  1. Unlucky heat 15, when on a 5-1 Ben Barker sheds a chain and is spat off the bike gifting Brummies a draw. Curse of the number 1 position continues for us. It was obvious to one and all Jason would take loads of points from this meeting to show Rob the error of his ways. Bright note was young Ryan Kinsley showing his gating skills and his liking for riding the fence.
  2. Light shower over the track now, but blue sky right behind it, so perfect speedway track
  3. Only 30% chance of rain ,that's pretty good odds on it being fine. Get some water down Rob and get an outside line to work to give us a fair chance of a win.
  4. Danny Ayres heroics in heat 19 of British Championship can be seen on sports page on Scunthorpe Live site. An awesome ride!!!
  5. Josh Auty now in British final replacing Robert Lambert. Good luck to Simon and Danny too for tonight's big event
  6. Fair play to the Tigers your heat leaders did what was expected. For us, Danny had his only poor meeting since joining and I am sure he will be totally gutted, as he wears his heart on his sleeve somewhat. Rambo should have had more points with his experience and Ryan is on a too long a lean spell-another victim of young lads making the big jump up a league and struggling. The biggest shocker was the track again. No outside line is a massive hindrance, with our boys searching for dirt that was just not there and going backwards. For a track that had supposedly 1000s of gallons taken off it yesterday, it seemed totally devoid of moisture, with dust flying everywhere from heat 2 onwards. For people saying what a great meeting it was, well perhaps the regular fans have been spoilt and most saying the racing was not so good this week. Josh, Stefan Jake and Ben battled hard but they like riding the fence and we did not prepare the track for home advantage. We can only hope lessons are learnt. Last complaint , How long do we have to endure crap public address system ? Can someone teach Roger to work the P.A system in the bar too!!!
  7. My spy in city centre says not raining and just cloudy, but hey ho, just go up the M18 for a speedway fix at Scunny.
  8. For travelling fans, current weather is cloudy, but dry, light breeze and 16 degrees. Supposed to stay similar all day.
  9. Jason is a good entertainer off track too, we will miss him in the after meeting clubhouse get togethers. You might need a bleep machine to edit some of his comments though.
  10. The official Scorpion word is deafening! Think the supporters will be split 50/50 on letting Jason go and keeping Ben. Cannot knock Ben, he has not had a bad meeting home or away, so Rob and co must have suspected Jason's full recovery for their decision?
  11. Lets wait and see how long the injuries are going to take for Jason and Stefan to resume. We could be forced into making team changes and Ben could be with us to the end of our season.
  12. Agree, strengthens the Lions, Doolan was impressive around the EWR last time out. Think it will be all down to which reserves are on form-hopefully ours. At this moment in time weather forecast looks dubious.
  13. Actually Redcar 0 Scunthorpe 3, but you Wucky fans can just keep boring the pants off us
  14. Yay £2 off admission, that gets me as far as the M18
  15. Never seen a track eat rear wheels! Kyle Howarth wore out his tyre, but remaining 13 riders didn't whinge . According to the Scorpions they had much more severe tyre wear at Somerset last week. Personally I would rather see a racers track than a "technical track" to be better entertained.
  16. Cannot see Stefan being fit after being knocked off whilst guesting in the Premier League again?
  17. Sheffield has nearly 8 times the population of Scunthorpe and plenty of satellite towns nearby. Scunthorpe is much more rural ,with a population much reliant on the major steel employer- whose perilous state many families worry about. Agree about the fixture list and the weather gaps are also making it a very disjointed season for us all.
  18. I understood it to be more a hand problem as well as collarbone and arm injury. Heard 5 to 6 weeks, but Jason says 3- tough men these speedway racers!
  19. Congrats Tigers we gave you that win. Just a few observations. So many heats from the gate, to watch that every week would be a right bore fest-and before you ask ,yes I have attended quite a few Sheffield matches over the seasons. The track may be the fastest in speedway but it is not the best for pure attractive racing to keep the punter's interest. Personally I hate any Tacticals and if a home side needs one they are certainly not deserving of it. Once again, for us the match was lost at reserve, something we need to address- Bailey gone and Kinsley not scoring now is a worry. As for the enigma of our Number 1, the curse of that position haunts us year after year. Whoever is at number 1 their form dips straight away. To be fair to Josh Auty it is clear his bikes were not up to par and was on his second bike for his last ride. We can lament Jake not being in heat 15 ,but in his previous ride he was well beaten and probably Danny deserved his chance. I think both clubs are in for a short season, both promising on paper but not doing it when it matters on track.
  20. Will Ben Barker fit to cover Jason's injury period???
