Unfortunately today’s clubs are made up of individual riders who have little concept of team representation but ride simply to make a living from whoever opens the wallet and squanders cash on some mercenary gate and go merchants. Speedway in the UK should stop pretending to be a team sport, it made up of individuals seeking a living and it will never go back to the halcyon days of a team sport. Birmingham played its part but alas it got swallowed up in the shambles that is today portrayed a league of teams which is a joke. Birmingham and its backers gave it the best they could but were never going to be a success in the contrived farce that is league racing in this country. Birmingham, hold your head up as a contributor, you did make a difference.

Agree. Unfortunately not a winning night for the Brummies and a sad night for UK speedway. Where does it go from here, who knows but Birmingham, thank you for your contribution to speedway in the UK over the years and the memories with the likes of Arthur Browning etc and many a good meeting at Rayleigh pre 73. Let’s hope someone somewhere can revive the sport in the Midlands.

Great advert for speedway that today. Massive Crowd, great atmosphere great Home win, some fantastic racing, great weather. I thought the track prep and the work they did during in the meeting to keep the dust down was top class, they also managed the time between races really well. Even the queues for food and drink moved quickly today. The presentation of the meeting was first class, the big screen now with audio really adds to the show. Belle Vue would made some good well deserved money today and sent the crowd home very happy. A great day all round.

Speedway peaked a long time before 2000. The decline started way before that.

Personally let the so call Premiership get on with it .The Championship will survive in it’s present form. Haven't a clue how the Premiership get out of their situation .

A pleasure as in free points every year? They should never have been allowed into the PL, special dispensation to ride Monday in CL was the common sense solution for Brum

If you didn't enjoy today's meeting id give up if I was you. Roadworks why even mention it, nothing to do with the Aces and they Tweeted about it ahead of the meeting. Yes you can't pay on back straight with cash but you can very quickly use the app to buy a ticket on your phone, which I know they consistently tell people. I got in after 11:30 and got a program, there was still a few left after start time as was announced. I also got hot food at 11:55 and they had everything left but pies. As for the track this is where you really are talking absolute nonsense, it was in superb nick and produced good racing on a very very hot day. As for the toilets yes it's not great there was no water but that was due to a burst pipe, these things happen. Stop moaning.

Decent meeting, great result. A result we would be very happy with in play offs. in front of a huge crowd to. Probably the biggest none play off/ craven crowd I’ve seen for a long time.

Great team riding from Bewley to help Tate! I love how Belle Vue have all details, heat number and lap number and the 2 min countdown plus the riders live split. Just a couple heats early on they missed some action with not the correct camera angle but all in all this for me (BVTV) is better than BSN and TNT. I appreciate more info on screen whilst watching but just my preference.

Delivering newspapers as a kid a sliding round pavement corners whilst braking and singing there was only one michael lee. My dad wasn't best pleased when I wore my tyre out! And those bank holidays double headers, 11am at Saddlebow Road then all pile down to foxhall for the return in the afternoon. Happy days...

A huge shame that the Brummies have gone out with such a whimper. A complete disgrace from Musielak tonight who retired in three of his five rides. Also a disgrace from him & Zagar not to come out with the rest of the team to applaud and say goodbye to the fans. Wank3rs.

That makes absolutely no sense. If it was top team wins the title without the play offs, it would STILL be a meaningless fixture! In fact, there would have been several meaningless fixtures an awful lot sooner if it wasn’t for the play offs. There was a kings Lynn fan still not giving up hope of qualifying as soon as a fortnight ago. They would have had to have given up the dream literally months ago if it was simply top team wins the title.

This will be our last meeting of the ways. I could write 10,000 words but may be just a few are far more relevant for me. Like many I have grown weary. I am sad of watching you exist. A DNR sticker is the best recourse. Like a parent, a relative, a loyal pet, a great friend, it breaks my heart to see you in pain, living a sad existance. Not alive but existing. I will shed a tear but i will be thankful that the pain is over and I can remember all the great days and not the bad days! Stay safe my friend . May be we meet one day again, at that perfect Oval up in heaven!

