  1. I went to Thursday nights meeting with my son and I would estimate the attendance at around 2,000. There were quite a few Leicester fans there but we were pleased to see a large Northampton support. The noise and enthusiasm of the home fans on gaining their first win was impressive and infectious! We were very impressed with the facilities and the general organisation at the stadium. After many years in the Speedway wilderness, I have finally found a local team that I can support. We can’t wait for the next meeting. At last, is there a chink of light for the future of our great sport🤞🤞

  2. Links for Gorzów v Lublin: https://vkvideo.ru/video-234681448_456239214 https://vk.com/video-81427162_456239789 Note: due to the late start of the Ostrów v Rybnik meeting, it may be that the first one won't start on time. The second link should, as this guy isn't streaming the Ostrów meeting, but the downside is this is Shestakov, who likes to comment in Russian as the match progresses.... There is a third VK link, SpeedwayRus, but they are also covering the Ostrów match, so I don't have a link from them for this as yet.

  4. That’s the spirit, good on yah! Judging by the negativity on this thread the pre meeting parade could consist of you and a few others being introduced to the riders!

  7. 10 years in the GPs and he never finished lower than 5th that is ridiculous consistency and astonishingly he is only 31

  8. Zmarzlik is extremely good their is no getting away from it, he is a very good at all aspects of riding, good control, balance, trapping in fact it’s hard to find fault with anything, which is why he has won 6 world titles. But it’s his consistency and the fact that he rarely gets himself into any trouble through falls or injuries, that makes him stand out, despite riding sometimes on the edge. The only riders that appear to give him some trouble are Laguta and Kurtz and Laguta was stopped by the authorities governing the sport. As some have said he has years left at the top if he wants it

  14. Kurtz passes riders on the outside, time and time again... Hence he stalked Madsen for four laps riding the dirt, inches from the fence. . Greg would have kerb crawled perfrctly to see if he could under pass him....

  17. If you knew your speedway history you would know thumping teams doesn’t necessarily mean an increase in the attendance but does mean a very large increase in your wage bill.

  21. Would agree. No can replicate Bartosz’s dive bomb passes though how he manages to get the bike turned and keep up the momentum is brilliantly executed.

  22. The problem is and always will be the consistency and that is why Zmarzlik is the best. Even when he doesn’t win he gets damage limitation. You have Dudek and Lambert performing for Torun but didn’t show up yesterday. And same for a lot of the others, even bewley who I like can disappear of any meeting. Zmarzlik is always there or there about. Last night showed me that Kurtz is really ready to bring this battle. He started OK but then had a mechanical issue but still when required in the last two races (one to get into the LCQ and the other to win it) he found what he needed and made it happen. So he is showing to me he can still make a poor start to a meeting turn around into damage limitation just like Zmarzlik.

  23. I would assume they did try to sign any suitable riders that were available but obviously unsuccessful.

  24. I think the best thing to do for now is just to ignore this sad act. It will take time but if we don't react and take the bait he will hopefully get bored and realise nobody is giving him any attention. In the event that there are no moderators to remove him I don't know what else we can do.

  25. Tim I seriously doubt that the vast majority (me included) haven’t got a bloody clue how it all works out and it’s just bloody ridiculous when you consider they changed it from an easy formula that everyone pretty much understood to what they currently use. 20 qualifying races, 2 semis and final was used for years and it worked okay, the scoring system, 3,2,1,0 was easy and Falls, Retirements, Tapes and Disqualifications is pretty straight forward. I am not sure who does the race card spreadsheet for the referees (like Kandysoft in the UK) but apart from them, you and the odd official I bet not many, with most relying on you and them to sort it out. I would bet Tatum and the rest of the commentators are as much in the dark as 98% of the spectators. They even now go through the rigmarole of warning riders time after time who try and guess the tapes going up, again it’s bloody nonsense just disqualify them, they would soon learn to sit still and not try to anticipate the start. OK the point about a rider winning a GP getting less points than someone else could easily be avoided by just awarding the winner 25 points, with the rest getting what they earned from the heats. Yesterday was the very first time I enjoyed a Prague Grand Prix, the second half of the meeting had some very good racing, after the usual processional start and it was refreshing to see.

