Poole Pirates Vs Kings Lynn Stars 12/07/17
Bagpuss replied to Shaleshifter's topic in SGB Premiership Speedway League
Lovely jubbly. But don't bet against Poole turning the tables tomorrow night. -
Yes Holder isn't the only one to have struggled at times but dress it up how you like, his average drop and poor performances at number one are the main reason for our struggles. Generally speaking when he or a guest has scored proper points we have won.
-
We are as good as anyone on paper, but have been blighted by inconsistency and poor form.
-
That's assuming no notice was taken of the Polish lad? Perhaps he was approached and the figures didn't add up.
-
Don't think average anywhere near allow unfortunately. The Pole who Leicester have just signed whose name I can't spell would have done though, a bit of a missed opportunity as he would have flown round Lynn IMO.
-
Who would you have dropped for Worrall?
-
Why on earth would the management be 'rattled' by Ayres last night?

Speedway World Cup 2017
Bagpuss replied to racers and royals's topic in Speedway Grand Prix and Speedway World Cup
That's great but it still doesn't explain the need to write him off as average at nineteen and a quarter. If he is still gating badly, not riding in Europe's very top leagues and not knocking on the GP door at 23 or 24 then that's a different matter. He's our best prospect for several years and I just don't understand why people don't get behind him, it's almost as though they want him to end up being 'average'. -
What a shame Wolves have already pocketed three points due to the stupid rule change of a couple of years ago, Rye gaining one through a 5-1 should mean they only get two.
-
Great heat 13. Can understand people preferring big tracks but it can't be denied that there has been some very good racing tonight, as there usually is at Wolves.

It is arse covering, we've seen it time and time again. Not saying you guys don't have problems but look at how inconsistent and occasionally inept we have been this season. Don't think it would come as a surprise to anyone if Poole won comfortably on Wednesday. -

Ah the good old SS arse-covering post right on queue. To be honest I wouldn't be surprised if the two meetings this week result in away wins. By the same token I wouldn't be surprised if we folded like a pack of cards on Wednesday and lost by twenty. -
Hit and miss.

Sympathise with Lakeside over this but at the same time the whole idea of the NL should be to produce youngsters for the higher levels, this could be the opening that Bowtell needs to take his career on to the next level.

It's possible to be unhappy but not moan and groan like clockwork about the same things week after week.

Speedway World Cup 2017
Bagpuss replied to racers and royals's topic in Speedway Grand Prix and Speedway World Cup
While I agree Lambert's gating is still poor and he probably hadn't progresses as quickly as most of us thought he has only been nineteen for the months, he is in only his fourth season of senior racing and had two more years in the U21s after this one do its a bit silly to write him off as average just yet. -
There were bound to be fixture clashes with Ayres already riding for two other teams and the options were fairly limited. Frustrating nonetheless.

Speedway World Cup 2017
Bagpuss replied to racers and royals's topic in Speedway Grand Prix and Speedway World Cup
I don't think the poor racing last Saturday was because of the disparity between the sides but it certainly made it a lot worse. You can't really compare Polish tracks to anything we have other than Belle Vue, they are much bigger, faster and wider offering multiple racing lines. Speedway over there really is on a different planet to the UK. -
Speedway World Cup 2017
Bagpuss replied to racers and royals's topic in Speedway Grand Prix and Speedway World Cup
Pretty much what I expected. Don't blame the riders, blame the system in the UK. We don't do enough to get our top riders experience on the continent. Doesn't help that it's too easy to earn good money in our second division. Cook and Lambert are better than they showed tonight, no point slagging them off as the effort was there if not the composure or speed. Well done Poland but all very predictable. -

Hoping everybody arrives at the AFA in one piece for the return leg the next night. -

I bet it won't be. -
While the stock cars keep bringing in hundreds of thousands of pounds a year the track will be set up to suit them and not bikes unfortunately.

Speedway World Cup 2017
Bagpuss replied to racers and royals's topic in Speedway Grand Prix and Speedway World Cup
Kings Lynn has been poor for several seasons now but there is no doubt that if you swapped the two semis round the racing would have been better Saturday and worse last night. Unfortunately the line ups magnified the deficiencies of the AFA as a race track but it did serve up a belter of a meeting last night. In terms of shape and surface Vastervik looks light years ahead of Lynn. -

Neils far too nice, had the chance to get under Lebedevs and shove him wide but shut off and lost his momentum. Well done Latvia. -
Group B possibly stronger all round but group A has got three of the four strongest pairs in it for me so possibly the tougher one to get out of.
