  7. Fans complain when riders seem to choose to give meetings a miss over here, however.. Promoters, actually plan meetings in knowing that sometimes exactly the same riders will be elsewhere on that night... The message they give therefore, is that it is obviously acceptable to UK Speedway for you to miss meetings and your presence isn't fundamentally important... Which also then, obviously gives the events themselves the same lack of fundamental importance in the opinions of so many... You cannot blame riders for deciding to stay aligned to their biggest paymaster when the UK version of the sport is ran the way it is...

  16. He did. What actually happened was: tried his 2nd engine at Glasgow which had been good previously, but after first heat it wasn't good, so swapped to 2nd bike with his usual Workington engine. After his 3rd ride that engine blew up immediately after the race snapping its camchain. Back onto first bike for heat 13 with some big changes and managed to get a win whilst feeling slow. For Workington, now only had one bike so borrowed an engine from Jacob Hook ( as his workshop is in Workington) that was "strong" so that he had 2 bikes (the alternative was a 20 hr round trip to home to collect a spare engine, but only had 19 hrs before the next meeting). Tried Hooky's engine in the first 2 heats but struggled to get out of the starts with it ( heavier flywheels than normal may have been the difference? but jumped back onto the underperforming engine again for the last 2 rides and made some radical changes again and managed to win heat 13 again with a massive cutback off the first turn and a defensive ride. Was out after the meeting on that same underperforming engine trying some other radical changes to see if they helped it to perform better. So a frustrating weekend some high points, some low points and no doubt a big bill to come too. Hope that explains what happened

  19. I'm not so forgiving, he was well enough to take 6 rides in his first meeting back, it's just the same as the rest, this is the new normal now, when riders came back from injury before, they came back everywhere, not just Poland... I'm idioting sick of it!

  28. he baffles me you could write a book about his mistakes he should have used Kurtz last week in heat 5 as a tac sub for Lidsey's R/R because Kurtz couldn't take a R/R ride !!

  32. Oxford have no chance now. They will have to beat Glasgow away, otherwise 18 points (what Edinburgh already have) is the maximum they can get.

  33. It's very fortunate for Leicester, that Becker can use his Polish club as a way to make his return to riding, and they will also take responsibility for any additional rehabilitation needs arising therefrom. Leicester therefore have protection from any adverse consequences, whilst this remains the case. Back in days of yore, it would be a run-out in the second half of a meeting, and if he could complete 4 laps, back in the team, often with bad consequences

  36. I’d bring Jenkins back ASAP and let him be part of the team, IMO it will only feel right to finish the league how we started it and as must as we win together we also lose together as a team.

  38. There should be no real surprise that he suffered a negative reaction physically to his first meeting back Consider that after the plates/posts and screws had been put in place to repair and hold his neck back together, his muscles & ligaments had completely siezed requiring massive amounts of very uncomfortable physio in order to regain a reasonable of movement. Now we know Polish speedway tracks are large and smooth and some claim, much easier to ride that the tight technical tracks of the UK. But in reality, riding around polish tracks at 60+ mph with the weight of an helmet and the bumps and turns involved will have put some considerable strain on Beckers recovering neck - hence more physio to try and get the movement back into the injured area. Also worth noting that although he won his first two races he failed to do likewise in any of the other four rides.

  39. Jack Holder didn't get a ban when he missed a match due to a family illness. Seems like if his wife or kids had to go to hospital no ban, but if a rider was unwell & had to go to hospital gets a 7 day suspension. Doesn't make sense.

  40. 52-38... The Aces top three scoring around 30 off 15 rides... Plenty of very fast riding up near the safety fence with riders following around ten yards behind the one in front of them...

  45. Were they the 3 to go out and practice? I was just saying during the meeting that Batch could return to a top heat leader if only he got out and practiced more. Good on him. I know he's not everyone's cuppa tea but I like him and want him to do well this season

  46. When I spoke to him outside of Foxhall a few weeks back he said he wants to be back in it but for now it’s just not his time, and when my partner laughed and said Zmarzlik needs someone to push him he replied ā€œlet him have this momentā€ (in polish with my partner) šŸ˜‚

  47. Everything that is wrong with this forum is on this thread. Plymouth win and beat a very good Poole side and all people can do is moan about the number one not being there or something else. you could argue that Lewis Kerr could have easily got up off the track when Plymouth on a 5-1, could argue then in the reruns that cairns didn’t allow any room for Spencer. Nicholls was on a 5-1 and bike gave up, Bowtell was trying just a bit to hard was on a 5-1 and slide off in heat 8. Lawson was his usual great self around the arena and set the track record in heat 1 apart from that it was pretty much nothingness from the rest of the pirates. To be fair i thought Tobias tried hard but the rest were poor which is unlike them normally but seems the norm of late, they will need to improve lots to win the play offs. I don’t think they can make any changes but it wouldn’t surprise me if they did. Plymouth are currently on a roll and the feel good factor around the place is evident with the crowd that are coming and the buzz that is on social media on Facebook etc. Think people just like sniping at Plymouth for the sake off it and it seems to have the opposite effect on what these people want.