  26. Really it’s not difficult to understand - there are not more points in LCQ 1 than LCQ 2. Various people have explained that finishing positions after 20 heats determine everything for LCQ 1 and 2 and final. both semi’s are in theory equal as the 8 riders appearing positions add up to 26 in each. i have said for a long time that this format does mean every race counts. both 4ths in the LCQ’s get 8 and 7 GP points. The points awarded do depend on both riders finishing the race. That was why even finishing 8th Fricke finished lower than Doyle ( 10th ) both 3rd’s get 10 and 9 - Kubera(5th) got 10 Lebedevs(9th) got 9 both 2nd’s get 12 and 11- Holder (3rd) got 12 and Woryna( 7th) got 11

  27. I think that Bailey will be a great capture for some team - however, the facts do not stack up for an instant 8 - 9 point average. In SON, he scored 14 + 1 from 5 races (average 3.00 per race). People seem to be concerned about Mario not adapting to British tracks after a couple of meetings but he scored 17 + 4 from 7 rides (average 3.00 per race) - Tate Zischke 0.00, Mitch McDiarmid 2.71, Bartosz Bańbor 3.11, Nazar Parnitskyi 3.00 average. I am not suggesting that Mario is going to suddenly hit a golden patch but it would be unfair not to give him a few more meetings to settle in.

  28. I think some clubs saw it as a battle of the haves and have nots... but here we are some 30 years later in the same position only with half the tracks still running!

  31. That’s a very positive post! The sport as a whole needs people you and your son. You say you have been away from the sport but it’s still in great shape (🤭) so onwards and upwards as they say.

  32. 😎you know that!!! Belle Vue expecting a massive upturn in crowd attendance next season I heard due to Pep leaving City and people trying to find something else to be interested in 😆😂 but it could be worse! You could support Tottenham and your biggest day out is relegation avoidance 😎

  33. Don't tempt me.... Sounds amazing... Try Thai in Manchester could only dream of such a menu... Going out at 12 to enjoy some expensive beer and sunshine... I was a bit concerned that citeh are having a parade but La Pasta Bona outside the NSS will have more lining the kerb... I am having 115 on the menu, in honour of Pep.....

  39. Despite not being a fan of Jack Holder, I found it grossly unfair that Madsen (11 points) got seeded to the Final when Jack (11 pts) had beaten him in Heat 19. I could however, agree with heat times being the criteria if there had been 3 riders tied.

  40. I wish they'd replicate MotoGP/F1 to an extent and group some of the further afield ones together. Start the season with Australia & NZ and then back to Europe. Probably easier said than done admittedly.

  41. A good meeting. So, why was Madsen put through to the final instead of Holder? As someone who has become something of a casual follower of the sport, I don't know. But how on earth can you have 2 commentators, neither of whom know the rules on qualification for the final. that is seriously shocking. They really need to be doing their homework, or get someone in who has. Too often, situations arise and they quite happily admit to having no idea what is going on. Not good enough. With Bewley out, I'm struggling to retain interest this year. I really thought he was in with a shout this year, and with Zmarzlik still not 100% I think he may have gone into the lead last night. Zmarzlik, however. What can you say? The guy is well below his best so far, yet still top of the score chart. At least Kurtz looked more on the case yesterday, so could still challenge.

  43. Shame he did not teach Morris also! Might have provided the basis of a good GP year. I'm going to the Belle Vue GPs and worry more about the damage Morris can do than the high risk Manchester weather conditions.

  44. How long has it taken for him to realise that every race does not have to be run in monsoon conditions!! Generally he floods the track to almost the point of meeting abandonment every 4 heats - why? Does he think that the massive extra risks of wet track racing are what the spectators or riders want? Tonight was well over watered for the start (same water an hour or two hour earlier would have been better. However, the moderate watering every 4 races allowed the track to form racing lines. Okay, the racing line got a bit close to the fence at one point but, for 30 degree heatwave conditions. it was always going to be challenging. Let's hope that Morris has learned something from tonight.

  45. You're better finishing 3rd than 4th; 5th than 6th; 7th than 8th and 9th than 10th. It's not that difficult to understand.
