Call me naive (somebody will I expect) but I don’t buy the Cook conspiracy theory at all. I think Buster would have been happier had Cook started the season with P’boro and if Lambert & Proctor had started this year as they finished last Lynn wouldn’t have fitted him in anyway. Buster is a businessman, teams losing at home are no good to him.

Can’t ever see it happening while stock cars are king at the AFA. It’s essentially a stock car stadium which holds occasional speedway meetings and the track and the material used on it reflects that. D

Just wondering if the numbers would allow Riss to come back in for Kerr leaving Lambert in the team for the year but a strong top six and always a high scoring reserve? Might be the plan.
-
So what are the likely moves after new averages come into force? Will there be scope to replace either Proctor or Jorgensen with Riss and bring in a stronger number seven? Presumably the team average will drop a fair bit.

EASTBOURNE V SHEFFIELD SAT 1ST ?
Bagpuss replied to gee jay's topic in SGB Championship League Speedway
A match which is on TV is a different matter but the point about away fans was a general one.....season after season we get fixtures moved and messed around for all sorts of reasons and away fans suffer. It’s not just the hotel thing, but making plans, booking time off work, arranging other commitments and hobbies around these fixtures etc etc. People will eventually get brassed off and not bother. Maybe there just aren’t enough travelling fans any more for it to matter. Just to reiterate I don’t disagree with what Eastbourne have done here but it’s a sad reflection of how far down the pecking order British Speedway is nowadays. -
EASTBOURNE V SHEFFIELD SAT 1ST ?
Bagpuss replied to gee jay's topic in SGB Championship League Speedway
Sensible and shows the knife edge that speedway is on currently....anything which might affect a normal crowd like poor weather, a big football match on TV or rider unavailability is just too much of a risk for s promotion to take. Could be the difference between running and going under. That said you have to feel for Sheffield fans who had booked their away trip. While sympathising with speedway promoters they can’t have any room to moan when away fans eventually stop bothering. -
Bellego for Riss? Nothing would surprise me this year

Does this rule still exist in the regulations? I ask because it seems List is being reintroduced at Scunthorpe. Surely the two men at the top won’t be bending the rules to suit their clubs.....
-
I suspect they would have had to wait until after next Monday’s home meeting to get Cook in had Riss not been injured.
-
Indeed, there must be more changes on the way once Riss is fit and averages change, no way he isn’t coming back in. With all due respect to Simon he is surely only a temporary signing. Good to see the club doing something about the bad start anyway.
-
Josh Pickering and Paul Starke are the two who stand out.

Not good enough that two meetings between two of the biggest clubs in the UK both have issues with the track surfaces and riders end up injured. The sport does itself no favours at all but some blinkered folk can’t see this and only care about winning or losing. Thank Christ speedway fans from other countries weren’t able to see these meetings today on the internet as we can their meetings. Holes in the tracks, delays, one team in team kevs and the other not.....talk about amateur hour.

What’s the conversion from CL to PL?

Peterborough v Kings Lynn Premiership Mon May 27th
Bagpuss replied to bigcatdiary's topic in SGB Premiership Speedway League
Indeed, have never understood the fascination with fast times and track records. It’s not drag racing, rather than grippy, one-line conditions it should be about slicker tracks with several lines and slower race times. Doesn’t matter how slow the racing is as long as there is plenty of passing. -

If there was a big crowd I’m sure he won’t have shed any tears. Cher-ching. Predictable result after P’boro’s changes and before ours but pleased to hear the racing was good again. -
Why would Riss be replaced if he will be back on a bike before our next meeting? And why bring Simon Lambert in to replace Andersen if there are more points to play with and better riders available?
-
I think only MPT, Riss and Lambert could justifiably complain about being replaced, the other four have not been good enough often enough. Think we’ll see a couple of changes but three or even four wouldn’t be unwelcome for many people.

Not quite sure what standard of rider people think would be on display if more clubs rode on Saturdays.
