I don't see what Ford's problem is here? Surely giving fans a chance to say thank you to a guy who led you to every trophy available until end of this season it should be made public? Was obvious one of Richard or Stevie were going and the anointed one has had a better year. Won't it potentially add more fans to the gate too in what is otherwise an end of season challenge match? Sure Steve no had a vintage season, but that happens to everyone who has a testimonial year in my experience.3 points

Well done to Scunthorpe the better team won over the two legs. What I do not get is the the responses from both sets of fans and the aggression. Poole always put out a competitive team and when they are doing well they like any team they put bums on seats when they travel away. The current state of the sport needs clubs like Poole and every other team to come to tapes in 2024 but if for any reason Poole lost out because of circumstances beyond their control such as the closure of the stadium, the sport overall would be poorer for it. Swindon have gone and now Wolves and Panthers are lost, Kent and Mildenhall may be kicked into touch, surely it is time to appreciate what teams are left because without those speedway in the U.K. is dead. Continually knocking clubs is counter productive and whilst a lot of what goes on is good natured banter, you cannot help but feel some of the vitriolic comments are counter productive. The Scorpions did what they needed to do and Poole came up short. So what. Just look forward to next season.2 points

I think it was £16 in 2018 last time we were at this level. £20 will be reasonable imo, although I can only imagine what some people will say when it’s announced it’s £20. But even non-league National League football is £20 to get in these days. Unfortunately some casual fans won’t realise the actual costs to put a meeting on.2 points

I come on here to follow the speedway news and hear first hand comments about what is happening in meetings. Unfortunately, I have to encounter the garbage that comes off your fingers. If you had wit or intelligence it wouldn't be so bad, but you are sadly lacking in both. Why you are allowed to remain on this forum is beyond me when you obviously have no knowledge of speedway and just come on here to wind people up. If you ever met any of the people you insult on here I guess you'd just wet yourself.2 points

I’m going for the below Glasgow Bingo lottery on team building 2024 depending what the prize is will alter accordingly. 1. Chris Harris 2. Tate Zischke 3.Connor Bailey 4.Danyon Hume 5.Josh Pickering 6. Lee Complin 7. Ace Piper This team comes to 38.42 but seeing as we got Vadim on a 5 I am sure we can wangle a little bit extra if the rumoured 38 is true..2 points

Might want to watch heat 14 again scunny were on a 5-1. Lawson was unlucky in heat 10 though. I thought heat 2 could have easly been rerun, red lights came on with 2 laps to go, Kemp could have got Thompson.2 points

Riders who excelled at long track have been mentioned in previous posts and one of these was Finnish rider, Timo Laine. As far as I can see, he never rode for a British speedway team but I seem to remember him riding at New Cross in a Speedway Internationale qualifying round in the early 60's - Norbold can probably confirm that. Laine won the gold medal at the European Longtrack Championship in the 1961 Individual Long Track European Championship. In addition, he won the Nordic Longtrack Championship three times (1964, 1965, 1966) and the Finish Longtrack Championship seven times (1962, 1963, 1964, 1965, 1967, 1968, 1972).1 point

When the Cubs eventually get the fixtures completed, they will most likely be celebrating (fingers crossed) by spraying each other with mulled wine rather than champagne!1 point

It's left us a little bit stunned and it's not ideal. Doesn't sound like he wanted it Now finish work and had time to read more than first line very valid points. I don't understand the "stronger sides" argument. Everyone builds to the same average. In theory the teams should all at least be competitive. Reducing the limit won't even the playing field. The "better" clubs will still attract the more attractively averaged riders and still be ones to beat1 point

I saw a lot of People stay behind last night and congratulate the Scorpions on their win.1 point

Why not let Steve say his goodbyes with a meeting left as he’s done a good job for Poole over all. Fair play to him for ignoring Ford’s decision.1 point

Walking down by Poole Harbour and just been stopped by a bus driver... He has been booked to drive an open air double decker bus around the town at mid day to "celebrate a cup win or something" he tells me, but no one yet has arrived... He wants to know if anyone is turning up, or can he go home..?1 point

I watched a few meetings that were streamed at Plymouth and actually enjoyed the racing. I do hope they're at the tapes in 2024, plus the away supporters probably the loudest we've had at Ashfield this season.1 point

