Just wanted to say it’s been a pleasure watching and listening to Ben Barker over these past two days. Well done, him. I thought BSN did him absolutely dirty during the winter when they posted that media which showed him to have the biggest drop in average in 2024, so I was delighted to see him in amongst it at Workington and Scunthorpe. Signing-off qualifying and securing a semi-final spot with a heat 20 win against Thompson, Masters and Harris was superb. I also found his pit side interviews with Greg Blair to be really insightful; he gives you nuggets of information a fan wouldn’t consider. For example, there were seven heats between his first and second rides, but with no other Plymouth rider competing, he was at a disadvantage because every other rider had a teammate present, advising on how the track is developing, the best lines, etc. Well done, Ben. A great weekend.

Since the second year of the RS system, the RS had to be at number 7 & couldn't be replaced in heat 8. Plus no tac subs in heat 8. The Champ is slightly different, no tac subs in heat 8, but strongest reserve can ride at 6 or 7, plus reserve changes allowed in heat 8.

I don't like the GP System. I believe that, to a point, Speedway lost it's soul following the scrapping of the 'one off' Final. I loved the 'one off' World Finals though. Excitement, tension, gnawed finger nails right through to the end of the Meeting. It was great in those days.

You are not taking into account that riders wouldn't settle for thirds and seconds over a 20 heat meeting, the potential for more competitive races is obvious. If Worrall had won it after his 4th ride, then so be it, he deserved it. There are still rostrum places to ride for...

To be fair MJJ did look quite impressive at Leicester especially as he'd never seen the track before

I can't understand it, everybody should have a 2nd tyre ready before the meeting, if it doesn't get used, just use it for the next meeting, it's not rocket science is it?

Penny pinching causes this. Only the 6 qualifiers get a 2nd tyre. The two guys straight to the final then go out on a cold tyre that does not work as good as the semi finalists who have a warm tyre. All riders should get 2 tyres before the meeting and if that is not affordable then make the last chancers do an extra ride on their original tyre.

I've been on about the catering in previous threads over the last few seasons,it's been p..s poor ever since the old catering unit was replaced...curry sauce was second to none and the steak pie was to die for....not any more!!

Ben is an entertainer. I love having a chat with him on Gladiators TV because you're always learning something. He's passionate about the club and will be desperate to right some wrongs of recent seasons. As you point out, his average has dropped but surely, of all the riders in the league, he's got most scope to improve his average? If he stays injury free, I can see him putting two points on his average at least by the end of the season

Not sure they do tbh. Not many of the regular Witches rode there last year because of the injury situation, but those that did (King Thompson Jenkins) all struggled. Emil obviously the exception. Looking forward to the BSN stream. I know even you Birmingham fans are critical of the track and poor racing there but hopefully this one bucks the trend and we see an entertaining meeting. Just hope they get plenty of water down because that was an issue at Oxford and the racing was non existent. No disrespect to Erik Riss, but when he’s hitting a 20+ pointer you know it’s bad! Please not another dust bowl.

What a very strange & insensitive comment. Clearly, as stated, the family have decided to let Tai decide when & what details are released regarding the injuries and treatments he has had to endure. In the meantime, his wife & mum have taken the opportunity to sincerely offer heartfelt thanks & recognition to the folk who in the immediate aftermath of the incident made all the right calls to save Tai from an outcome far more final than from what you think are newsworthy injuries. Those of us who share concern over the health of one of speedways greatest riders have been please to read the message and will continue to abide by the request not to speculate any further in preference to waiting for further official updates to be released at a time whenTai and his family decide is appropriate.

For a 6.5 rider away from home against Belle Vue's heat leaders, that's not an awful showing. However for a GP rider it's very disappointing. But he did nothing to warrant a GP return except be born in Czech Republic tbh.

I’m sure most of us agree that he shouldn’t be in the GP series but Kvech only scoring 4 points after 3 rides at the NSS really isn’t good enough.

Was thinking the same,either that or the Organisers have 6 wheels with tyres on.Riders would just have too change sprockets.They would then take the rims back and keep them for future similar events.

Like you said each to their own & I know many people like finals, but I don't get excited about them as I feel the meeting should've been won by Worrall. I guess I feel like Harris was winning a competition set up to give a second chance for people who weren't good enough to win over a fair 20 heat format. I don't get the logic of rewarding riders who were near the top, but not the best. "Finals exist to not only crown the most consistent performer, but also the person who can prove it under pressure" I can agree they may prove who is the better under pressure, but finals don't crown the most consistent performer, Harris was quite inconsistent. You make a fair point about the mental aspect of a low pressure qualifying system vs an all-on-the-line-final, but if there was no final, then there wouldn't be a low pressure qualifying system. I agree the final can make an exciting end to the meeting, however they do take away a bit of excitement from all of the rest of the races, fans know that the first 20 heats aren't so vital. In Worrall's last ride instead of being excited about watching the Championship decider, fans know it's just another heat. So is a final "creating" excitement or just "transfering" it from elsewhere? Finally I was a Rye House / Arena-Essex but now really a neutral fan. I like the excitement of every race counting, not one more than others.

My own personal opinion is the person who signed him is a personal friend of cook and is trying to cover for him, he was made to bring in kemp at Leicester because Phil morris made him as they didn’t want the official press day to have this issue for all to see but Phil morris isn’t over the championship so he is using this silence to hopefully get cook out the pub(so to speak) and resume his career, which on a friend level I get but this is a professional sport (allegedly)not a rehab center for those with issues outside of the sport.the fans of Berwick deserve answers(they pay the wages remember)and have a team of riders they can get behind and the longer this saga goes on the more the fans are getting mugged

There was no money tonight, they donated their wages to tai, there is no such thing as best equipment is in Poland, an engine for Poland won’t work in England and they use tubeless tyres over there which give lots more grip, they are banned here
