The lift from holder wasn’t intentional therefor no card should be considered,as much as it startled lampart causing him to shut off I don’t think it would of resulted in a crash even if lampart hadn’t of shut off, if it did cause a crash then holder would be excluded but you cant run a sport on what ifs. speedway is a hard game rid by strong minded individuals, sometimes it’s your day other times it isn’t, they all know that6 points

Edwards is a joy to watch on a bike for an old timer like me coming from the upright 2 and 4 valve days. He looks so comfortable on the bike, moves around a lot less than the modern trend but never seems flapped or out of control. Going to Sheffield has probably been ideal for him to let the bike run in the corners and ride in deeper into the bend, having been bought up on the more technical tracks. Steadily improving and fair play to him. Hopefully he can find a PL spot when his Rising Star period ends. Off the bike he seems universally popular and a very good and interesting communicator. Fair play to the lad.5 points

Looks like I've been blocked from the Oxford FB page. Shame clubs can't be as quick to block all the scammers lol! Can't deny I'm disappointed, I don't swear, I'm not abusive to riders, I don't suggest they aren't trying. However I am honest when I comment, such as I think Kemp is better than Killeen & Kerr is better than Kemp. Surely when Oxford made those changes, they must have known they'd come under plenty of stick for it? If they blocked everyone who disagreed with Schroeck's team managing, there'd be virtually no one left!5 points

Regardless what I think our owners have decided not to stream. It shouldn’t even be a debate.4 points

Is there such a rule in British speedway still? I’m sure there used to be. I seem to recall Polish leagues have yellow and red cards for dangerous riding. I’m a neutral but wasn’t Chris Holder’s pass on Lampart on the televised meeting on Eurosport an example of this? I couldn’t believe the ref didn’t exclude Holder.3 points

It’s not as if it’s a new thing , and the reason given why not. It was explained to him last year why we don’t stream and here we are again same old sh!t different season.3 points

Only match left this season where we can’t watch a Pirates match on a video stream. In 2024 that’s pretty poor from Glasgow when other much smaller clubs in the league have been streaming for several seasons, and making money out of it. Redcar on Friday consisted of a single camera and a commentator when there was action. Hardly costs much to put together and for £11.99 good value for money. As for the meeting, well Pirates should win it but you never know. Was surprised when Glasgow announced their lineup and thought it was below par. Should be a good meeting. Shame you actually have to be at the ground to witness it.3 points

KL problems started from that night it’s been a downward spiral season on season from then on - the rights and wrongs of that night are irrelevant now but riders talk riders see what went on think that has in a way stopped Aussie riders coming to race for the club were as before that night we’d always had a good tradition of using Aussies that seems to have stopped .Has the club signed a Aussie since Holder and Batch ? Off the top of my head I’d say no . Chapmans enthusiasm for speedway died that night as well .3 points

With the riding order changed, it's dawned on me Oxford have weakened in 3 different ways. 1) Riss will score less in the main body of the team. 2) Boughen will score less, now he's not the RS. 3) Killeen will score less as a RS than Boughen did. That's some going when making ONE change lol!3 points

Paid maximums for Lewis Kerr and Drew Kemp coming up.... Oxford Cheetahs: 1. Sam Masters, 2. Cameron Heeps, 3. Ashton Boughen, 4. Jordan Jenkins, 5. Scott Nicholls, 6. Luke Killeen, 7. Jody Scott. Berwick Bandits: 1. Lewis Kerr, 2. Danyon Hume, 3. Drew Kemp, 4. Leon Flint, 5. Jye Etheridge, 6. Freddy Hodder, 7. Joe Thompson.2 points

Same for me by saying by replying to someone saying I don’t know what the fans are expecting the management to do. I replied with ‘probably not to weaken the team with every rider change. Quite simple really’ And in response to who do you suggest they sign ‘Not for me to suggest who they sign but every single change has reduced the team average. Simple maths means we are weaker. Previous rules i actually think we were close to the minimum averages’ These were worthy of being removed. Nothing controversial but obviously someone doesn't like not blowing smoke up the management teams bottom . As Ricky Gervais said ’This is the thing about freedom of speech. Everyone agrees with it until you hear something you don’t like’2 points

Only club it seems to happen at then, as small teams like Plymouth make a profit from the stream. Redcar and Edinburgh also add to their revenue and even Oxford now stream their meetings. With Glasgow a long way for most fans to travel to, the people who pay for a stream would never attend anyway. Plus you could ban a stream for fans who live within a certain distance.2 points

I thought teams had to declare their line up 3 days before the meeting. With King's Lynn team on the Ipswich website having 2 guests TBC and nothing on the KL website at all, will this meeting even take place. Surprised Ipswich haven't got a guest for Doyle (Scotty or Brennan) and be more cutthroat like Sheffield last night at Birmingham getting Fricke in. If they didn't I think they may have lost last night with RR.2 points

