes Bewley, I prefer to watch the "Low Lights" package afterwards. Her words last night when I try and explain British Speedway were "they just make it up here as they go along". And this SCB statement just about sums that up. As I tell my staff at work, never try and pull the wool over the customers eyes, always be honest with them, they'll see right through it. British Speedway has been doing that for years now, they take us for mugs. Its on the scrapheap and needs re-building.....4 points

If this is being held and promoted as a Championship worth winning why wouldn't you want to put out your strongest possible side to attempt to win it? Or is it just a fixture filler? It's already been devalued and gone from 6 meetings, to 5, to 3... to 1 on a Thursday night... with crowd pulling riders not competing for their clubs. If you weren't there BSNing would you have been making the trip?4 points

As a first time visitor to the new Workington I struggled to find anything to be negative about. The layout is GREAT , elevated viewing for all spectators, a couple of seated stands , plenty of space and more than acceptable facilities for a brand new track although my wife would suggest the toilets need to be the next area for improvement. As I was ‘ involved ‘ in the after match racing I can say that the pits are enormous, plenty of room not just for the main teams but second halfers / juniors too. The staff were all keen, enthusiastic and very welcoming , from the security man at the main gate right through to the BBQ staff afterwards , although they were very overworked ! Good atmosphere and good crowd helped by sensible pricing , brilliant weather, yes, a little dusty but it’s SPEEDWAY after all. I highly recommend a visit and I will be going again. Massive congratulations to Mr. Bain, Lawson and ALL the volunteers who made this happen.4 points

How would seven heat leaders be paid because they couldn't all score points? so they would all need to be paid a fixed amount. Who could afford that?3 points

If I was a promoter/ owner of a club not caught up in this latest farce, I would be deeply concerned about my clubs future, the credibility of the sport and what the options are going forward. No way would the current set up allow a club to drop down a league so it would almost be a choice between closure or Nora. It beggars belief that those in charge trot out the same garbage and still think that they are professional business people yet they regularly fail to understand the market they operate in,the interest of the paying public but believe that the right thing to placate one and all is to trot out the same deceit which a few conspire to promote week in week out. Not one of those in charge has the balls to come on this or any other forum to defend the decisions or worse still accept reasonable criticism and debate the issues. If as seems likely some clubs are doomed, then protesting when the TV cameras are in town will do no harm as it has reached the point where the punters have nothing to lose apart from the entrance fee. It would be surprising if the likes of Belle Vue and Ipswich are part of this shambolic situation but I guess it depends whether they are under threat or worse if they do not follow the party line. How on earth did we get from regular weekly meetings in a semi competitive league to the as and when meeting arrangements you have today. Rather than give clubs the freedom to promote the sport, all those in charge who are empire builders want to do is, restrict, impede and frustrate the hell out of the decent clubs and the punters.3 points

If the SCB information is correct and was known at lunchtime yesterday, why was the official reason not given out until today. According to the press release the “true facts” were known. Who picked up the cost of his cancelled flight ? The real issue here is if he misses one more meeting this year whilst riding elsewhere the SCB, BSPL and Captain transparent Phil are goosed. The independent ruler that every one wanted in speedway cannot exist in current form. if emperor Phil with no financial input makes the right call on clubs mis behaving, it will lead to club closing down, or in west Scotland throwing toys out of their pram, which could mean closing down or selling. So his hands are tied. Buster and Godfrey have been the worse possible leaders of the sport and everyone is now suffering. Put the fans first with every decision would be a good start, but I believe it’s too late now.3 points

When we have had new blood come into the ranks of the promoters with new ideas to take the sport forward they soon realise they are banging their heads against a brick wall. Coincidence that the Isle of Wight opted out and are putting on events that the public are praising and embracing?3 points
-
Well for what its worth I feel Peterborough gaveit a good go tried to win and were just beaten by a stronger side, some decent races - critical 5-1's again the Panthers in heats 1 & 8 and that is pretty much where they lost it. Tarasenko does look good on the big tracks as well! Belle Vue have won 5 away matches this season so no disgrace in this! The Kings Lynn result is another matter however!3 points

The sport is just in the gutter over here . Ego maniacs in charge doing what they please , zero respect for the paying public. A complete clear out required .3 points

I've got the answer to speedways problems and affordability for everyone. Walking Football, Walking Rugby, Walking Cricket, so why not Walking Speedway? Machines could be taken to the starting gate by volunteer staff. Riders could then walk out side by side to their respective starting positions. Tapes up, and off they walk for 4-laps pushing their bikes. No mechanics needed, thus saving money. No new engines need, thus saving money. No riders falling, so no need for paramedics, thus saving money. No track work needed doing, thus saving money. No tractor racing needed, so fuel not needed, thus saving money. No new shale or clay needed, thus saving money. No air fence needed, thus saving money. No incident recorder needed, thus saving money. No referee needed, the flag marshal could declare the result, thus saving money. No need to print a new rule book, thus saving money. Promoters could then reduce the admission price by £1 per person, thus saving money for the fans. Promoters could then put the prices up in the bar by £1, thus saving them money they lost on the reduced admission price. So easy when you think about it, with walking sport becoming more and more popular.2 points

