Richard let the Ipswich management know he was running late and that he would miss the track walk and asked another mechanic to fit a tyre for him as would be there for the parade but then at 6:25 rang back said he was feeling ill and had turned around to head home. They advised him to continue to the track and just get there when he could so the medic could sign him out the meeting officially I assume they could then use IRR but he wouldn’t do that so then frantic phone calls were made to get Freddy Hodder to ride who did a decent job and looked on the pace . I have it on good authority that Richard Coleman was not at all impressed with Lawsons attitude so will be interesting to see if any action is taken against him.7 points

With all due respect, most if not all, meetings this season have been run really well and have been completed by around 9.15pm and well before 9.30pm, obviously as you have not attended this season you wouldn't realise that but feel you can comment witout the facts Unfortunatly last night was later finishing due to several reasons, a couple of heavy falls, several restarted heats plus additional track grading and watering in an attempt to keep the dust down under difficult weather conditions, hot, sunny and breezy, which dried the track very quickly, personally i prefer not to be covered in dust which would have been the case if the extra watering had not taken place, even you would agree that all tjese things were beyond the control of the Kings Lynn promotion !5 points

That was one of the reasons we stopped attending absolutely no urgency to get the meeting completed 15 heats is 15 heats if it’s over hour and a half or 3 hours but on a Monday or Thursday evening keeping the meeting flowing should be top priority but sadly it isn’t - speedway in this country needs a total reset 15 heats for £25 is way to expensive for what’s on offer basically 15 minutes racing - we’ve not been to Kings Lynn since August 2021 v Peterborough have I missed it definitely not and this comes from someone who arranged his whole life around speedway especially Kings Lynn .5 points

And the nonsense of the pre season will not have helped.. I truly have never seen any business or entity commit so much Harikiri on itself as Speedway in the UK has done, particularly over the past 20 years as the digital age has boomed.. Year after year they have made poor decisions which have just compounded the poor decisions from the previous years... Normally a business would fix its issues, even more so when they are so glaring and obvious, and their customers either tell them publicly, or tell them by no longer attending, but still closely following the sport.. I truly would love to know what the promoters vision for the sport is, and where they aspire to take it... As all it currently looks like is this... "Make it to the end of this season, do exactly the same thing next, then rinse and repeat ad infinitum"...5 points

The riders of a certain level can do what they want, given there are so few of them... They hold down two positions and often are HL's in both leagues.. Meaning they are pretty much "bomb proof".. Those who say we cannot have "one big league" due to the disparate standards between the riders that would need to be used, need to imagine what the next five years or so are going to bring when all the "vastly experienced" DU's have retired... Many teams will be using current NDL lads to DU , and these lads even in five or so years, will still be well off the standard of today's HL DU's..3 points

Years ago you got held up at queues while little old ladies fumbled in their purses for small change, only getting their purses out after they had packed all of their goods, now you get held up by 30 year olds fumbling with their phone trying to find their credit card, "E" ticket, loyalty card etc, just handing over a £20 note is actually quicker , especially if you have the foresight to have the money ready !3 points

Also televised/streamed meetings tend to run for a couple of hours do they not? A three hour broadcast with half an hour each end for build up/analysis? Last night finished just after half 9. Most meetings this year have been done by 9:15, any quicker than that and personally I'd feel short changed.2 points

Sack him off now, Richard Coleman hinted they weren't happy with riders being late, missing track walks, wrong kit & missing parade truck (all done by Lawson) and he doesn't fit the team ethos they seem to be trying to install.2 points

I must have watched a different meeting .I found it dull, predominantly gate and go and drawn out. From completing 4 heats before 8 o clock to only get to heat 7 by 8.45 was dreadful2 points

If we can get all the riders to turn up it should be a good tussle over the 2 legs 👍🏻2 points

They don’t strike me as the kind of owners/management that will make changes easily. Bangs was probably an extreme case and you get the impression they didn’t really wanna drop him either. They seem to like/want to back their riders as long as possible which although could become irritating to supporters in the long term especially if certain riders aren’t performing, it’s difficult to criticise.2 points

Foxes deserved the win on their performance. One thing I will say is that they have run teams close home and away and for a side chucked together at the last minute they are very credible in their results.2 points

Not really sure what all the hysterics here are about. Riders do get ill, like the rest of us. I have no idea what Lawson's illness was, or the severity of it, but it's quite possible to be ill. Ipswich could have used a guest facility. All they need to do is produce a doctors' note within 24 hours of the meeting taking place. (But this would have resulted in Lawson being suspended for 7 days for a non-speedway illness). With it all being at such short notice it looks like it was impossible to get a guest, and the only cover they could find was Freddy Hodder (who lives 10 minutes from the Leicester track). So it made sense to not use a facility for Lawson, and use the only option available (Hodder) who fits well within the "no facility" criteria. (up to 75% of Lawson's average). That way with Ipswich not using a facility, Lawson isn't suspended.2 points

