You're right about Tate and Antti still learning away tracks and any other newcomers having to learn away tracks will make the Comets suspect away from home. Personally I can see Jye being a big improver this year. He'll love his new home track and the wide open spaces, plus from the teams point of view having someone else in the team who knows all the away tracks will be essential. I can see Jye adding 1.5 points on his average this year. I think Jye at his worst is a 5.00 point rider. I think he'll be a good improver and will be good for the team too.7 points

I don’t think masters is on the decline like some have said, I think he’s pretty much the same as he was a few years ago when he was no.1 for wolves, I just think there’s been an influx of higher level heat leaders return to the uk last couple of seasons and he now is more of a 3rd heat leader level in the pecking order4 points

As I said at the time, Lewy knows nothing. He edited to say Toby was back to cover himself. Anyway great news he is back, a crowd favourite and a real battler.3 points

The press release advising of the re-signing of Tobias went out yesterday but was embargoed until 7pm tonight. I suspect either someone who saw it sent it on to Lewy or else Lewy received it directly. Either way, the protocol for press releases was breached and was allowed to fall into the irritating realm of “I know something you don’t know” I would expect that @Skidder was one of the recipients but, as an experience journalist, he had the class to observe the embargo2 points

Because they were above the points limit. Not easy to strengthen up in that scenario. While they are weaker, I don't see any of the riders picked being particularly bad choices.2 points

I think Rowe for Howarth is an improvement, the problem Sheffield have is at reserve .2 points

Shame Poole aren't meeting Leicester in the k.o.cup as they wouldn't need to strengthen much!2 points

I went to Leicester a few times last season, great crowd and good banter everytime, and will definetly return this season and probably not just to watch Ipswich. I know they had to drop some points, and losing Lawson for Howarth for me is a real kick in the teeth for a good bunch of Supporters, but thats the Points situation i suppose, but i have to say getting Craig Cook back is a disaster in my opinion only, i hope im wrong, but if i was a Leicester fan, that would dissappoint me more than Howarth. But their Gaffa does change things around, he isnt afraid to do that, so we will wait and see, if Cook wasn't 1st choice, and i expect that is true, then who was??2 points

Stewart's not afraid to make changes and if Becker struggles early on and drops his average then I can see Stewart stamping his authority quite quickly with a team change or two. I'm not writing Leicester off entirely but as it stands it's not a play-off side.2 points

I think any youngsters coming to Glasgow has a good chance to greatly improve, with the 2 tracks big and small and unrestricted track time they would have a great chance to really develop.2 points

Good to see a line has been drawn under the matter. I know Alex is passionate about his speedway, and the Stars. And maybe sometime in the future he could be involved again in some capacity.2 points

For a start his Championship average is above many riders who have higher Premiership averages, such as: Sedgmen, Kerr, King, Worrall, Z Cook, Howarth, Wright & Zischke. So if he can beat them in the Champ, he should be able to beat them in the Prem. Then he showed what he can do on his best day with 16 points at Sheffield. His 2024 average for Oxford & Leicester was 5.40 (from 14 meetings). The reason he has a lower starting average must therefore be due to having low scores in final 6 meetings in 2023, which is not so relevant when judging his form ahead of 2025. I also said "but with Cook, you can never be sure what he'll do" but there's plenty of reasons for Leicester fans to be positive imo1 point

Has there ever been a mid-west speedway team? Hereford, Shrewsbury, Oswestry?? Is that too mid-west?1 point

Would be very good reserves, a strong top 3 at home. Much would depend on Bowes imo.1 point

Good move. Keeps us clear of possible Polish complications. Suits my personal circumstances too.1 point

Because, since the return of the "stars" it's been proven that you need 2 decent heat leaders that can get you a result in 13, 15 and any super heat, Leicester didn't have this last season when it counted and we've gone down the same path again for next season. With the line up it's looking like they're going to field next season, it looks to be more of the same only without the granted 7-9 points from Lawson, which means that everybody has to be always on their game, which sadly (for us) wasn't the case in the final (or semi for that matter)1 point

I noticed the Workington post announced the signing of Etheridge as having a "false average" I'd disagree with that, he has that average for a reason. But he certainly has the potential to improve that figure, even if it's only by a little, still a good signing, as I expect the improvement to come elsewhere in the team Zischke/ Vuolas / Foord.1 point

A lot of people will point to this as they did last season when we signed him... only to have to draft in guests when he inevitably went missing. Why we'd be wanting to bring in other teams cast offs when he inevitably goes missing again this season is anybody's guess 🤷♂️1 point

Sam would be a half decent signing untill June 30th . then we can replace him with william cairns when he is 16. . . . . just a thought . poole porch pirates would not be appy .. lets wait n see .i have got a big spoon for Christmas . i know its a wooden one cos my magnet will not stick to it .. poole think they are getting mr Cairns.1 point

It's away from home that the reserves will struggle, having to take at least seven rides between them. Max Perry scored just one point in ten rides for Poole ... And it was by beating Freddy Hodder at Berwick! Is he going to be another Luke Chessell? We should have gone for a better balanced team rather than the top heavy top five.1 point

My biggest complaint is making a prediction (for fun) and being told rider A, B or C isn't available for this or that club, to which I reply "they haven't been announced yet" - which gets the response - that doesn't matter, they've already signed, it's like I'm basically being told I'm not allowed to make predictions with certain riders because someone has told me there going elsewhere?1 point

James was a very skilful and fast young rider around Ashfield, everyone who visited Ashfield could see that. He beat a lot of good riders in his first season with the club. He probably had only visited most away tracks twice at the most before joining the Tigers, so his away form wasn'ta complete surprise. To me he was a success and I'm really disappointed that he's not in next year's team.1 point
