cowboy cookie returns? replied to Bagpuss's topic in SGB Premiership Speedway League
But if the commentator praised the track & said how good it was then any new comer would think how bad is the sport on a poor track. Can’t blame the guy for speaking the truth, far better than the Eurosport line of a large crowd in tonight then only to pan round to see one man & his dog in attendance! -

I’d keep Riss in all honesty if Hans was the only option. was the transfer window closed on July 31st of is it still open? Seems to be some confusion. -

And Ipswich probably gets the best average attendances in the uk during the regular season. -

And the number of times he rides the wrong lines especially at home on a track where he has spent so much of his career. Also does have the habit of dropping vital points when the chips are down. the number of times we have said before the tapes go up King will mess this up & doesn’t normally disappoint. -

Personally I wouldn’t have King in there far to frustrating & goes missing when you need him in key heats -

So if the league structure in 2024 allows & the finances allow how about a side based around Emil Doyle Rew Terasanko just need Terasanko to miss a couple of Peterborough meetings to keep his 5.00 average & Doyle to have another couple of off nights. Doyle as skipper no Danny, however if Riss carries on his current form would you take a punt on him on a sun 5 average? -

If the league set up allows I think there is a good chance he’ll be back, certainly appears to be enjoying it. -

Did I read somewhere that in a recent podcast Louis did he said Emil had asked about returning next year? If that’s true that’s one piece of good news -

The 16 Lapper a great event. It was the catalyst to the superb 98 season when a certain Mr Gollob rode Foxhall for the first time. Also gave me a chance to see my hero the cowboy a couple more times long after his days as a Witch. -

No idea to be honest but it’s a shame. I suspect different reasons to those why Rowe & Kemp weren’t used as the rising star. -

Trouble is he goes missing at key times like last night, and rides lines at Foxhall that are clearly not working. -

The decision to go with the two weakest options to replace Jack Thomas is unforgivable & really should have some explanation as to why those choices were made. It was always going to be a tough first year for Rew although this week he has looked a better rider. Definitely worth keeping & must be in the team next year. He is the type of rider we need young & hungry. King well my own personal opinion he should have been no where near Ipswich in 23. Far to inconsistent & given the amount of time spent at Foxhall his inability to ride it at times in amazing. Time & time again rides the wrong lines that clearly aren’t working & is beaten/passed by riders who he should be showing a clean pair of heels to at home. Riss has been unfortunate with the illness that has struck him, however he should have been replaced by now as clearly isn’t up to it & isn't fit. Hume is a great little rider gives it 100% & gets stuck in unlike some. He has had way to much pressure put on his shoulders because of the Thompson & Riss scenario. Emil & Jason what can you say…….pure class pure entertainment. I’d love to see both or at least one back again next year although let’s be honest the state of the league may dictate that doesn’t happen. -

I don’t think so, the teams that Louis has put together have in the main been good but we have been unlucky with injuries over the years. Only 2021 was a poor year. And don’t forget that Louis also runs a club that doesn’t have the financial issues that seem to blight many these days. Hawkins is also a promoter so he isn’t going anywhere but his position as team manager must be looked at. id like to see Mark Loram involved in the set up helping bring on the youngsters although he’d make a good manager if he could fit it around his business commitments. -

I have some sympathy with Louis. The pre season loss of Thomas was massive & the illness issues Riss has had has been a blow. Both those guys fully fit in the team then I think we’re looking at a completely different scenario. however to get the replacement of Thomas wrong twice is unforgivable & Riss should have been permanently replaced with someone other than Barker. what’s left for this season? Either bring in two riders & go for broke trying to make the play off of bring in a couple for with a view to next season & get Doyle’s average down a bit. as for next year I really hope Emil stays on board, Emil, doyle on a lower average & Rew for next year. the rest requires a clear out…….although the make up of the league (s) will have a big impact on what comes next. up the witches -
