The gaps between fixtures across both leagues is an absolute disgrace during summer months.8 points

I joined in 2003. It was bunch of serious fans that debated issues with respect. We didn't always agree, but we developed our point of view without attacking the poster. I gained a lot of new friends back then, all over the UK and in OZ. We met at the British Final and Cardiff and some of them are friends to this day. I raced in Oz, twice, and met many forum friends there who I hold dear to this day. I've always been pleased to share views with other long standing fans and to learn from their experience. Not to mention having a good laugh along the way. This is a happy place for me (on the whole) and long may it be so. Thank you Phil for your foresight and inspiration, not to mention your continued support for this long standing home for British speedway debate.7 points

Blimey, a lot of witches fans really are glass half empty. They haven't lost that many this season and Lynn were due a good meeting. They said they'd had a word with all riders to improve there performance and it worked. Ipswich made starts but got passed. Tom went from first to last in heat 1. It happens and doesn't concern me at all, I'm glad to have a local team I can watch and see some good battles, there'll always be a winner and a loser, that's sport.6 points

Sounds like a Swindon swiz to me... promise a track, get the stadium knocked down then pull the rug leaving Speedway high and dry!5 points

I’m a neutral but love seeing the Scorpions proving everyone wrong, I’ve been enjoying their streams and it’s great to see the young British riders progressing. Good rides and scores again tonight for Luke Harrison, Nathan Ablitt and Ryan Ingram who some people said was the weakest 2 pointer in the league before the lad had even turned a wheel, proving again tonight how wrong people were.4 points

Track was like a typical Glasgow lady, very wet and a little rough. Track was there to be attacked. A half hour delay and the meeting would of been complete3 points

You're not wrong. And the 3 of us are still posting the odd reply. Very odd, some might say. P.S. It's Fd. It's the time of day, not a girl's name 😇2 points

No point having a strong rider at number 2, his heats are used up to quickly which means later in the meeting you will be weaker, better to have him at 4 so he rides are held back a bit for a run in, and in the meantime if that means the earlier heats you are weaker then it might mean you will be able to use a tac sub to keep it close, no meetings are won by starting strong and finishing weak.2 points

It's very reminiscent of what was done at Long Eaton as well. The 'save the stadium' campaign was strong, but obviously with speedway fans being more regionalised and stock car fans following drivers rather than locations, the speedway side was far stronger. When the developers were not making any progress, they came up with a new plan which would rotate the track through 90 degrees, freeing up land that could be developed for industrial purposes. This development would generate the funds for the new track. Of course, this was never going to happen, but unfortunately the leaders of the campaign group were speedway fans and they bought the lies. Obviously, without pit space there was never going to be any stock cars there again, so a wedge was immediately driven between the two factions as the stock car fans felt like they were being sold out. This 'new speedway track' at Brandon will have exactly the same effect on the campaign groups at Coventry if the speedway side show any signs of weakness towards it. There is no way that a new stadium could survive purely on income from speedway and the developers know this.2 points

I think Tom puts too much pressure on himself, he seems to beat himself up after a bad ride. He just needs to get back to having fun on the bike and hopefully the points will flow again2 points

Absolutely, been following speedway for over 60 years and I never saw that coming.1 point

Perhaps if we had less adverts coming at us from all directions - it might encourage a few to return.1 point

Well. Congratulations to Redcar. Everything went wrong for us and we were completely out ridden. What a difference a week makes.1 point

The crowd looked very poor, 12 kids in the kids race and at least 2 of them from Plymouth1 point

Nicholls has been embarrassing, with no King we would always have struggled but losing to Harrison and Ablitt is shocking. To be fair it was a massive mistake giving him the tactical. Tate has been our best rider along with Thompson1 point

Yet again these deluded idiots think they have a chance. What does is take to get through to them? ITS NOT VIABLE.1 point

Lucky it was on or it would be 8 weeks without speedway in Glasgow1 point

It’s almost unbelievable that club legend, hero and witches through & through asked to return but was told no and then he went on to say in the press that his new club was his number one choice whilst Ipswich remained dignified in silence about their refusal. Like I say, it’s almost unbelievable.1 point

But he did stick rather than twist when everyone knew full well that Tom needed help. Doyle offered that help but the Club/Hurry said no because they didn't want to release three riders and it would've been an easy three picks imo. From a personal point of view, I think it's the Clubs job to re-build Tom after being partly responsible for his loss of confidence.1 point

I must admit having gone through all the heats I am a bit curious as to what changes should have been made? Batch was riding well. The only one perhaps missed apart from. Lidsey in heat 13 would be heat 8 and frankly Jeppeson was unlikely to lower Dans T colours! NKI wasnt really great but not convinced he would have improved on what he got in those heats I also disagree with him being clueless at Ipswich a few weeks ago he was on it with the reserve changes etc and forced a last hear decider!1 point

Bit of a disaster but these things happen, in terms of what's needed for the league it keeps it a five horse race for the play offs - for now! Lets hope the right people are helping Tom right now - form is temporary and all that! Agree with the comments from Mike above - he's having to ride against out and out no1s each meeting and that's not helping right not but he will get there!1 point

Yep and so are most participants who ply their trade in UK speedway so nothing new. That is why the sport is a pastime that few punters care or are interested in and until it has a total revamp with people who have vision, it will continue to be a sh.t show. No regular fixtures, shared riders, no legitimate reason to win a meeting and journeymen who use UK speedway and in part the fans entrance fee to a meeting to top up the pension pot. They take few or no risks and pootle round a track and protect the revenue stream from riding in Poland but at all costs ensure no risks are taken to jeopardise the income and do the bare minimum and the punters in the UK accept the morsels on offer. That sums up most of the riders contribution to league racing in the UK and the racing on offer. Take it or leave it. The sport will never get back to its halcyon days.1 point

It's the same Planning Organisation involved (DPP Planning), so the similarity with the Swindon situation is as plain as day.1 point

We all know where the Foxes stand, Mark Lemon I understand is part of the Foxes setup? Co opted as promoter or something yet as soon as Doyle became available, did he try to get him in at Northampton? Oh no, he made sure to look after Belle Vue first. Its just like I said it will be, we need another club, not to be competitive, but to make up the numbers, same as Arena Essex circa 20041 point

Why only a proposal for a possible Speedway site. Why not build the Speedway Stadium first, then do the landscaping and play areas, finally build the homes.1 point

Doyle could be out of Krosno and replaced with Zagar due to the middle finger issue to his own fans and the arguments within the pits. Zagar has been added to the team for the weekend, currently Doyle will remain but if poor atmosphere continues it could lead to something else.1 point
