  1. Biggest crowd of the season, with plenty of new faces experiencing Speedway for the 1st time with the partnership with Glasgow Warriors introducing new fans to the sport. With everything from crashes, controversial decisions, hard racing, passing in every heat, team captains showing passion and pride ,that is what you call entertainment. Credit to both teams for showing what speedway should be like.

  2. Pity the train driver for someone walking on the track and the driver being traumatised through no fault of his own

  4. You really are a massive pr..k, Sam like a lot of lads is trying hard to make a successful career out of speedway, sometimes they just get it wrong, do you actually think bewley, lambert and especially Bart got it right every single time, they just got into a habit of going around the pits saying sorry to move experience riders and that’s what Sam and all the young riders have learned to do since time immortal, try being in Sam’s shoes last night travelling home, do you actually think he would have been delighted? Do everyone a favour and keep your comments to yourself unless they are helpful to young lads please .

  5. Just thought it was worth saying that last night's action was superb - proper speedway with all riders giving it 100% on a brilliant race track. With the medic assessing Chris after his frightening crash they sensibly brought forward the kids race and it was great to see so many youngsters take part. Maybe they could do that more often and I mean bring the kids race foward not Bomber crash! Special mention to Jack Smith promoted to the difficult no.2 position and young reserve James Pearson who would have had paid 10 but for a bike failure. Loved every minute of it.

  7. Well done to the Monarchs trust for the £10k donation to the club The trust I believe has donated so much over the years to keep the club afloat.

  8. So if I am getting this right. Replace Kerr and downgrade with Kemp. Replace Kemp and further downgrade with Killeen. The Oxford manager should be getting a random drug test at their next meeting.

  9. Away you go… I’m sure we’d have a great crowd if we started cancelling meetings a couple hours before due to the line up changing. Muppet

  10. But we are so far under the limit, you can replace Kemp with Zmarzlik , no need to put yourself 7/8 points under the limit.

  14. You expect them to take an extra day away from their families, just incase Microsoft has a random daft turn? Who's paying for the (unnecessary on 99.99999% of occasions) overnight accommodation? You happy to chuck a fiver in the collection hat? Good to see Antti Vuolas win a race. Highlight of the evening Speedy recovery to young Sedgy. Woeful 'team riding' from Josh in the first running of heat 1. A good, solid scorechart throughout the Monarchs' ranks. Worky achieved their mission and everyone went home happy (I presume).

  15. Both sides played their part in a very entertaining meeting. Might not win any silverware this year apart from best track in the league.

  16. I’m a bears fan, and much as I am disappointed we lost, the best team won because they have the ruthless winning mentality,Redcar are too nice, but let’s not kid ourselves, Poole are masters of the dark arts,Foord was declared fit to race in heat 2 rerun until someone had a word in his ear, and how can you declare a tac sub in heat 11 and then just change your mind.!! But teams like Poole,Scunthorpe,Glasgow do this while the meek are left behind.

  21. Yes i think it matters, especially to the fans. The season maybe over, but you still want to see your team be a bit competitive.Your kind of thinking only sees more fans leaving the speedway scene even earlier.

  29. Embarrassing. We must be so far under the limit it's a record. If we had tried to start the season with this team, it would not be allowed.

  31. All of the changes so far have just felt like cost cutting. they won’t change the reserves at this stage and the Riss connections have been heavily discussed so it’s only really wright or Harris that would go and unless it’s Zmarzlik/Vaculik coming in there isn’t any point to those

  35. Every change Oxford have made has weakened them imo. Now they've just lost their (supposedly) strong reserve. They either don't want to make the play-offs or have given up for the season & planning for next year with new reserves? I cannot see how these changes can be considered strengthening the team at all.

  36. Exactly Yes lol but didn’t … your point is? Do Poole fans actually watch speedway first Shovlar doesn’t know the rules then says the loss of Foord made it tough lol Would you rather have Hagon take 7 rides or have Foord take 3 of those ?? Erm easy answer that one And then this tac sub issue … Poole were 6 down going into heat 11 up against an unbeaten King …… if Poole had a heat advantage in heat 11 they couldn’t have had a tac sub in heat 12 against a weaker pairing of Gilkes and Mulford It made sense for Poole to get a 3-3 in heat 11….. that’s tactics and absolutely no issue with that but blimey it’s difficult for some Poole fans to understand lol

  37. If fans didn't turn up, I would think the Edinburgh management should maybe look in the mirror first as to the reasons why...? The reailty of course is that the punters who still attend are, by definition of being there, content with what they get served up, so I am sure they will attend regardless of who turns up to ride.. "Select teams" are pretty much the norm these days in the vast majority of matches.. And as for Craig Cook? If he has such impressive mind altering persuasive powers as to make others' mind's up to do things, he is wasting them riding a speedway bike...

  39. I drove from Newcastle to Luton airport last Friday, it took 7 hours with all the constant roadworks on the M1 and the traffic wasn’t even that bad, but going north was worse. Edinburgh is a further 3 hours away. She would have not got there for 7pm, more like 9 or 10 in reality.

  40. Are you joking? Do you know how long that takes lol. You have to go back down to London to make your way back north, stadium would be empty by the time she arrived

  41. First and foremost, Oxford Stadium is a greyhound stadium. The owner is quite happy to allow speedway on site. Often, as on Thursday there is greyhound racing during the day and I suspect the track curator was unable to to water and grade consistently throughout the day. Yes the delays at the start of the meeting were frustrating but it still finished at 21.25 hours precisely. Will Oxford speedway lose custom as a result of Thursday's meeting? Absolutely not. We had 2 track records and some fantastic racing with multiple passing and re-passing. Just look at the Speedway Updates proboards to check that out - gate and go it was not. Despite many people stating that Oxford were set up to fail with 3 teams, that was never going to happen because we are delighted to have regular speeday each week. One final point, the promotion have been brilliant since the re-opening. So, onwards and upwards.

  43. At the start of the season we were told that there was a commitment to development of future British riders. All clubs must either compete in the NDL, compete in an organised second-half competition (NJL, MDL), or run a round of the new Development Series. Anyone failing to help the future of the sport in this country would be fined £5,000. Below is a list of the clubs and their commitment to Development League racing. Are we to assume Berwick, Ipswich, King's Lynn and Plymouth are opting to take the £5,000 fine? Or do they have plans? Belle Vue - National League Berwick - NOTHING Birmingham - MDL Edinburgh - National League & NJL Glasgow - NJL Ipswich - NOTHING King's Lynn - NOTHING Leicester - National League, MDL, & Development Series Round Oxford - National League Plymouth - NOTHING Poole - Development Series Round Redcar - National League Scunthorpe - Part National League Sheffield - Part National League Workington - NJL

  47. Of course I'm risking the comeback of 'you would say that' but for me if a rider witholds his services then he shouldn't be allowed to go elsewhere that season. If hes sacked then fair enough, or settles his differences and comes back for his original club but there has clearly been some underhand stuff going on here on the rider's part, however he dresses it up. Don't blame Ipswich for asking but I think the BSPL have decided correctly.

  48. Until I saw them written out like that I hadn't fully realised that that's all we have left in terms of clubs in the UK. My goodness, that's depressing.