You are right, but wouldn't be surprised if his situation changes because his Polish league team (Landshut) are rock bottom of the league and only have 2 meetings left (28th July and 3rd August) with no extra play off matches to come. Riss would therefore only have his Oxford PL meetings left, riders always like to be kept busy up as long as they can in a season. Comets have a guaranteed 9 meetings left plus potential for BSN final x2 (unlikely I know) and potential play-off meetings. Can't think of any other available/suitable riders who are already setup in the UK this season, which cuts down on signing-on fees etc.2 points

For me this is where the meeting was lost for the Brummies... Considering the experience of the 4 reserves, the Brummies pair should not be out scored by the Tigers pair.2 points

I'm sure many teams have instructed riders to finish in certain positions so a tac sub could be used in the next race, cheating well it may or may not be but certainly not exclusive to one particular team and has been going on for years.2 points

Mainly because I was referring to Tate's replacement. Personally, I feel Workington shouldn't replace Celina, but if they were to, yes, he could make sense.2 points

Absolutely. I started going over to Poland in 2008 to see Ekstraliga matches and went every year up to and including 2019. it was immediately obvious from our very first match at Zielona Gora that speedway was, as you say, just on a different planet there to the UK version. We've taken in several second-tier matches too through the years, and they've been excellent presentations too. As I posted a few posts back, I was at Wroclaw on Friday night after an unintended break away from Poland for 5 years, and, although I've seen just as good - and some better - racing at the NSS, the whole package of attending an Ekstraliga match is an experience to behold. Since getting home, I've watched the match back on TV and, unfortunately, you cannot really get a sense of what it's like to be there in the crowd and watch everything unfold in front of you. To anyone who hasn't been yet - and is physically and financially able to do so - I'd certainy urge them to give it a try.2 points

I personally think the riders are dictating the sport to suit their own needs and Promotions are just going with it.They are probably have still got the same wages bill in a seriously weakened league in recent seasons.Dont think crowds have improved markedly at most Clubs.1 point

So if it doesn't/won't work why is it that Glasgow, Poole seem to retain there crowds when they are in the so called second tier of British Speedway?, their needs to be a drastic change not only to the promotion/presentation of Speedway but also to the actual make up of what is presented. County Cricket was/is on it's ass a few years ago and still is, but the powers that be introduced Sunday League (40 Overs per side) many years ago, and over recent seasons have introduced even shorter versions ie "The Hundred" etc etc the recent shorter versions of the game of Cricket have seen it thrive worldwide. I think it's time the people that run Speedway in this country took a leaf out of Cricket's book and introduced a shorter version alongside the 4 lap formula, perhaps have 6 man teams as has been suggested, then mid meetings have the 6 riders by the tapes and have 6 x 1 lap dashes the winner 2 points, second 1 point 3/4th places 0 points, is that 3 races each ?, short and sharp to get the juices flowing anyways you get the idea.1 point

But you’d imagine it will be Palm Toft, Z.Cook or Lampart (outside chance of Brennan)1 point

The watering down of team strenghts is the main reasons why crowds fell away...its been done it dont work1 point

I can't understand it. It's like Schroeck has decided to drop every rider who's underperformed even if there's not a stronger replacement out there? Except Janowski. Like you I'm struggling to think of a time something like this has happened before1 point

I knew what I meant but av now corrected it myself. But thank you anyway for reading and digesting my thread, sorry it gurgled at the end!1 point

King or Nichols look the best available guests looking at the sides not in action. Either way can't see anything other than a Poole win. Top 4 far too strong and young hagon at reserve shown a liking for the place to support them.1 point

Track surface was a complete joke, meeting itself apart from the odd race was just gate and go and quite why it wasn’t watered properly is beyond me. Closeness of the meeting was the only thing that kept the interest but Sheffield got the killer blow in heat 12 and it just left the Brummies with an impossible job. They should never have got rid of Zach Cook that’s very clear, Ermolenko clearly hasn’t got a clue and Tolley just looks ridiculous.1 point

The sport lost the best opportunity ever for change and reinventing itself after the pandemic but it decided the same old thing and it now is reflecting the inept attitude of those who run it the sport. It has nothing to do with those who have the money to invest and would I put my money where my mouth is, no way given the cartel of hobbiest who run clubs and until it stops pretending to be something it no longer is, it will continue on a downward spiral under the current regime. It can be a great sport but not run the way it is today. Even listening to the commentary on the broadcast shows the heart is not in it.1 point

Watering now it appears, trouble is they have lost the track now, needed doing after heat 41 point

Is there any point Oxford having a team manager? Where's the tac sub Peter? Heat 9 was surely the time to use it. Edit: Guess heat 12 was better than nothing. Still shocked he didn't wait until heat 14.1 point

If Lynn pull out of the PL this season without fulfilling their fixtures, the same promotion should not be allowed to compete in the CL next season imo1 point
