  1. There should be ZERO tolerance in these type incidents. We’re not talking carpet bowls here we’re talking a sport where riders suffer life changing accidents and sometimes death. You get caught with those substances in your system, go find another job!!

  2. Shocking outcome and punishment. should of got 2 year ban as of when he was found guilty.

  3. I find it really strange that the identical "substances" were found in 2 individuals samples. I also think the bans should be reworded to be "seasons" rather than years so that there is no benefit gained by being banned outside of the racing window.

  4. Doesn't deserve his racing license back.

  5. He needs to sign for a club with a tight track so can hug the white line

  6. First time? First time he got caught do you mean, speedway is dangerous if you do drugs don't get on a speedway bike and put others at risk of serious injury.

  7. Is the mitigation consideration that he got caught.Seems rather light sentence.IMO.Especially suspending 9 months of it.

  8. The British leagues should be having British youngsters at 6+7 also British U24 in the team, instead of all the foreign riders imo

  9. Butterfield doesn’t realise it yet, the key to his development plans is held by the Speedway club. He will have to speak to the consortium at some point.

  10. He'll have to get another job then... just like a delivery driver would if they lost their licence

  11. Thing is ,certain Promotions will still want to employ him, does nothing for the image of the sport.

  12. so Morris gets 2xyear ban no test taken? worrall 9mth basically? being guilty of cocaine?? Doesn't add up to me ?

  13. How can you defend him. They are meant to be Professional sportsmen ,they know the rules. It is noticeably in every case of drugs in every sport they plead innocent, but very rarely that is the case when results are known.Excuses don’t wash.

  14. Makes himself look a bit of a t1t considering all the rubbish he came out with having nothing in his system and got his own tests done what an idiot.

  15. Sure think they can , Poole signed the never seen Czech rider (ondrej smatana) (Mr no show ) in 22 and used a facility for a month . As the proposal was from a director and approved by the board I am sure it could be used again for the majority of clubs , or doesn’t it work that way ??

  16. Shame that you would have got him in on a 5. I am sure we would’ve helped on an advisory basis too make this happen.

  17. Awful news about the vandalism horrible gits whoever it was but I’ve just read the punishments that worrall and boxall got for having cocaine in there systems for me boxall should never be allowed on a speedway bike again and a 4 year ban will probably mean he won’t I no worrall was a Plymouth rider and reading the mitigation put forward I still think his ban should have been 2 years end off these lads/ men put themselves in dangerous positions for our entertainment and someone to put others in danger in an already let’s be honest a slightly dangerous sport is truly shocking it will be interesting who picks him up to ride for them when his short ban is over someone will, for me there is no justification for what he’s done and I do not think the punishment fits the crime.

  18. Cocaine is only detectable from 2-5 days after use so it's easy to get a second, clean test a couple of days later. Drug Test Detection Times And Cut Off Levels – UKDrugTesting

  19. fyi I have no sympathy for any person taking illegal drugs. If you walk the walk, take the fall. But to put it into context, Rock stars perform on stage to thousands of admiring fans, then get on a coach back to their hotel. Speedway riders have not just their own lives at risk, but also their competitors. Massive difference. But I don't condone either.

  20. It’s the watering down of the Sport that most are complaining about.Riders are being force out because of it.In other sports it’s a levelling up process.

  21. We have quite a few medics at the track (two ambulances and a rapid response car) so there would have been cover. However I’m unsure (even if the rain hadn’t started to fall whilst Max was being treated) whether the riders would have wanted to continue considering the horrific injuries Max was first feared to have had, had this been the case I am sure none of the fans would have objected we could see it was serious, and most of these are young guys that may not have been in this situation before. Sadly everybody is fixated on the track and conditions, Max’s accident had nothing to do with the track, from the start there were elbows out but at the entrance to 1st bend his bike took off (it looked like his throttle stuck open) and went straight into the fence and he couldn’t get away from the bike, it was a freak accident that nobody could have predicted or stopped from happening.

  22. Many seem to forget that BSPL(not BSPA) as it now is, is made up of all the club owners/promoters as Directors of the Limited Company. (Assume this includes the NDL clubs although not sure?).Each has voting rights on most decisions, especially when significant changes are proposed, with the majority winning the day. The Management Board (currently Godfrey, Ford, Louis and Bates) is elected by the majority to make decisions on issues as they arise during the season - especially decisions on misleading rules. For me the major issue is to sort out the rule book once and for all, rather than adding new rules which impact and confuse existing ones and for which a duty board member can easily make a mistake in a split second decision on a race day. Team building and points limits (or rider averages) are subject to the majority vote.

