  1. Hmmm.... care to explain HOW you know his inside leg? lol
  2. ^^^ what he said plus its worth saying that Josh's attitude is superb. Right from his first day in the UK he has stood out in that respect. Probably his own harshest critic but an excellent signing for you - just won the Queensland solo title for the 3rd time as well. Big question is though - will Robbie be spannering for him?
  3. Lol I didnt know tyretrax but that was where my money was after seeing him at Ashfield just before the end of last season in the pits and in deep conversation! (Geez and they say WOMEN never forget! lol)
  4. ....not to mention pay a loan fee for using him in 2011
  5. Paul perhaps you can elaborate what the 'mistake' was? Under the rules of 2011 David rode the requisite number of meetings to become a Glasgow asset - fact. I dont see anywhere in the rules of that season (or any other in recent years) that says to be an asset you must be signed for the following year.
  6. Thanks for the reply which, despite your tone, my observations were just that - personal observations on a situation. incidentally I meant that Silver chose to put himself on a pedastal not that Shadders did it! We disagree on what is acceptable from a public persona in relation to supporters/paying customers but thats life. As for why I need to have the remotest knowledge of Rye House speedway to make a general observation on public relations (or lack of it) or where I supposedly distorted the facts, well that shall remain a mystery. I too will be critical when I feel the need, I feel his actions are wrong and I will (and have) say/said so. In doing so I assure you I am not 'looking after shadders' as you seem to have deflected the meaning of my post to imply. I am 100% sure he is more than capable of standing up for himself.
  7. Westhamboy, just out of interest would you now feel it was acceptable for Mr Silver - who has chosen to be in what is regarded a 'public' position - now puts into print an article in the newspaper slating you personally for your comments about getting the admission costs wrong and the standard of the programme and in doing so gives your full name? Is that justified? Would you not feel rather annoyed by it? other people are making the same observations but as a customer you are singled out and named - thats what happened with Shadders and surely thats the issue whether you agree with his point of view or not. When you go through the turnstyles for any sport you are not giving those who run the clubs carte blanche to name and verbally chastise you in public. When you take the reigns at any such club, or put yourself into a position of authority, directorship etc, you are putting yourself on a pedastal to be shot at, its the nature of the beast and you know that in advance and must deal with professionally. Imo Mr Silver most certainly didn't
  8. how many people you know that could turn up with 12-15 year olds in tow and a copy of the article and demand free entry? Make sure the local rags photographer is there too, I'd love to see the look on the face! I cant say I am surprised at Mr Silvers antics - disgusted but not surprised. hope they give you the right of reply - would be interested to see it even if just too see the phrase poop shute in general print lol (yeah I know you are joking there)
  9. still another meeting to go Paulco - next Sunday
  10. I'd only have demanded to know your source great news for Workington, Laura deserves to do well and I'm pleased for the Comets fans. Tyretrax, is it too early to ask for Richard Lawson do you reckon?
  11. thanks Rob, saves me typing it out! lol I'll let others decide whether its a case of fools or great minds!
  12. thanks for that although it still leaves me a little confused as did one of Birminghams riders in recent times not kop a ban because of a rain off re run abroad? I could be wrong, the whole elasticity of some rules confuses the hell out of me I also doubt if he will be back but I felt that a while ago You make a very good point, its been very obvious that hte atmosphere in the pits hasnt been great and there hasnt been leading by example. Interesting that you mention Josh at the same time though. He is one youngster who has always impressed me with his professionalism in the way he handles himself around speedway. Its the right time for Josh to move on and I really hope he gets a good number of injury free seasons now and the success he deserves He would definitely be the first name on my team sheet - closely followed by Richard Lawson but I have a feeling my Comets friends would not be too happy at that! Thanks fairplay and comments duly noted!
  13. Perhaps I had an old fashioned upbringing Ian, maybe its a generation thing - when I agree to do something I follow it through. I can see what you are saying though although I would have thought that the fares would have been cheaper a week later or in early November as some areas are on holiday this week, some next week. Im not a regular traveller though so I dont really know
  14. Jeez this humble pie tastes chugh.... Apologies tyretrax and fairplay1 for questioning your sources, I was wrong. I thought Mason had more integrity than that but that is obviously a word that means nothing to many these days. As recently as mid October, messages on facebook from Aus were talking of seeing him home 'in four weeks'. Seems one hell of a co incidence he is now going home the same time as Josh and it was a long term booking. Why would a rider, contracted to 31st October, book a flight home earlier? Can't say I am impressed and I think it is very unfair on outgoing and incoming promoters as well as fans of all the clubs involved. Moving on, on the rules side I am not sure why it is not deemed as with holding services. Riders have been hit with bans after being forced to ride (rather than actively independantly choosing) in their home country so I am a bit confused as to how the with holding services rule works. Not stirring, just curious. Can one of those in the know explain please? Ta! Apologies again tyretrax/fairplay1 - oh and thanks x-man for the phone call at 7.30 telling me where I could find loads of custard for my humble pie but tyretrax says I am not allowed it and I, at least, am a person of my word
  15. Just out of interest, who do those who are unhappy at Tommy getting the chance think Edinburgh should have gone for? bear in mind they are only allowed a NL guest, they have been vocal in recent weeks about costs, Tommy is local and has come on incredibly well in the short time he has been racing plus he rides Armadale regularly and will know it better than most NL guests they could call on? Yes there is a good chance he will score 0 but that could be down to the opposition as much as anything - after all against Dyer and Helfer the Worky reserves scored paid 9 and paid 11 at the end of July. Is there an NL rider available and willing that could really be expected to rack up the points against that pair? Much as it can stick in the craw wishing Edinburgh well , good luck Tommy, enjoy the experience, I am sure he will learn from it and hey, who knows he might surprise one or two doubters
  16. I hope if they are proved wrong you WILL name them though because they will have been guilty of pretty major mischief making which isnt fair on fans or rider If on the other hand I am wrong, am I allowed custard with my humble pie?
  17. so we have a few people who have 'heard' and suddenly its assumed right? Personally I'd be very surprised, defies logic that any fit rider would book a flight 'a while ago' for before the end of the season. Just my opinion
  18. dont mean to sound as if I am doubting you but could it perhaps be that its Josh, who is injured, who is heading back to Oz on Saturday?
  19. not only do Scunthorpe get the prize for the best meeting previews, Rob now picks up the prize for the longest subject line lol
  20. Looks like an impressive performance all round from the Scorpions lads - 10+1, 13+1, 10, 9+2 and 8+1...... every Scorpion outscoring his average on an away track renowned as being difficult/technical. That has to be impressive
  21. Tommy is a young lad who has not long started out in the sport and has impressed those who have actually seen him - you know, watched him actually ride one of those speedway bikes - especially given the short length of time he has been riding. Speaks volumes for Tommy that fans from all the northern clubs whose tracks he has ridden at have felt strongly enough to jump in to defend him. Your pathetic little attempted 'jibe' is, at best, ignorant. Some of us prefer to encourage youngsters with promise, after all they are the future of the sport and have something to offer it
  22. I knew on the Thursday night it was Luke Priest and it was also confirmed as Luke Priest in the Devils Press Release on Friday 6th July on their website. Dyer was lined up for the Berwick meeting
