He shouldn’t be anywhere near a speedway track he is shot to pieces and is a danger to himself and others I don’t care how young he is once you have lost confidence you can’t race … the great Shawn Moran stopped when he realised he was shutting off all the time he had lost the confidence The whole stadium knows he isn’t injured it’s just underhand tactics to get a result … seems to have fired the witches up a bit though5 points

Abi just summed up one of the big issues with speedway for me, opposing riders having a laugh while the meeting is on. After the meeting is fine but surely any tension and atmosphere just evaporates while everyone is being so nice to each other during a contest.5 points

Cannot begin to explain how unprofessional this whole broadcast is. It is absolutely laughable. BSN should be extremely proud of what they have created because it completely trumps this garbage.5 points

Go on Matej, I could listen to his interviews all day. TV Gold.4 points

I wouldn’t be surprised if Boughen is sacked by both clubs within this week. The lad needs to either take a break to sort his head out or drop down and focus on NDL.4 points

No mention even of the match on the BV website - it's a glossy site, but is absolute rubbish.4 points

Start an argument in an empty room you, you ruin every thread with your squabbling. Give it a rest, you might even feel better3 points

He would have been better just riding for Workington to ease himself back in after his injuries.3 points

Or as my husband dryly commented "there are more tractors than spectators" [He was impressed by Paco's tache, but he left the room muttering something about going to watch some paint dry]3 points

When have the rules in speedway mattered? Everyone knows they are written on toilet paper and flushed when they need re-writing .😉3 points

Sounds a bit on an arrogant comment, no rider should risk injury for any team, but why should Cairns play it safe for Belle Vue when he's not even riding for Poole yet?3 points

I can't think of anyone in the recent past who has been as articulate and sensible off the track and he is a steady improver on it. If he lacks anything it's just the kind of horse-power that some with less ability and dedication seem to attract. He does a lot of work to promote the Sport too and it's a shame that his spell at Birmingham will now ony be for a season. Credit to the Sport3 points

Agree, I knew Ipswich were going to have problems tonight with Lambert guesting as he's been shocking in the Championship for Scunny and he's well in with Buster to a point where I wouldn't put it past Buster to pay him points money to ride poorly. Guest booking that didn't make any sense tbh. Think it's game over if Hume guests at Foxhall as Kvech will fill his boots again.2 points

I bet we will get Hume and that is no better. I don’t know the answer but I do know soon as I saw lambert today I knew we weren’t gaining anything from 6. Adam having an off night is a shame but we go again.2 points

Really made up for the Brummies and their long suffering fans, brilliant stuff. Followed it on updates, seemed a lot of action.2 points

Should have took 2&4. Cook just won off 2 and Bewley would have had better chance off 4 and not sucked in.2 points

Abi seems a lovely person but she would be far better suited to kids tv, what’s with all the giggling?2 points

Doesn't help when reserves aren't much good, outscored 11-4 and don't Mulford to score in heat 14. That area of the team is where we are weak as hell and exposed every meeting.2 points

Very much agree, a Rising Star or a nominated numer 8 should be having a minimum of three 'rides'.2 points

Could have been a 5-1 there if Zagar had looked after his partner. Jeppeson did all the hard work too clamping Bewley down.2 points

He’s not very good on tracks that you actually have to turn on.2 points

Yes - and Thursday, 5th June is in their schedule as a tbc. BSN confirmed on their Facebook page that the meeting covered will depend on tonight's results 👍2 points

Fair play to all contributing to this thread, as nobody is bothered about a thread relating to the actual meeting.😂🙌2 points

Agree,I you analyse Sat ,he passed somebody in each of his heats to Top the scorers. The rest bar Freddie if they didn’t gate they were poor and just hoped to get 6-7 points to make the Semi,s and take their chance.Zmarzlik is a complete Professional.2 points

I don't follow either of these teams but if you don't do Facebook then where are you going to hear about it, there was no preview on the British speedway website when I posted earlier they just cobbled something together late on, no wonder the sports dying a death, national league was a decent standard a few years ago, now little more than a glorified training session, and they still expect people to pay for it, no wonder people are walking away.2 points