  23. So sorry to hear of more vandalism damage at the Coliseum in recent days. Ben Trigger has posted pics etc on Facebook. I know we all banter a bit but no club deserves this.

  26. Don't think they need mass testing, they know exactly who they want to catch, that's why their success rate is so high.

  27. So your proposal is that all riders pay for their own drugs test at all meetings. The reserves and similar lower end earners are going to love that suggestion, especially those that cant afford or do drugs!

  28. The Key to the Report is that it says Wolves are working with City Councillors - which implies its under the jurisdiction of Wolverhampton City Council. The only site that has been mentioned that possibly fits in with this is the i54 site and even that must be borderline. The other rumoured sites have all been in South Staffs which will be totally different from trying to deal with Wolverhampton City Council. As has been mentioned a drive of 15 minutes from the Stadium could be within quite a large radius on a good day or a small one on a bad day. Lets hope there is serious cause for optimism in this.

  29. I was at the meeting and I'd say the track was tricky for the first 4 races and gradually got better after that. After Max Perry had his unfortunate accident, the forecast rain started to arrive. Once that rain got heavier there wasn't much chance IMO of the meeting being completed. Fairplay to all 14 riders for their efforts on the night. Good Luck to Max I hope he makes a full and speedy recovery.

  31. From evidence we have seen it looks like he has a very large loan to service so he is probably losing a lot of other people's money. And with interest as high as it is, that loan gets a lot bigger the longer it is not fed. Someone owns that loan and may be looking for some way to re-assess the risk profile somewhat. Could be "interesting" if the money drought continues much longer.

  36. Totally agree, it's not the first time a top rider has been caught taking drugs. Richie maybe thought he'd get away with it , how often he was doing this recreationaly is up to him but ignorance of after effects on himself and more importantly others is shameful. On the other hand if , as has come out his drink was spiked then he's been very unlucky.

  37. I'd hazard a guess there are only a few ways cocaine can get into your system and very few of those are inadvertently. He isn't really a 'young man', he's in his 30's and has been a 'professional sportsman' for almost 2 decades- it isn't a silly mistake - he should know better! and you can't seriously compare standing on a stage miming to jumping on a 60mph bike with no breaks with 13 other blokes? Give your head a wobble.

  38. WOW! Shouldn't be allowed his license back full stop. Speedway is dangerous enough without having to race against someone on the Colombian powder.

  42. As an alternative, install Phil Morris as CEO of league speedway (Team GB carries on as is). What he says go, he answers to no one in a similar way to Barry Hearn did in Snooker in the 80's. Phil's success is measured in three metrics, Commercial Income, spectator figures, broadcast/streaming viewing figures. Profits are ploughed back into the sport. This year he has already made the Premiership appear more professional by getting clubs to adopt a similar presentation style to the SGP's for broadcast meetings which is a small step in the right direction.

  44. Speedway fans like to complain about losing riders due to limitation in team building but it's not the only sport it happens in... The salary cap in the NHL means that teams have to move on from big players all the time, buy them out, ship them off to other teams around the league, asset management and keeping the players that's best for the club is all part and parcel of the sport, it's the same with speedway. I would rather there be some sort of team building system in place and have the teams SOMEWHAT level with eachother as opposed to Poole, Glasgow and Oxford signing all the big names and letting the smaller teams scrape up what's left at the bottom of the barrel. Aye the team building isn't ideal, but it's better than nothing...

  46. Leaving aside whether this actually trancends into a return of the Hammers and the whys and why nots, if it were to happen with half decent facilities, it has the potential to be a very well supported club and likely far better supported than previously i would think. Why i say this is it will be the only club in the south east . Since closure at Lakeside Rye , Eastbourne and Kent have gone. i know Iwade are operating as Kent but with Lakeside operating in Premier or Championship fans likely to go there instead. When Rye was Saturdays a few years ago in Premier they were getting decent crowds, c 1,500 - 2,000, and the people i spoke to there were coming from far and wide. At that time there were 3 other tracks in the south. I would be very optimistic if they can get Hammers back on track and sensible stadium facilities here or elsewhere in borough. UP THE HAMMERS ! WOULD BE GREAT TO SEE THEM BACK.

  47. I think the Nag's Head's "achievement" that night means even more than winning any UK Speedway Team Trophy.. Unless, of course, they had fielded a team with players from the Dog and Partridge, The Crown, and The Hope and Anchor, all guesting for them...

  48. Yes, in the history of sport, this was a fantastic achievement which probably compares with....the Nag's Head Chigwell's unforgettable third place in the third division of the 1983 West Essex Tuesday darts league. Awarded because their playoff opponents were too pi**ed to even hit the board, but a magnificent achievement nonetheless
