In most cases like this it is perceived to be an admission of guilt in some people’s eyes. Personally I cannot see Nick returning that ship has sailed and probably for the best.4 points

Even if the new signing decides he is Australian & not British, Edinburgh are still doing more for British riders development than any club who didn't enter the NL/NT. Plus last year they held a NDL series individual when they didn't have to.3 points

I tell you what, they're certainly coming on strong though, there's no doubt about that.3 points

The question should be asked why do we persist on fixtures every year on GP quali day in Germany.3 points

A sensible choice... These riders never know from one year to the next what team changes will come in over here, and take them out of a job... Always best to look after No1... And, let's be honest, he isn't missing much is he? Edit: Apart from obviously having the chance to have a good laugh and a joke in the pits with Ryan, Sam and Max...3 points

Another great Sunday evening meeting from Poland.. I almost feel some sympathy for the UK promoters having to follow on, on a Monday... Great stadia, big enthusiastic crowds, a sizeable away following, truly top level riders in almost every heat. (With all belng contracted to both teams on show), and professional looking managers and mechanics dressed in club merchandise... With most races contested by at least two riders, with the third often not too far behind given at lesst three riders in most races are of a "very good level".. Add in a very good junior and it can be all four in contention to possibly still change their individual positions as they enter bend three, lap four in lots of races... A lot of boxes ticked for the viewers, fans in the stadium, sponsors and advertisers.. Not quite the same amount of boxes ticked too often, sadly, on a Monday evening on TNT..3 points

Funny.... where did you hear Rushen was a done deal? A few murmurs at Leicester tonight that he's quite keen on one of your main rivals.2 points

None of the GP's this season have, they've all been garbage. Hopefully this weekend will put that right.2 points

So we are supposed to enthuse about the meeting then?2 points

The normal whingers and whingeing more than normal tonight.2 points

Cant believe riders are having a laugh together..never seen that before.. wait a minute it happened in a Polish match at weekend. Honest the stuff people put on here to try to put boot in..2 points

What an absolute awful advert for speedway, terrible track.2 points

I think the problem for Sheffield is that they are not firing themselves to the front.2 points

Another terrible advert for the sport, tv is certainly doing speedway no favours if the powers that be think this type of exposure will see gates increase, sadly the sport has had its day in the UK.2 points

Chris and Max having a good laugh together there... Just like they would in Poland... Steady and Sam Masters the same before heat one... The UK version if the sport is just a mechanic for the riders to earn money isn't it?2 points

Seems they're going to be disappointed. It's going to rain at Belle Vue tonight and overnight. It stops about 6am Tuesday morning and then no rain until we're beyond the other side of the G.P.s2 points

But there isn't more than 7 world class riders in the series this year is there? Politics stopped two of the best being entered or even giving them a chance to qualify. People need to realise SGP isn't the best of the best, its about trying to accommodate and be inclusive of all riders for various nationalities to make it appealing to BS countries who don't have the calibre of riders to warrant being in the SGP. I pay money to 'try' and watch the best beat the best. SGP isn't that... Poland's club meetings have better races than the Grand Prix so that tells you everything you need to know about the Grand Prix. It's basically a European tour of Speedway with a few of the best riders in the world.2 points

Whoever finishes 8th in the GPs is going to be an incredibly good rider, just because someone doesn't finish in the top 7, doesn't mean they shouldn't bother entering. There are more than 7 world class riders in the series, so there will always be brilliant riders who don't finish in the seeded spot for 2026 and that's before you even consider injuries. Why is trying to get another way in unfair? If GP riders & non GP riders enter the qualifiers to ensure the best make next year's series, what's unfair about that? If non GP riders can't get into the GPs because they lose to GP riders in the qualifiers, then that means they're not good enough for the gaps right? For clubs like Sheffield who want to sign international superstars, it comes with the knowledge they may miss meetings when racing elsewhere, not great for fans of British Speedway, but that's just the way it is now.2 points

Thursday 17th July new date for this Semi final. I assume they’ve received Dan’s weekend scan results…😁2 points

Hope Luke Becker recovers asap and my best wishes go out to him but another bad crash/injury in the Polish Leagues. Big fast tracks, lots of pressure to do well and quite probably, some riders trying too hard and over riding.2 points

Agree, poor crowd compared to a Polish league match and the racing is not at the same level. This not a good advert for speedway which in this country is in its knees.and probably should be kept under wraps until those in charge Learn how to put on a decent form of entertainment. Stop the riders dictating how many aspects of the sport are run and get on with entertaining the paying punter.1 point

He must have impressed with his 3 points in the junior meeting at Poole last week. No idea why Jody Scott isn’t riding. Was looking forward to this meeting, not so much now. With a full team I felt we could push Poole close, much more difficult if we are short handed.1 point

Not many British youngsters left in the sport now Steve, and this is just one of the many reasons.1 point

You are concentrating so much that literally anything can trigger you flinching, whenever I was gate 2 or 3 I would always look forward at the tapes rather than across the guy off 1 or 4, it’s strange but even if you off 1 looking at the magnet and someone off 2 jumps it can still make you jump, you can’t see them as you looking other way but it’s like you can sense a movement, that moment between green light and tapes going up is so intense1 point

Jeez yeah Jordy Nelson was a wide receiver for the Green Bay packers a few years ago, god knows how that was in my head, thankfully wasn’t me writing the release haha1 point

On the few occasions we have been ive been on just park and paid to park in the Asda car park.. its a free car park but unsure if you would be fined without the just park payment ? it was only about a fiver so not worth the risk im guessing1 point

7 of the current 15 SGP riders are riding in the qualifiers over this weekend. Do you feel the same about all of them, or just hating on Holder ? Bearing in mind the injuries to Doyle both last year and this year, Woffinden last year, and even Holder in 2023, it is easy to see how any rider can miss out on a top 7 finish even if they are good enough. Is it really that wrong for them to hedge their bets just in case that season ending injury is just around the corner ?1 point

Reassessing the average of a rider returning from a ban would be the most British speedway ruling ever.1 point

That is always a difficult measurement... As, what we have today, week in week out, is pretty much down to the "hard core" who, basically, will turn up regularly to watch "anything" served up.. A section of the crowds these days being "die hard club fans", and the other being "generic speedway fans".. Both sections just want to watch "some speedway" with one section judging their enjoyment of the night due to the result, and the other, judging their night on the racing.. The more difficut to quantify measurement is his how many are not there from the numbers of say 20 years ago?...1 point

You use the words "glorified amateur racing" may i suggest glorified professional racing be used to describe what we have for paid racing in the UK, what we have for Teams now are little better than have bike will ride, as for NORA yes it is amateur but it is what those areas will support without paying out exorbitant money to the bike for hire guys, who are basically being bank rolled by so called promoters that seem to be happy propping up the sport and which simply cannot continue for much longer, as we all get older the crowds get less and less until something will have to be done along the lines of NORA.1 point
