  1. and the older generation claim its the younger generation that dont understand the English language!
  2. Ah Rob, you are the latest one caught out by the English language! The trophy is err...... a big spring in what looks like a piece of plywood lol. Theres a picture of it somewhere but I cant find it with a quick look. Im sure one of our edinburgh contingent will post a picture of Derek Sneddon with it later
  3. no its not. I know you like to be pedantically correct and a con is defined as "persuade (someone) to do or believe something by lying to them:" There is no lying - it is NOT a con. Its a set up that you dont like but we know before the season starts its happening so its not a con
  4. Im not saying I like it but the teams know exactly what the set up is before the league starts so its not a con
  5. I'm pretty sure that they said if the relevant person at different tracks (I dunno, maybe those in charge of the shops?) got in touch they could arrange that - maybe one of the Berwick folks could confirm?
  6. I said before the meeting that Pontus would be your trump card and even with josh's superb maximum I think he was. If you dont want him next seen Id love to see him in the stripes lol I was impressed with Anders for us - and that was with bike problems!
  7. Thats the sad thing Paul - we have got used to losing. I think I can understand without having to ask why Ht was laughing just before heat 14!
  8. I think Halifax Tiger was right what he said to me - Growl! I think I must be the only one who isnt happy when we lose. Everyone else seems to be 'oooh but what about this, what about that' I must expect too much that I dont want to see the team losing at home. Our last home win was 5th May. The last time Rye House were here we beat them by 14 points. Its a long season this year
  9. can someone wake me when its over please cos Ive fallen asleep twice already during it and Ive got paint I need to watch drying...
  10. Im not necessarily disagreeing with you elephant man but more playing a sort of devils advocate. Everyone knew it was happening even though neither club had stated it - it was Sheffield fans who were first to say it, another forum even had the name of the Sheffield rider to be dropped on it. Glasgow had to make a change - one some think they had been working on for a while, perhaps even before the 28 days but I dont know about that. Thing is, Glasgow HAD to make their change public when they did as they had a fixture coming up and had to submit their team to the oppo in accordance with the rules. So if they HADNT announced Anders, THEIR fans would have found out from elsewhere so they looked after their own fans. I think its harsh to say it was malicious - I think its been a case of two clubs not really thinking things through. Glasgow were perhaps a bit naive in not realising that could happen, Sheffield perhaps negligent (the Sheffield promotion have been in the game a lot longer after all) but I wouldnt think either meant things to happen the way they did. I fully agree it was wrong that Richard Hall found out from a source other than the Sheffield management what was happening.
  11. he was never going to be riding for Plymouth on Sunday, he was always in Poland
  12. Damn! does that mean our redeclaration to bring Freddie Lindgren in as no 1 isn't gonna get passed now? ;P
  13. Fair enough Nutz, I think I am just looking at the one issue that caused the exclusion and worry that people are trying to deflect it by pointing out Barkers past. My apologies for not fully understanding you!
  14. Nutz, can I try a different tack..... Two riders have a bit of a barney, wee bit of handbags in the pits - lets face it that happens all the time. Its a high adrenalin sport and most of the time they get it out of their system and shake hands after the meeting and are back to normal. Referees fine riders for it when they are aware of it, its part of the rules, the riders have a moan, fans dont always even know about it, its accepted, everyone moves on, no drama, part and parcel of the sport. Agreed? However if when that happens and the referee delivers the slap on the wrist, say one rider apparently loses it and cant seem to calm down and accept it. I dont see that anyone other than that rider is responsible for that action. The referee has to think of the safety of ALL of the riders on track and if he feels that a rider is so far out of control he could endanger others then he HAS to remove him from the meeting. Now this is all partly supposition as none of us were there but surely if what is widely reported is remotely near the truth then thats a fair supposition and the only person responsible for the rider getting thrown out of the meeting is the rider himself. Im not defending what Barker may or may not have done (again none of us know) but its irrelevant. The action that got Cook thrown out took place in the meeting with the referee and was down to Craig himself
  15. ah I see so its the deflection technique cos there was no defence to what I posted. how clever and amusing....
  16. but if we are willing to discuss it when we werent there its not exactly a legitimate defence to ask others if they were there is it! lol
  17. I dont know one way or the other Nutz but I interpret that differently - if as has been said he tore a heater off the wall or did any other material damage and swore vehemently and the referee in the closed doors meeting I dont see how you say thats not ungentlemanly and violent - I dont think you have to actually assault a person to be classed as violent. Sounds ungentlemanly and violent to me even though it wasnt on track, it was still within the confines of the meeting surely? Maybe Im wrong but thats just my interpretation
  18. yes it is allowed Marcelle. Obviously though it is like a restricted choice but it is allowed in a double header
  19. double headers are always difficult for promotions - they still have costs/points money to pay and you are damned if you do, damned if you dont. I cant believe I am saying this but I think SCB has it spot on
  20. Good to hear Pirate Nick, its a tough ask of the lad. We certainly seem to have at least been a bit competitive which has to be an improvement - a massive one! - on recent meetings!
