  4. The line up for the meeting is indicative of the current state of British speedway. in days gone by there were two semi finals feeding through to a top quality line up for the final. Now we have only one semi final made up of Premiership reserves & championship second strings which reflects poorly on the so called development of British talent. Sad to see!

  5. The only sport I watch on telly is speedway, but I am not going to pay £31 per month for it. I thought I would watch the highlights on Dmax. Imagine my surprise when I see the SGP is allocated 30 minutes yes half an hour for 23 heats! Will it be worth watching, I wonder. At least the British matches are allocated an hour for 15 heats. Something doesn't add up with 23 heats crammed into half the time allowed for 15 heats. Thanks Discovery, you have ruined my enjoyment of Speedway, as I am not able to go to meetings anymore (Age, distance, finance etc.). I am sure this is is not what the people who gave Discovery a ten year(?) contract signed up for. Having enjoyed the coverage up until now, I can't wait to see the end of the contract and hope someone better will take over.

  6. Not it wasnt watered ,simply because it had been watered from 6.30 am until 6.30 pm, if more had gone on after that it would of just sat on the top surface , making puddles which riders definitely do not want, they get filled in . In fact we were asked to try and dry it out abit with the grader at ht7. In Poland they have very different tracks, very different equipment, even the material. In my opinion watering a track is a very dark art, 1 bowser to many and you have materials that turn to slop, not quite enough then you have dust.

  8. Maybe it would, that's his problem. I just thought the other post was a bit of a needless dig. Not at all surprised, though. I enjoy going to Berwick regardless tbh - and will do even moreso now. The racing will never be great but it's rarely awful, and it's a big, fast track where you can spectate very closely. Not many left these days.

  9. Going against the grain here but I’m disappointed with the club. Reply’s to comments on other media suggest it was done in the best interest of Borke while Borke indicates otherwise. I fear the 28 day recovery sabbatical is a soft way of saying we have canned a fan favourite, a rider who was severely injured in service to the club and a rider I believe deserves more than two meetings to prove their worth. Hodder got a full season of flipping his bike at the gate and finishing half a lap behind. I believe Borke deserves more from Berwick. As a fan, the Club, the promotion and Smith will get my full support but this definitely leaves a bitter after taste.

  11. Tonight's U21 Qualifier should be interesting for Poole fans, a chance to see how Will Cairnes competes with his U21 contemporaries.

  12. I have suggested this for the past few years. It means more money for riders and reduced amount of guests and searching for riders

  13. And in fairness we could use a T/S for one of Ashton's rides, I'm sure we'll be using one! 😵

  14. talking rubbishe!! the track is amazing 99% of the time and always makes for a fair meeting… Oxford were just majorly slow

  15. Well I realise it's only Arthur and me who are actually interested? but I would say that that's an encouraging result. Roll on July the whatever!

  16. That's exactly it, one rider is willing to travel because he wants to make a living as a speedway rider. The other is willing to put his career on hold & hope for a more Southern Champ club? That's how I see it. I'm not having a go at Ablitt, I wouldn't want to travel from the south coast to Berwick for home matches, but with not many clubs these days, it's a risk sitting out of the Champ & only doing NL/NT when you're a 5 point champ rider.

  18. IF I had the money I would try to revive the Diamonds. But it ain't that easy, even if I did have the cash to do so. Finding somewhere to race seems to be a no go anyway, so it probably won't happen. My opinion on the Berwick track is just that, an opinion. This is an open forum for discussion. As I've said in an earlier post, good on all the previous promotions and the current one for keeping it going. And, just to clarify, it was an observation, not a "moan" and was directed at the track, not Berwick as a whole.

  19. Jack Smith is the epitome of a journeyman rider, seen as a last gasp or short term signing, as is the case in this situation. However it is clear the Bastian Borke is a mile away from sufficient race fitness that justifies his team place at present and I back the clubs decision to drop Borke be it temporarily or not as the situation could not continue. Though it does seem the club and rider have differing views on the events of the last day or so. Not sure if Smith is the answer though.

  20. Maybe if Steve Park put his time into saving / reviving the Diamonds rather than moaning about Berwick it would be a different story.

  22. Does make me wonder why season after season Plymouth ship in an expensive gamble. Baek, Turner, Goret all came in with debateable pedigree and Cluff is little different. There has to come a point in time where taking expensive gambles on riders with blind hope has to be replaced with some sensible team building.

  23. Ok, but taking you thinking to the point of implementation means riders could be forced by a promoter or organising body to ride in any meeting they wish them to appear in, irrelevant of the riders own wishes. Such exploitative practices where individuals are forced to work against their will are the crux of modern day slavery which is prevented by suitable and agreed contracts of work/employment/engagement being put in place.

  24. Not Rew then 😁 In that case R/R rather than Howarth for me. And fingers crossed Nic has a good day.

  25. It would have to be R/R with Kvech and Klindt taking Cook’s rides (which I think is what we’ll go with)… or the pretty in form Howarth guesting if Rob really wanted a full 7 🤷🏻‍♂️

  32. Think they are all great options but it's wether any of them would come to ride in the UK, only basso and tarasenko have in recent years

  33. Plus Jack Smith is likely to score well at Glasgow and probably Redcar giving Berwick a chance of nicking points from these fixtures

  42. Lol I did wonder why I was brought into the conversation 🤪 , AND if I'd known where Rory was doing the commentary from he might have got one but as he made his own at the start of the meeting tbh didn't give it another thought

  44. 14+1 paid maximum for Dan Thompson in the Championship last night. Ipswich and Chris Louis deserve huge credit for turning this young man’s career around. Dumped by his parent club a couple of seasons ago (a decision they now must hugely regret), his improved form was almost instant under the guidance of Louis and he’s not looked back since. Any young rider trying to make their way up the Speedway ladder should take heed of that when choosing their club to ride for.
