  1. 1) there are far better ways to achieve that 2) this won't be the case in the Cardiff & Warsaw GPs. I find it odd they created a system for the reason you said, then qualifying can stop the GP winner being top scorer.

  2. Of course, it's terrible when someone uses their knowledge to make a post, as opposed to just blurting out nonsense...

  5. Definitely pleased to have Klindt back, but definitely still a rider short of a top 4 team. I was doubting Niels, but after his performance last week at Oxford, think he will do a decent job for us - leaves MPT / Patryk who I'm not convinced with.....one would be ok, but not both....

  6. Issue was ironed out after heat 5 and produced some terrific racing. Scunthorpe were absolutely atrocious. Howarth is not a number 1 don’t care what anybody says. Comets 1-7 all mucked in but Sam McGuirk had the bit between his teeth towards the end of the meeting. Him and Celina impressed towards the end. Zischke is an absolute steal on a 5 what a rider that lad is going to be. Cookie and Batch shutting the keyboard warriors up, again. Claus getting to grips with the track now too.

  7. To be honest I was completely unaware of this until tonight. Why launch something for just 2 rounds? It’s making a farce of the current scoring. Just do it for every round or don’t bother. Too much of a gimmick for my liking.

  8. Really can't understand the point of the scoring system, for example Woffinden 3 points = 1 GP point. If Woffy had fallen off instead of winning one race, he'd still score the same single point! Then you have Kvech, Wozniak & Vaculik all scoring 6 points, but Vaculik gets 2 more GP points than Kvech - is this really the best they can come up with?

  9. If people paid attention and knew what they were typing about they would know Danny was NOT riding in the NJL ! He rode in the second half to get bike time and sort an engine out.

  18. Scunny"s heat leader trio must be a worry . Howarth did manage to win a race tonight , Allen did battle for his points , but Palm Toft was dreadful . For the home team , Son of God will never score an easier maximum . Schlien and Kemp were able back ups . Don't think the home fans will be looking forward to Son of God returning next Saturday

  20. You get the feeling he would look Bartek in the eye and not be fazed.. And also not let him ride up the inside of him at the apex of any turn...!! Bartek clipping his back wheel would not be a surprise.. Unlike many who basically "soil'" themselves and drift out and get their race ruined as they lock up, heading towards the fence..

  23. Tate must be listed higher, that's how Vuolas was able to take a IRR outing for Tate. When Vuolas was injured only the reserves were lower than him & eligible to take extra rides.

  24. Main rules Must be a new Injury Must apply for two of more rides Place can be taken by any rider below the IRR rider I the hierarchical order of the team's current greensheet (but only once for top five team mates)

  25. I'd say Lynn weren't blessed with loads of choice, but Klindt is a very different rider to KK as his scores last year bear out. Feel we still need another signing though to use up the remaining points and strengthen up the top five.

  27. Didn't attend this one Kev, so didn't know that it wasn't NJL. Someone asked for the results from the "Junior Game" as they called it, so, wrongly, presumed it was an NJL meeting. I stand (well, sit, actually!!) corrected.

  28. I used to ride with Harry during his NJL days. He always was a big talent and I'm sure it's still in there. He did average 7 for belle vue one year, so he's got what it takes. Just needs to iron out his few problems/decide if he wants it. I'm genuinely unsure of his injury past/fitness which is why I'm wondering if he's broken his arm recently? With the movements he was doing after he pulled up in each race? Or is he really just that race rusty Think it was just a few second half races, not an NJL meeting. All races were 500s, redcar always have second halves on and it's brilliant. Perhaps Danny wants to use these chances to try new set ups rather than during a NDL meeting? It's a great opportunity for all the middlesbrough riders in all honesty. I do agree he SHOULD be much better than the NJL.

  31. Providing BV get their gating sorted they will win, however Perry Barr is pretty much a gaters track and if they miss the gate can't see them coming from behind, forget going wide on bend 1&2 nowt out there for anyone, bends 3&4 can occasionally give riders some hope of a pass, weather shouldn't be a problem so looking forward to this meeting.

  33. Never before in 40 years of watching speedway had I seen a start like that. Lambert had been warned that he was not coming to the tapes by the referee and the start marshall. The time was up and the green light was on. Four times Lambert rolled back and was pulled back by the start marshall. Yes FOUR TIMES! Kemp was hesitantly edging forward meanwhile Jack Smiths clutch was burning away. The smell and black s smoke billowing from the engine. The referee eventually let the tapes go and Lambert went on to win the race. The red lights should have come on and Lambert excluded for delaying the start. The referee did nothing to back up the starting marshall. Smith lost his temper with him but it was the referee who should have got his wrath. Mr Dishington showed that he was incapable of controlling a speedway match. He should be struck off the referees list. The whole spectacle was embarrassing! For the sport and especially the standard of refereeing!

  34. I disagree tbh. I think Zach Cook has done well and has gone some what under the radar. I also think Pavlicki will do well given a few more meetings. The issue we have is that we really need a big hitter but who is available that will ride for us? Zagar? Will do a reasonable job... Double figs (including bonus), most nights off five rides I would say.. One win and maybe one last per night, with the rest in scoring positions.. He would keep the score at least closer than maybe some..

  35. Said last season that Holder should kick on when he finally got that first GP win so hopefully that's the case, he's probably the only one in this line-up who could not only potentially threaten Zmarzlik but actually believes he can beat him. The problem is now finding that consistency, you can't really afford a poor meeting because you know that Zmarzlik will be making the final even when he's having an average night.

  42. Same last year.. He often "talked the talk".. But, I wondered who he was often trying to convince.. Himself or us..

  43. Woffinden is a very talented rider and can still turn it on at the top level and he can certainly talk the talk but for me his body language on the bike says he doesn’t really want it enough, his first ride he backed off going into first turn, did a cut back and then basically moved over to let lindgren through, that’s not the body language of a world champion

  44. Based on the last two years.. A gradual decline sets in, eg Magic and Dudek. All very willing but turning around a downward trajectory is very, very difficult.. Especially with so many young bucks coming through.. Many of whom will take risks that the more established riders wont anymore.. Hope I am wrong, but whem you start relying on wild cards it usually only goes one way..

  46. I didn't realise anyone riding as a track reserve ( not in the 'line up ' ) was picked at random and didn't have to qualify for that position.
    1 point
  47. It's all a bit silly isn't it? The SGP already ran sprint races - 23 of them in fact. This is quite aside from the fact that track conditions are going to change between qualifying sessions, so the session you're drawn in is going to influence the selection order for those that don't qualify for the 'sprint race'. Regardless of what's being claimed, it's not going to be the same for everyone. Then there's the 'sprint race' itself. What happens if those four riders wipe each other out before the GP starts? In MotoGP you've got far more riders in a race and you can't get them all on the front grid, so timed qualifying is one of the fairer approaches to lining them up, especially as you can put all the riders in one session where the conditions will be the same for everyone. Speedway - for precisely the reasons it takes place on a much smaller track and only has a small number of riders in each race as a result, has evolved a multi-race all-out sprint format. If you really wanted to add some interest to practice, add some extra wildcards and have them race-off for a couple of places in the GP proper.