It is very clear that a stadium is the preferred option for the residents, the local authority and the would be owners for this to be a community facility that is led by it's motorsport heritage. All of those parties need to come together to enable a sustainable operation to be permitted, it is not as simple as chucking a Sunday boot sale on the car park. Overall consent needs to open the door of opportunity with the right balance of utilisation it could be a huge success.2 points

I was under the impression they helped all riders injured while riding in Britain. I’m quite sure Greg Hancock recently said they helped him they have also helped countless foreign riders as far as I’m aware.1 point

the racing in Terenzano is usually quite mediocre so I'll reserv my judgement as whether it's a bargain or not until after the race, 🤔😉1 point

Its such a shame.last weeks meeting was a cracker, it looked like the whole team wanted it,so i was kind of hoping for the same again last night.Sadly not.Mixed feelings about seeing PuK romp home in heat 15.Right result, wrong race suit1 point

There must be a concern about Lawson, because he missed a Danish match recently citing illness. If he has an illness, perhaps it's finally caught up with him? Otherwise, there could be something else outside the sport causing an issue ...1 point

I feel the same. I’ve already mentally checked out of this season. Even if we finish fourth we ain’t gonna win it so Lynn can have it if they want 😁1 point

Serious actions for Ipswich management is required. They pulled the trigger on Pedersen for PHB, so it shows they aren’t afraid to make decision. I personally feel Scotty and Lawson need to go. Don’t know if either of these can come in but Ellis and Rew would fit the witches and start to feel like we have our team back. This season is awful and feels like a bunch of individuals. After last season, and yes I know a lot of crap went on in the winter, but we lost our team. Keep king, Brennan, Edwards, and I like pedersen and certainly Tobi. But now Lawson has to be removed from this team. Scotty has been there for us throughout so this isn’t a dig at him but even he knows he cant be competitive away from Foxhall which is sad but a reality. This isn’t a retirement fund club, you want people on seats, sort this team out or risk losing more fans.1 point

Zagar couldn't replace Batchelor as that would be over the points limit, so had to bring him back for his injury replacement. With management committee "approval" Northampton could now bring Jeppesen back in for Batchelor.1 point

In a word, no. The Ben Fund is the only charity in the world to offer the type of help it does. Particularly when you consider those with long term or life changing injuries, or ex riders who perhaps decades after finishing needing treatment for an issue caused by their riding days. Poland do cover a lot of expenses, and the treatment is faster, and often better as there are surgeons who understand speedway injuries. Polish clubs spend a huge amount getting a rider back fit, but there are also examples in the past of riders being paid up front for part of their polish contracts and then having to repay that money to the clubs as they missed meetings too. The Ben Fund is more about supporting riders and families while they’re not earning though with costs of bills etc. Rather than purely paying for treatment.1 point

I agree 100%. The majority of riders back then, as well as training schools, came from the grass tracks. Nearly all our big stars of the 70s and 80s came from the grass tracks. PC, Morton, Wigg, Doncaster, Loram, Screen, the list goes on and on. As you quite rightly say, a lot of the young riders of today have not reached the standard required to ride in the 2nd div, but we are so short on riders, they are thrown in at the deep end; Scoring the odd point off each other and then getting hammered when they go out against the main body of riders, is not good for them and neither the pay in public. Over the last 15 years or so nearly all our young riders have come through, the Neil Vatcher school of speedway. Rushen and Cairns have been fantastic finds. Also, riders like Howarth, Flint and Rowe have turned out to be useful league riders and, to a lesser extent, Edwards and Kemp. Harrison, Piper and Scott are fine young riders, but international stars of the future? I don't think so. I hope they prove me wrong, because Rushen and Cairns at the moment are our future International stars. Let's hope someone might step up to join them.1 point

He will miss Ipswich Thursday. A simple way to fix this would be. If you miss due to illness you miss your next fixture for your clubs.1 point

I say this respectfully, i hope this is the case. He needs to learn a hard lesson. Hes a good rider. Imagine he took it seriously. How good would he be1 point

Good job no pilots fixture this week, as it looks like a 7 day ban for Mr Lawson, did not turn up at Leicester tonight for Ipswich, alledgally turned round due to illness 🤔 or were the bike/dope testers waiting 🤔🤔😜1 point

If clubs cannot manage to complete their fixtures in a 9-team league between the beginning of April and the end of September, there is no hope. Berwick's first scheduled home meeting was 4th April and their last scheduled reserve date is 26th September - that's 25 weeks.1 point
