We got a medal. To finish second to Poland in Poland is no disgrace. Turns out all that criticism was, and still is, wrong.10 points

So Richard Lawson the man Steve shovlar said would bring the World Cup home has just been beaten at Leicester by Dan Thompson lol6 points

I don't think experienced riders racing in the league stops the development of riders at all. The most promising, Boughen / James / Harrison / Killeen will always get team spots. But who is next to step up if older/experienced riders were banned? Now nothing against the following riders who could one day make it but currently the likes of William Richardson, Jacob Fellows, Mark Parker & Kai Ward have shown it's quite a step up even from the junior leagues to the NDL. Would the riders below these guys really be ready for the NL? Plus how much would Boughen, Harrison, Scott, Perry, James etc improve without being able to test themselves against Morley, Complin, Bowtell, Clegg et al. Take Luke Harrison for example if he's managed to be competitive against Dan T, Jenkins, Bailey and the riders I mentioned above - then it's time to test himself in the Championship, like he's doing for Redcar. If he only raced against fellow new starts, how would he know if he's ready to step up?6 points

Oh I don't know,,, my young female neighbour on all fours in a mini skirt picking out the weeds is pretty much the opposite from a turn off.3 points

Absolutely hate the use of a tactical for the home side. It’s difficult enough as it is to win away from home, tacticals should be either the away side only, or none at all.3 points

Yeah but we would've won the world Team Cup if he'd been in the team, apparently.....3 points

The Poles were massive favourites and the Brits took them to the last race. I'd suggest that's overperforming...3 points

Tai was similar to how he is in the GPs these days where he looks great in some heats and poor in others Often he looks like a potential winner only to fail to even make the semis. The management decisions were fine, but we neede the top 3 to get big points. Even without that we came close enough to nearly give me a heart attack. One thing I might have done differently would have been to put Bewley in the last race based on his Grand Prix final record of 3 finals and 3 wins. Probably would have made no difference though. Poland were so determined at the end.3 points

They have a lion that pretends to wave royally. I always want to have it shot by a trophy hunter. I feel this way about a lot of mascots, to be fair.3 points

If you could see into the future you would have hoped your team got an easier draw than the European super powers from Andorra.3 points

Its insanity to suggest they should step down! Brennan at what 22 is the future of these events why would you not get him ready - I like Charles Wright he’s been a good pro over the years not convinced he’d have done any better! no doubt had they gone with Wright and we hadn’t won then someone would have piped up with if you should have taken Brennan!!3 points

Ryan Douglas should really of been a Panther seasons ago ,so if they make 2024 and unfortunately Wolves dont hes got to be a target2 points

And? The World Cup was in Poland, means zero who he beats or doesn't beat at Leicester!2 points

As a neutral I can confirm there was some brilliant racing, but that was undermined by the sense of the inevitable. When Douglas (5th in Wolves averages) gated last in ht 13 it was really no surprise when he sped past both the home teams 'big guns'. Or heat 10 when Becker gated like a tank, gave everyone a 30 metre head start and still passed both Panthers before lap 3 was over.2 points

Morris really has let the Lions down badly. Batchelor is nothing like a replacement for him.2 points

Speedway fans are some of the most patient. Wherever you have a delay, generally they are very tolerant and hold on in hope. Not many sports would put up with the way the punters are treated at speedway meetings.2 points

I would in his position. Why go for a 5-rode max if you can get the same for 5 paid wins and keep a point off your average? It's the logical thing to do. If people want to avoid it, they could make bonus points count towards averages.2 points

I have no interest in times beyond one decimal point, but if transponders can be used to decide dead heats / jumping the start then they have their use imo2 points

There is no reason we lost other than Poland has a very good team and all the advantages of riding at home. We essentially had a 3 man team that put on a bloody good performance. After doing absolutely nothing for years we've gone 2018 silver (rule change 1 year later means we would have won) Gold in 2021, Silver 2022 and Silver 2023. You cant say they are getting in dramatically wrong....2 points

Very small margins and GB could easily have won - congratulations to them, they did me proud. I don't believe they lack any mental strength at all, unfortunately the way some races pan out it can be another who presents an obstacle e.g. Fricke in Ht 20 held up Lambert which allowed Janowski to pass. Janowski himself had to ride the outside as he had nothing to lose - sometimes being the chaser is easier than being the chased and Lambert was no doubt settling for second (bar any mistakes from Fricke) after a couple of laps. Any suggestions Poland are miles ahead was clearly de-bunked.2 points

Richard did slow down on the last bend and straight to allow Anders to win Heat 11 when the pair of them were up against Connor Coles. Its great to see him help his team mate2 points

Without a doubt he was effortless on a bike held the team together on his own. His team riding especially with Bobby K was a joy to watch.2 points

Bit off topic but it was good to see Shane Parker mingling with the fans last night. Some great memories of Shane on his 6 years as a Tiger.2 points

No,but who would wish that upon any rider. He does have superb bike control though and he is brave and fearless as results show.Easily the best rider in the World at the moment. IMO2 points

Nice to see Laguta enjoying his Beach holiday. Bit of rest in the sun will help heal that sore wrist he’s got.2 points

It was the correct decision. They’re building a team spirit and riders such as Brennan and Ellis have time to improve still. Any criticism of our team or the management after missing out on the World Cup in the final race is a little silly if you ask me.2 points
-
Lets be honest after Bewley and Lanbert and to a lesser extent Woffinden, there`s not much between any of the remaining riders.2 points
-
Definitely not time for change. Ellis and Brennan were picked because they ride regularly in Poland, others don't. Pretty straightforward really. Our record in the SWC/SoN has been excellent since 2018.2 points

Steve Worrall 6.00 ...Adam Ellis 9.00 (above Masters and Douglas) Those are the real averages, where it matters ... in Poland. I had assumed the OP was satire, but I fear not.2 points

Just when you are about give up on speedway, along comes a meeting like this. Fantastic stuff from 4 evenly matched teams all giving it their very best. All four teams were winners and a triumph for the sport of speedway.2 points

Whilst it seems both logical and inevitable that Hans would be released , It should never be forgotten just what Hans did for Peterborough Speedway over all the seasons he rode in the Panthers colours becoming a true legend of the club It would be fitting if he was granted a farewell meeting at the showground for him and the fans to say a proper goodbye to a great servant to the club .2 points

Just want to confirm, do we have to wait until Steve Shovelar or Lisa Colette posts the thread for the Redcar v Glasgow meeting this Friday, since Danny King, Ben Basso and Danyon Hume are racing, which means it's practically a Poole meeting anyways?1 point

I get what you are saying a lot of riders get injured during their career s some bonce back some don t come back as good it can knock your confidence.Don’t know if Zmarzliks had any big injuries1 point

Perhaps they have taken on the English attitude and started to treat fans with contempt. Beware because this can lead to the state that U.K. speedway finds itself in, on its knees, poor levels of support and even the English and Welsh netball teams gets more publicity. Speedway in the U.K. is treated by the media as a joke and even local sports reporters who once went all out to publicise local teams cannot be bothered. Do not let it happen in Poland.1 point

Just goes to show how much speedway has slipped off the radar the fact that the BBC can justify televising the Woman's Netball World Cup!1 point

Some very light rain where I live, but forecast for the rest of the day is perfect.1 point

The forecast isn't great but it's set to clear by around 4pm, time is running out on the season and the TV cameras will be there. I've given up trying to second guess what Speedway promotions will do theses days, so who knows? If only they had something that could cover the track when the weather at start time is due to be okay1 point