What we have is the best it can be Dean,... Far too many opportunities have been missed... As has been said, many times, if you went on Dragons Den with the UK's operating model and business plan, it would be laughed out of the room... Not enough employees to open your doors? Then borrow them from your competitors, and let them use yours... Employees cannot work certain nights? Then change your opening hours to suit them, don't worry that your customers may not be able to attend on those nights but would be happy to visit you on other nights in greater numbers... Employees wanting to only work six months of the year? Then make sure you charge your customers a pretty penny to be able to pay them enough so they get six months off. However. Even by charging your customers "top doller" for 15 mins entertainment, you still wont earn twelve months money by only opening six months of the year, but don't worry, because your competitor's are doing exactly the same thing... The race to the bottom is almost over for UK Speedway. Covid should have been the reset button, with new and radical ideas, but instead we had the "same old, same old" with the result being the "same old, same old" ever dwindling fan numbers and interest.. Let's see what radical ideas they come up with now Birmingham will be gone,? A "purple helmet" may be possibly quite appropriate...? F'naaar, F'naaar... Edit. Just realised the promotional and marketing plan hasn't been mentioned... "Bring a Friend" should be ground breaking enough, (but obviously don't tell them how much it is to get in till they are there)...2 points

Maybe Zmarzlik is just so far ahead of the rest? If you removed him then I'm sure Lindgren/Holder/Bewley/Lambert/etc. would share world titles between them, just like previous generations had multiple riders pushing each other. I'd enjoy watching Zmarzlik against the top 5/8 from 20 years ago, too, in fairness. I think he'd be very competitive. Laguta had 4 seasons to beat Zmarzlik btw, and managed it once. I don't think he was a genuine long-term challenger, he just had the season of his life. Like Chris Holder did in 2012. You can't take it away from him, but he won't go down as a true great, I also don't think he'd have won another.2 points

Problem is it's tough to recognise sarcasm etc when written down. Banter is confusing if there's not a smiley face 🤭2 points

Why Bomber will know more than anyone the issues it wont make a blind bit off difference.2 points

Yes leaving Sheffield and joining a bottom of the table outfit can't be easy but he deserved his success tonight he scored some good valuable points as well - definitely key in the win!1 point

If witches can keep this to 6 then job done with Emil and Ellis being off form Doyle and Thompsons replacements score 7 between them and Lynn pull a fast one by Boughen withdrawing Lynn win and can only beat what’s in front of them1 point
-
Everyone laughed at me when I suggested a reserve loophole 🤫 Maybe someone at King's Lynn does read this forum 🤣1 point
-
Surely heat 12 has to be 3 riders only? Boughen would normally have to have 3 rides so should only be able to be replaced in 1 of his 2 remaining rides Should not be able to gain from an injury.....1 point

What has the ipswich team got to do with Birmingham vs Belle Vue1 point

Not being harsh but if Bomber Harris cant get Ashton's head in the game then nobody will.1 point

Agree, Birmingham to win is also tempting @ 2/1. I'm not going to back either though as I've been burnt a couple of times this season when backing Birmingham.1 point

In speedway its ok to make/bend the rules to accommodate most situations. I mean, how on earth have B'ham got an extension for MJJ, when the powers that be knew he had only signed till the end of May ? Is it because he's No.1 in the averages ??? 😀😀😀1 point

I’ll be absolutely staggered if Brennan, King and Ellis only muster 17 between the three of them. Lynn is one of their better away tracks.1 point

A couple of thoughts from Cami Brown's match report on Tigers FB page “I knew it would be tough tonight. Victor Palovaara at reserve is ridiculous, let’s be honest. He’s not a reserve, he’s miles better than that." Firstly why is Palovaara at reserve rediculous? Edinburgh were clever enough to build a team where he started at reserve. Remember when Glasgow signed Tarasenko on a 5.00 Champ ave, despite him also being on a 5.00 Prem ave which was about to go up to 6.45 (meaning a converted 9.5+ Champ ave) did Cami say that was ridiculous at the time? Glasgow just used the rules, which were available to all the clubs, just like Edinburgh have done this year. Secondly, no mention of Boughen not competing 3 rides. If he was ill, you'd think Glasgow would announce they are putting in a complaint that he wasn't signed off, not allowing a reserve to come in. If he just didn't fancy it, should Glasgow not say they are dissapointed with what happened & are dealing with it behind closed doors? Do Glasgow not owe it to their fans who paid to watch / for the stream for some honesty about the situation?1 point

The bigger question is do we put far too much pressure on our young riders. a sensational debut season in the NDL doesn’t necessarily equate to a international career. Drew kemp for example was dynamite for mildenhall. Got called up in the championship for Ipswich and scored 14 at Scunthorpe on his debut and everybody’s expectations sky rocketed. big moves to big clubs with big pressure didn’t work particularly well but now he is settled and allowed to progress at his own pace he has blossomed. Ashton was fast tracked to team GB and maybe that was too early ? I just hope will cairns and cooper rushton are allowed to progress in their own time without the pressure.1 point
