  1. There has never been a bigger likelihood of speedway returning to Brandon than there is today, it may not fit the doom monger narrative but maybe give credit to those who haven’t rolled over and given up. Nobody is saying anything about a multi million restoration, it would be a basic version initially and a lot of the old buildings may have to go. But can speedway get back there, absolutely it can, let’s see… 👀

  2. The end of the year will come and go and there will be nothing announced. He means well (I think) and fair play he's kept Brum going, but the reason that people don't go and watch Speedway in Brum has nothing to do with the word "Speedway" being omitted from the fans replica team shirts. His bit about the motorway service station and people not knowing what he was wearing was comical..... Its because year in year out he builds a crap team. Its poor management, it's the same in any business. No doubt, he runs a successful business, a world he understands, but when you listen to him, its clear he knows very little about running a Speedway Team. A little bit like when we had Mick Horton. If the team was winning, or at least has a semi decent chance of winning at home, more people would go. And in a city the size of Birmingham, there are plenty of other things to go and spend your money on. I appreciate its difficult though as Brum are always left with the riders no one else wants, and as a result all ride out of position. EDIT: You compare Tolley with Peter Facenna later on in the Podcast, which was a great listen, and they are worlds apart. A person who clearly knows what he is doing and has the right team surrounding him.

  18. If it wasn't so sad it was quite comical listening to his interview, the shirts, that he's responsible for, not having the word Speedway written on them! His head completely in the clouds regarding the Alexander stadium! £6,000 rent per meeting, meaning tickets for his 600 crowd would have to start at £100 before you even get to thinking about paying riders, cloud cuckoo land, why even mention it as a possibility, he may as well have gone to Villa Park! A fool and his money are easily parted, he obviously knows how to make and sell badges, but like you say running a Speedway promotion not so much, he needed better people around him I think, and now he's talking about inflicting the same process on another club, it beggars belief!

It’s not gloating about injuries, I wish the injured riders well as I’m sure others will. Ipswich fans getting on there high horses for nothing here. tells me your worried

  33. It's not from anything that I've read, it's more from what I've heard from a number of podcasts and on BSN. I didn't want to single him out but okay, you've forced my hand... @IanBrannan I know he's on here and will read this, so I'll start off by saying he produces great podcasts and does a stellar job on BSN and while I understand it's great to have a glass half full outlook on life, I'm more of a pragmatist. I don't know which club you support but what you've got to understand is that us Cov fans put up with a lot of 🐄💩 from Mick Horton who strung us out for his last couple of years, whenever he was asked anything about the future of the club the same old replies kept coming, there's stuff going on behind the scenes, we're looking at sites, I can't say too much at the moment. So when I hear things these days like the return of Speedway to Coventry may be closer than you think my first reaction in the face of any real news on this front is I've heard it all before. Especially when we've seen the closure of many clubs over the years, remember the roof at Odsal? Remember we're just dotting the i's and crossing the t's for Long Eaton's new stadium and it still goes on today more recently with Wolverhampton, there's a site 15 miles away... Swindon and their new just off the M4 track. Like I've said before, nothing would please me more than to see the return of Speedway to Brandon but to be told we're following a "doom monger narrative" when commenting on the information we actually have in the public domain is difficult to take. Some others may come at it with a bit more of a sledgehammer approach but I'm not going to give up hope, but at the moment that is all it still is... hope 🙏

  36. Where have you got that impression from? I haven't read anything anywhere that says a return to Brandon is imminent, and I follow all the reports from the Save Coventry Speedway campaign. I find all their reports to be honest and helpful, and I commend them on the terrific fight they have put up so far, but I haven't seen anything saying the fight is over and a return is imminent. What have you been reading?

  43. Think you’re spot on with that. Kileen had advantage of an experienced mechanic who knows the setups around Glasgow (mechanics for one of the Glasgow team) but he just seemed to be going backward heat by heat. Not sure what the answer is as you don’t want to say bring in likes of Jody Scott before he’s had a chance to dip his toes with Redcar. Only one that I think could do the job is Luke Harrison but like a lot of the available rising star riders that would mean him having 4 teams in UK (already has Scunthorpe, Scunthorpe/Sheffield & Kings Lynn Young Stars)

  44. I think Oxford are asking too much of young Killeen. Watching him in the U21 final on Sunday. He was a shadow of the rider he was last year. His scores suggest that he's really struggling in the top league and you can see in his riding his confidence is low. Just like Boughen. I think he needs taking out of the firing line. i have no idea who could replace him. but the RS system is not working for a lot of these young riders.. Leicester took Hagon out of the firing line because he was not scoring. Look at him on Sunday (Lower Standard) but he looked like he had a lot more confidence on the bike and went on and won the meeting. If he was still at Leicester scoring hardly any pts. Would he have won that meeting?

  45. Realistically it needs to be one big league only with riders committed to British Speedway, 2H2A, no doubling up, on the best race night for the club.

  46. Thompson found himself in that position to be judged because he had to take evasive action from Killeen. You can see from the picture below, Killeen’s veered three feet to his right from the start to the first bend. He was on one wheel with his head jerked back (which is why he’s looking up in this picture) and his left boot is in the air, mere inches from the first bend. Thompson’s read that; if he doesn’t take evasive action by cutting back, Killeen’s hitting him. As a result, he’s stepped in front of Foord who can do nothing other than nudge him. By the time Killeen’s deep in the first bend, he’s where those in gate three found themselves. Killeen hasn’t done anything illegal, but a lack of control on his part has subsequently cost Thompson, Ipswich and Glasgow, big time. Harris had to take similar evasive action against Polis at Ashfield last week. Fortunately, that didn’t put him in danger, but three seconds later, Polis and Howarth went down.

  47. We deserved that defeat. Shocking performance early in the meeting. Again took 8-9 heats to get going. This time it cost us and comical time in heat 14 when gating on a 5-1 turned into a 4-2 to Berwick with Starke falling on the last bend to gift Berwick the win. Some extremely poor performances from our captain Zack Cook. Mobile chicane. Tobias no better. Just poor. Every meeting this year we start so slow and this time, just like Oxford at home, we ran out of heats. Hagon decided to have his best meeting in months and was excellent. Against his old club? He should be fired up like that every meeting. There’s a talent in there. Hume was good and I have always liked Drew Kemp. He is now beginning to fulfil his potential as a very decent rider.