And if rumours are correct most of the No 1's in teams now won't be in the league in 2024 (josh pickering ryan Douglas, sam masters etc ) so top money for a diluted product !!! Just hope fans will support a higher level speedway with weakened teams1 point

A bit if deserved silverware for Scunthorpe after a fine season,,hell of a performance from Lambert and not to mention Mountains effort, vital point from him Fair play to Poole on yet another final, they are the team to beat constantly and deserve credit for that, Lastly ,a good effort from the track guys down there to get the meeting on and a raceable surface1 point

Well done to Scunthorpe with Simon Lambert doing a real captain's job. Yes some things didn't go our way but overall we simply weren't good enough again when it mattered most. And to those that may be thinking 'flat white' well I'm drinking one right now but not to drown my sorrows but to say eres to next season, bring it on! C'MON THE BOYZZZZZ1 point

What about Jack Thomas who would be on a similar average to Kyle,In my opinion Kyle won’t improve much on 5.50 in the main team even in a weaker league,Jack Thomas would improve I think but the other top4 spots I’m guessing are pretty much nailed on1 point

All the Poole fans all cocky saying the tie was over and they choked huge huge choke Poole specialist Douglas doesn’t win a heat and yet Poole still couldn’t win ….. Steve Worrall really has gone missing in both finals So so sweet1 point

Yes. Even if there had been a rider who could've come in mid season for Lee and done better - which there wasn't - it would've been a terrible move because he was so good at getting the crowd and the kids hyped up. Not enough riders work the crowd, but he's brilliant.1 point

I never quite got the objection and eventual banning of ghost teams. If you start with the objective of organizing a racing environment whereby young riders can get competitive track time on a regular basis and enough people are willing to pay to watch them, what's the problem?1 point

I think the 1960's to early 80's British speedway set up of 13 heats with a 2nd half including novice races was a great set up cause many riders cut their teeth this way. I know that most of the crowd would leave but personally I found many ordinary matches were made more interesting by seeing local novices trying to make their way in the sport after the main event. With regards to the NDL, British speedways 3rd Division, it has to be retained because since its inception in 1994 it has been one of the best things to happen to the sport. Countless numbers of riders have learned their trade at this level in a proper League set up something they would have been ready for at a higher level. Also like in the case of Workingtons reopening this season this lower cost League has enabled new venues. reopened venues and current tracks struggling to make it pay in the higher professional Leagues pay a platform to operate in. - Would Workington Northside have gone straight into the Championship without the safety net of the NDL to run in before? Birmingham and Eastbourne in recent years needed to drop into the 3rd tier in order to keep running. The likes of Mildenhall, Stoke, Somerset, St Austell, Kent, Linlithgow, Rye House, Buxton, Carmarthen, Scunthorpe, Plymouth, Wimbledon, Arena Essex, Skegness, Weymouth and Berwick only opened or reopened because of the existence of the lower cost 3rd Division. Many of these tracks went onto move into the higher Leagues keeping team levels up to a sustainable level. Looking at all the above facts disbanding the 3rd Division, the NDL in its current guise would be a negative move cause the gentler introduction into the sport for new tracks and new riders would not be there which would seriously hinder future existence of the sport in the UK.1 point

If brother Steve is leaving Poole would that be too high an average for a top 2 under this new limit? Only leaves about 21 points for your remaining 5 spots1 point

Josh would ride on his Polish Licence so would probably come in as a second string on an assessed 5.00!!1 point

Many thanks to all fans who travelled to the meeting yesterday in spite of all the changes. Thanks to the riders who did attend and still managed to provide some entertaining races. Well done to Connor Bailey on the win, it's been a pleasure watching you fly round Northside and at times Redcar this season. In the likelyhood there will not be a third tier next season i'm excited at the prospect of rejoining the Championship. The increasing costs are a slight concern bearing in mind what happened to Laura. I hope Andrew/Steve are able to get the required level of support from team sponsors et al to help with the increased financial burden. Andrew spoke about infrastructure work planned for over the winter more specifically toilets and a stand. The energy and dedication of the whole team is admirable. British Speedway cannot afford to lose anymore clubs, i sincerely hope we see the return of Peterborough an excellent race track which always provided great Fours meetings and Wolverhampton. Hope we see you guys back asap !.1 point