Glasgow are not moving into the Premiership,there will only be one League next year. Birmingham gone, and rumours are Oxford as well,but which division.(Prem or Champ)

I wouldn't think Oxford riders are owed money. If they were Janowski's Polish team would not let him travel.

I think what I said was that I hoped to get to Workington at some point in the future. I certainly did NOT say I get my fix at Workington. But feel free to put up the post where I say I go to Workington. I doubt very much you will find it though 'cos I never said it. My "observations" are not all negative about Berwick. Re-read my previous post where I praise previous and the current promotions. The only thing you are correct about is I go to Redcar by choice. That's my personal choice. And when I get the chance, I will head across to the West Coast to go to a Workington meeting.

I saw many meetings at Workington at Derwent Park, but it was my first meeting at Northside. How difficult is it to understand that???

Should get these rules out of the rulebook then... or enforce them, rules shouldn't be optional from either side, that's a very big problem with Speedway and it's not getting any better.

According to this forum, Tungate had walked from the club...and that Oxford riders were owed large sums of monies. Guess time will tell if there is any foundation to them.

Enjoyed the meeting today and they did well to keep the dust down (except for heat 15). Track is usually excellent at BV so no surprise they always do a good job. Looked a good healthy crowd and unlike other events they seem to handle it well. The only minor point is the PA was barely audible except for when they went over to the Bvtv feed. Overall a good advert for those who were there for the first time/first time in a while which there was plenty of.

Difficult to disagree with any of that. Let’s have the same system in the Gp’s as well. If Kurtz end up top of the pile after Vojens, I’m afraid he isn’t world speedway “champion”! The top eight simply then enter two semi’s and then the final, to see who becomes world speedway champion in a winner takes all final..

Well here we are barely at the end of august and the speedway season for many clubs is over ..........due to the "p.offs." Tonight's meeting Oxford College boys vs Kings Lynn stars is being billed as a "nothing fixture" just because they aren't in the "p.offs" The entire season is meaningless unless you reach the "p.offs" There really ought to be some better way of getting the TV luvvies their "TV trophy " meetings without runing the season for the majority of clubs who have not qualified for the "p.offs."

No guarantee Fraser will go as well this time around although the Tigers will be hoping he does. Personally I would like to see him do well again, he seems a dedicated young man.

They do I believe, each premier league team must be shown a certain number of times.

For anyone interested the following in Poland this morning: After the game, it was reported that Wtókniarz decided to protest Anders Thomsen's engine, on which he achieved this impressive result. In addition, the carburetter from the Vaculik motorcycle was also reported for inspection. Wtókniarz had to pay a total amount of 17 thousand zlotys for filing a protest, which, as it turned out, were thrown into the proverbial mud, because everything was fine with the Thomsen engine and Vaculik carburetter and Wtókniarz's protests were rejected. Interestingly and ironically at the same time, a large part of the deposit paid for the protest against Andersen Thomsen's engine will go to the Dane's bank account. - They checked what was with my engine. They thought I was cheating that my engine was too big. They opened it, they started checking. I thought it was even smaller. And so it was indeed. 500cc power is allowed, and I had about 495. It seems to me that no one in PGE Ekstraliga is cheating. The money stays with me. - the Dane commented on the situation

Hopefull they are to shrewd to do that unless the new top league is championship standard and division 2 is national league standard.

Yep pain for them when they racing the late meeting in Poland and have to be at Belle Vue early, won't be getting much sleep.

I raced in a Dudley-wolves trophy meeting and it was war, i think it was 93 I scored 1 point beating Scott smith,as a fan I disliked everything cradley and in particular had a disliking for Scott Smith , 7 or so years later I rode in the same team as Scott at Berwick and he is actually a great guy and we got on really well and we often talked about the wolves cradley matches, my good friend Jan staechmann nearly signed for cradley when he first came over and I joke with him that if he had I wouldn’t be his friend 😂

Or their 10 local derbies a season!

There lies Tolleys biggest mistake...his first signing should've been someone who knows how to run a speedway club....its been the blind leading the blind since he got involved!

And we all know who is to blame for that. They were quite happy in the NDL only to be forced up by the powers that be.
