The Start Of The Decline
Bagpuss replied to THE DEAN MACHINE's topic in Speedway News and Discussions
I wouldn't necessarily put it down to one particular thing but the introduction of lay down engines in the mid nineties was the most significant factor since I have been watching speedway. -
Darren Mallett back at number one according to Radio Norfolk, fingers crossed for an injury free season. How many points does that leave for the final two?

Premier League Predictions 2013
Bagpuss replied to Travertine's topic in SGB Championship League Speedway
I think the top four will be Scunthorpe, Somerset, Edinburgh & Newcastle in no particular order. -
Pascal Swart - Available For Nl Team Place
Bagpuss replied to SarahLapworth's topic in National League Speedway
The lad has a British Mother, I don't see the problem. -
............and that the deal is dependent on him not riding PL too. However it seems Coventry have put a block on the move as they may need him themselves now that Barker is subject of a tug of war. Don't you just love the close season
-
Excellent to see Buxton doing what the NL says on the tin, good luck to them

Lewi Kerr signs and is the new captain http://www.kingslynnstars.co/index.php/national/young-stars-news/85-young-stars-announce-captain
-
Leicester announced a couple of weeks back that Blackbird and Kerr would be sharing their number 7 spot.
-
Fisher rumoured to be going to Coventry which would rule him out of riding for a Friday night track in the PL. I think Proctor would do well but as you say Michael he's unlikely to attain his starting figure.
-
Jacobs has signed for Coventry according to their NL thread.

Not even a few years....went from being a bit of a hero at Lynn in 2011 with a few paid double figure scores and never-say-die effort (as well as some poor scores to be fair) in the EL to hardly being able to score a point from reserve in the PL When he was released by Lynn at the beginning of the season just gone it was hinted that his attitude, fitness and machinery was all very poor and he was told to sort himself out....going by his scores for Glasgow it seems he is yet to address those issues.
-
I'm pretty sure his team went bust mid season.
-
If Cook is obsessed with £'s then why has he signed for Belle Vue?
-
As if Cook was ever going anywhere other than Edinburgh.
-
Why would Connor Coles not be lining up for Kent? He's named in their press releases as lining up for them next year due to his Rye House connections.
-
I think Jake could probably beat all of those riders round Sheffield if he hits fresh air.....trouble is if he doesn't he would finish way behind them. Whenever I've seen him at Lynn has has been very quick in front but struggles big time to pass anybody when he doesn't gate. Hopefully more regular racing at a higher level will see him develop but unfortunately I wouldn't be suprised to see him dropped before June.

Latest Update From Oak Tree Arena
Bagpuss replied to oldtimer's topic in SGB Championship League Speedway
Kurtz, Nielsen, whoever. The bottom line is that the tail have low averages, good luck to them all and I hope all three up their averages significantly but its a risk. Potentially though there is loads of improvement in that side, time will tell. -
Latest Update From Oak Tree Arena
Bagpuss replied to oldtimer's topic in SGB Championship League Speedway
Excellent top four, not sure about the bottom three. Perry and Kurtz have talent but are inexperienced, and I've never been convinced by Newman and I think he could struggle in the top five. Can't see this team dropping many points at home mind. -
Regarding Poole & North, I think its dangerous to write off any rider based on a couple of showings at one particular track. You have to consider away form and the fact that any decent rider will soon get the hang of a new home track once they have learned the set ups and had some practice. I accept that Poole might be a bit of a risk as he was a shadow of his former self after breaking his arm last season but North would be a good signing for any PL club IMO.
-
Apparently Jake Knight has signed for a PL team................
-
Fair enough. Any reason why they haven't done yet?
-
Made hard work of that today but another precious three points

Not wanting to drag up what is now water under the bridge but ask yourself why Blackbird ended up at Mildenhall after signing for Lynn last year. It worked out for him as the last two seasons have shown and life is too short for hard feelings I've no doubt that Bates and Stoneman are at Mildy for the reasons you state, the Fen Tigers did the spadework in discovering them and getting them signed up before anyone else. As you say having Louis & Lee at your club is as good a bank of experience and knowledge as can be offered at NL level. Certainly accept your point about Ritchings, and I'd not be against Lewis or any of the Young Stars having a year on a smaller circuit for the good of their career if the clubs and the rider were in agreement. I'm prepared to admit they I've probably overreacted a tad on this thread and I'm not really one for close-season bickering so I'm going to leave it at that and set off for Carrow Road. OTBC

Selective quoting there, if you did a bit more research you'd notice that I posted a 'disclaimer' before my opinions of Lynn's team, something along the lines of my views being subject to the rider and his parent club agreeing to any loans/transfers. The Hazeldene (or Tom Young) point is pretty irrelevant as the rider and their clubs seem to be happy for them to have a season developing at Lynn, and as far as I'm aware they weren't mentioned by anyone on the Young Stars 2013 thread. I don't go to NL meetings very often but when I do I don't really support a particular team, I'm just interested to see how the youngsters are developing. I know that the forum is about opinions, it just rankles when people think that with a few more £'s their club can poach good youngsters who have been discovered and developed by other teams. I'm sure you'd feel the same if other threads had people thinking they could take Josh Bates off your hands. At the end of the day Lewis is a local lad with lots of support and track time at Lynn, can't see why he would want to go anywhere else, especially with the possibility of an EL spot one day should he develop to that level. Anyway, all the best to the Fen Tigers for next season and beyond. The club has been revitalised since its reincarnation with good crowds, on track success and some excellent youngsters coming through and long may that continue.