I give up, I really do, When our great sport eventually comes to an end the blame will lie fully with the higher ups who make our sport comes across like a circus act. Check this pathetic excuse out. SCB STATEMENT: ARTEM LAGUTA - Tuesday, June 27, 2023 (britishspeedway.co.uk)2 points
-
Following on from the Laguta situation does this now mean that every rider that is taken ill at home or has an accident of some sort of accident away from the speedway track is going to be suspended for 7 days from now on for having the audacity of getting a non speedway illness or injury? I don't know if Laguta is ill or not but what I find interesting is that the SCB can now obviously over rule the medical profession and effectively say they are lying when suppling a medical certificate that meets the speedway rules and regulations. The old saying of "you couldn't make it up if you tried" has never been more true for these jokers running this sport.2 points

Phil Morris comes in and makes a groundbreaking move of putting the line up mat in the pits...well done that man!..ignore all the other tinpot crap that continues to make a mockery of British Speedway...it really is in the worst state it's ever been in...I'm sick of it all and can't be arsed to go anymore as it's run by a bunch of clowns if my club Peterborough is anything to go by... the Premiership really is an embarrassingly crap product.2 points

They would not know the truth if it slapped them in the face. They are a deceitful bunch who think it is OK to mislead all and sundry. Why don’t they just stop wasting everyone’s time by closing down the tracks that have no chance of surviving and let those left plough there own furrow. Some clubs are run/managed by decent folk but far too many are run by renegades who have no morals and literally take the p.. out of every punter who passes through the turnstiles. The sooner the punter makes a stand the sooner the mess will be sorted. As long as you keep turning up those in charge will do nothing but take your cash. Time to make a stand.2 points

Embarrassingly inept, or deliberately in contempt of their fanbase? Make a mistake, but FFS, stop making it time and time and time again.. Because that can only mean two things... A lack of integrity.. Or a lack of competence.. Either way, neither are a good look if you are a custodian of any entity.. Phil will sort it....2 points

Sitting in seat number one we have guest dog buster who is making his debut tonight. replacing Mr Smith who unfortunately had been double booked to drink coffee at the local Costa drive though. we are also operating crowd replacement in the back straight stand. Exactly. And on the next British Speedway Podcast we will no doubt be told that as fans "we just don't understand what it takes to run a speedway club or what goes on behind the scenes or the hard work that goes into it". How about being honest with us and then we might understand.2 points

Think you'll find that the Aussie Govt are like the UK's WEFpuppet Govt & many others (Canada, New Zealand, & of course those in the EU) - all in lockstep with each other.. An 80yr old bloke (son of a Nazi) has written a book about what they want to do, it's called The Great Reset (aka New World Order) give it a read.2 points

I'm past caring about the politics of it all tbh. Gone are the days of treating UK speedway seriously, sometimes I go, sometimes I don't...2 points

And that's it... Unfortunately though, we still attend in spite of the way it is ran, not because of the way it is ran... Which is a fraught place to be for your business if your customers view what you offer up in that way..2 points

Wonder if all speedway promotions are issued with a booklet at the start of a season that has the top 100 excuses permitted to deceive the paying public ,2 points

Another buffoon at Lynn trying to take the p**s out of the paying public. Barring a guest and a second in heat 2, their riders didn't beat one opponent between them. Instead of coming out with such garbage, tell it how it is. Tell the fans that the performance was absolutely pathetic and there are no excuses.2 points

Just like the present average system. Anything can be manipulated if you want to, it's just about minimising the manipulation. If your going to go off averages it has to be an actual average based on all the meetings the rider takes part in. Not cut 53% of them.2 points

I think you are correct- why else would you take a great sport in the 70-80and 90s and basically run it into the ground and year on year weaken the product to cut costs rather than trying to sort out why crowds have dwindled and actually promoting the sport -the saying it’s not over till the fat lady sings well she’s warming up ready to start singing .2 points

Having just come on here as I am on holiday.Think there is an overreaction to Laguta missing. We all know this has been going on for years, since I have been going to speedway anyway. Not so long ago Kurtz missed Belle Vues meeting at Lynn with a supposed reaction to an injury, only to ride in Poland the next evening. Its not good I know but I just can't believe some of those complaining here haven't complained on all fraudulent absences this season.2 points
