  1. Oh how I miss those times at Brandon. The C O never lost sight of the importance of providing the fans with the best meeting presentation he could , one of several attributes he had which made Coventry Speedway the place it was.He was always searching for ways to improve the evening out for his crowd. I recall one occassion when he was doing his usual pre meeting rider presentation he went to great lengths to explain to all that he was trialling a new " throat microphone" which allowed him to allowed him to address the crowd without the use of the traditional hand held device & that he " did hope" everyone could hear him properly . He always struck me as a very proud man who cared about the supporters & always provided VFM , I just wish there were a few more like him around the sport today.
  2. And of course as a long time supporter of the Pirates you will have an excellent understanding of how beneficial this can be to some clubs.
  3. Looking at the photos my impression is that there isn't a speedway safety fence in place at present, & when there is the lighting will be far enough back to be OK .
  4. I think you missed my point. The stadium is obviously going to continue to operate , the speedway track is still there & being well maintained from the photos I've seen ,so why shouldn't we expect an announcement regarding the Robins returning in 2022?
  5. While we wait with bated breath for an announcement from the speedway promotion confirming their return?
  6. I believe this press release contains as much truth as the one we get each year after the AGM's telling us how wonderful things are in the sport & how everyone was "on the same page".
  7. You shouldn't need to go through Willenhall. Once on the A41 go through Wednesbury & Bilston , that will take past Monmore Green & I bet you will know your way home from there.
  8. While the traffic issues continue on the M6 J10 why don't you find an alternative route? You can easily avoid the motorway by using the A34 to the Scott Arms Junction , take the A4041 to West Brom & then join the A41 to Wolverhampton, this will take you to the M54 if you need to go that far.
  9. We haven't heard anything from him for such a long time , perhaps he's searching so far away now that there is no form of communication available there.
  10. I seem to recall he did some quad bike racing too. I have memories of him crashing at Brandon & breaking his leg?
  11. Yep , just a bit more bluster from Buster, he is a little prone to it.
  12. He still has a long way to go to sink to that level ..
  13. The fact that the stadium owners have been spending money on the re-shaping of the greyhound track would suggest that they don't have any immediate plans to knock the place down for housing. That doesn't guarantee the speedway will return of course.Time will tell.
  14. You should have just emailed her on the address provided. No logging in or questions asked, just send your comments & add in your own address , job done. Your coments will count.
  15. It's something that has been prevalent at many clubs in this sport for years I'm afraid. If you continue to ask pertinent questions you will very likely get the next old chesnut "Well if you don't like it don't come".Yet they still can't understand the damage that is caused by their comments.
  16. I've just been looking a some of Jeff Davies' action shots from last night's meeting & there is one of Bomber . He is definitely using G M engines but I can't read who the tuner is I'm afraid.
  17. I was thinking something along the same lines. Although I accept that the only name over the door of Coventry Speedway at this time was that of the infamous M Horton, Neil Watson's long association as his co promoter inevitably means he will be tarred with the same brush. I would describe their time as Brandon as at best very poor , at worst abysmal, & if were in Neil Watson's position I would be keeping a very low profile not bulling myself up as someone of importance in British speedway
  18. As many as they like if Ford senior is asking.
  19. I didn't mention anything about spelling , & reading your post it seems that your grammar needs attention too.
  20. After reading this post it's understandable why you are not keen on having grammar errors highlighted.
  21. As with the majority of stuff Shovvy posts it's all about one person. Never been any different & probably never will be, the "ego" is massive. I wonder if anyone could be bothered to scratch the surface what would be found underneath
  22. Once again you show total disregard for the rules laid down by the "decision makers" who are doing this in the interests of the safety of the majority . It is just another indication of your selfishness & complete lack of concern for others, almost as bad as your rants over brexit.

  24. A great chat with the O O . i was at the Sheffield meeting ( British Scandinavian World Champ Qualifier) &recall that Ole won his first race against 3 other Scandinavian riders. He finished with 5 points that night but he made an impression with me & i followed his progress via the speedway star when he came over to UK to ride at Newcastle. When he moved to the Midlands i was able to watch him regularly. His move to Brandon was "utopia " for me & the coming together of the C O & Ole was a match made in heaven. He is,as you say very charismatic, & I remember being one of the many recipients of a wave from both him and his wife when they passed us driving down the M6 to wembley with my Ole Olsen sticker in the rear window. My two youngsters in the back were "made up" they really were the great days of speedway .
