Poole Pirates Vs Kings Lynn Stars 13/06/18
Bagpuss replied to Shaleshifter's topic in SGB Premiership Speedway League
One man team tonight. Even with the missing riders who would have kept things much closer that's a disappointing scoreline. -

Indeed. Pick that team and say goodbye to the play offs. Or stomach the absences and stand a reasonable chance of finishing top four. -

They have if they thought they could get away with fibbing and hoodwinking fans but in this particular instance I can't see the value in that or what they can get away with. They have obviously negotiated with MPT's Danish club and its not gone their way at the last minute. -

Maybe he was released and then recalled all since before the weekend? It depends if you trust what the promotion say, personally I do but I can understand why some people don't. If he was never going to ride I don't see why the club didn't declare a guest in the first place, they had nothing to gain by telling fibs for the last five days. -

If you read the press release it says that Lynn were assured that MPT wasn't required in Denmark and then he was recalled at the last minute, no reason to disbelieve that. Good to hear that Iversen, Jorgensen and Andersen have no clashes left but one wonders if they can be recalled at the eleventh hour too. -

Another scoreline which won't do the league any good. -

Can't agree with that, it's about getting both team members over the finish line before the opponent's two riders, as it should be. If a rider dashes off into the distance every time with no regard for his teammate a la Milik that's not pairs/team speedway. -

We need a strong guest for Palm Toft otherwise we are going to get marmalised at reserve. -

Agree about MJJ, he was excellent over the two nights. Quality performer when on song. While I agree that GB probably got their tactics wrong in the final, to pin it all on Woffinden is ridiculous. I'm pretty sure the whole team would have discussed it beforehand and decided on a plan which they thought would work best, ie both riders fending for themselves if separated. -

Exactly. Unless he suffers a reaction from today after the event then he'll be riding Wednesday, as stated before his treatment. -
What a childish thread. 'Your rider knocked our rider off blah blah blah'. Dear me. Are we not all grown adults?

Hope he doesn't if he's not sure to be honest, there is plenty of season left without rushing back for Wednesday evening. -

I think Robert and his family would be (and have been) the first to admit that he isn't ready for GP speedway yet. There is no doubt he will be in the near future but he has more experience to gain before then and riding in meetings like this can only benefit him. He 'only' contributed eleven points across the final but looking at the field before the first meeting in Wroclaw it was difficult to see where he was going to pick up many points considering the quality and experience of the other competitors. I think when we look at who he beat during the competition rather than who he didn't it makes us realise how well he performed and how far he has come since the end of last season. And he has only been in his twenties for a few weeks. The British Championship and World U21 both have to be his aims this year, he is capable of winning both with a bit of luck. Certainly using Tai as his role model can only benefit him, I'm sure he has learned a hell of a lot from him this week. -

Plenty of people were raising concerns over the format before the competition even started, ie when nobody thought GB had much of a chance. -

I'm sure a conversation was had between Tai and Robert before the final about what to do if one of them was last during the race. They did enough team riding throughout the tournament to be given the benefit of the doubt. Unfortunately some posters see things either in black and white with no grey at all, and others will dislike Tai whatever he does forevermore. He has been absolutely immense this week and deserves enormous credit, as do the whole team The best thing about tonight was seeing our lad's disappointment on the podium.....far better that than being pleased to be there and happy with second. The future is very, very bright. The arguments about the format and the need for a false climax are for another day. -

Robert really is coming of age this season, what a brilliant performance from him last night helped by some absolute wizardry by Tai. My only concern is setting his bike up for the inside every time is leaving him vulnerable to outside runs as we saw once or twice last night. Excellent race track once some dirt moved out, let's hope they don't compromise that in an effort to assist the below par Poles this evening. -

Really interesting piece on BBC Radio Norfolk's Speedway Show this evening about the two fitness guys involved with GB and King's Lynn. Listening to it, it all makes perfect sense and you wonder why riders and teams didn't adopt these methods years ago. Worth a listen ifs it's available on the iPlayer. -

Exactly. Unfortunately if Robert's Danish club want him to ride that's where he will have to be due to the race night priority, once clubs voted against the agreed Thursday for our top league then we have become powerless. Not Lambert's fault so of course he wouldn't receive a ban. -
Dodgy WiFi!

I agree, but the wording of the point leaves a lot to be desired. British Speedway will only move forward when both leagues pull in the same direction.

Just what speedway needs, another 'us and them' post well done.
