Mildenhall V Stoke - National League - 5/8/12
Bagpuss replied to PhilK's topic in National League Speedway
I have to agree with montie, unfortunately the NL is a stepping stone for young lads who are good enough to progress to the PL and as such the higher level should take priority when there are fixture clashes. Of course it hinders Mildy in this case but they should get satisfaction from the role they have played in developing Blackbird to his current level. -
Plus that is one incident....Mr Vissing has been lairy for several years.

Team Gb V Team Australia Test Match - 1st August 2012.
Bagpuss replied to Bomo1's topic in International World of Speedway
So Roynon for Woffy, Cook for Bridger and presumably Auty for King if he doesn't make it? Obviously best wishes to the three injured lads but good to see these three youngsters getting their chance. -
King's Lynn V Scunthorpe (nl) - Friday 27th July 2012

Just to balance it up well done to the Young Stars on their first win of the season and to the ginger one on his max -
Team Gb V Team Australia Test Match - 1st August 2012.

Not for me....Scott was dreadful in the SWC race off and its time to look to the future and blood some younger riders. -
Team Gb V Team Australia Test Match - 1st August 2012.
Bagpuss replied to Bomo1's topic in International World of Speedway
Totally agree, for me Nicholls and Kennett shouldn't be anywhere near the GB side with all due respect to them, I'd have had Auty & Roynon in their places. Suprised Aus aren't using Morris too, maybe Lord Ford has told the team managers who to pick -

Woop woop! -
Can definitely see why he hasn't entered the U16's over here, makes more sense to race in Germany at a standard which will help him develop. Will be interesting to see whether he and his family choose to ride NL next year or carry on racing on the continent. Early signs are that he could have a massive impact on the PL in 2014, and there is sure to be a scramble for his signature.

Agree. People seem to think he should be a PL superstar because of his surname.

Lynn's dirt is fairly unique in that it has a high clay content and as a result can be very grippy.

Nathan Greaves & Robert Lambert
Bagpuss replied to cometsfan2k4's topic in Youth Speedway and Development Leagues
It appears young Lambert finished second in this meeting and took the scalps of Smolinski, Zabik, Kroner and one or two others on the way. Pretty amazing performance -

R Worrall & Howarth are getting good EL experience, would be good to see one or two others getting some top flight rides before the season is out too. -
Excellent GP, and well done to Freddie. If you had told me at Lynn on Wednesday that he would win the next weekend's GP I'd have laughed as he looked a shadow of the rider we've become accustomed to. But fair play, he found the set up he needed and fully deserved the win in the end. Holder and Pedersen looked the two stand out riders early on but neither could deliver when it came to the crunch. Hopefully the overall standings can stay as close as they are right through to the final round, would be great to go into that GP with three or four in with a shout of winning the WC.

Potters V Heathens - 2nd Leg Staffs Cup
Bagpuss replied to ChubbyChesgire's topic in National League Speedway
I'd like to think not. -
Agree with all that Chris, the only thing I had a problem with was with the idea of planning to boo a young Brit at the next meeting. Anyway, line drawn under it all for me.

World Under 21 Qualifying Rounds
Bagpuss replied to MrMungo's topic in International World of Speedway
Joe Haines was quoted in the Speedway Star the week after he'd won at Wolves that he wouldn't be doing the World Qualifiers as he couldn't afford it and the help from the British authorities was more or less non existent. Its been pretty obvious since Rob Lyon left the Team GB set up that the BSPA / SCB can't / won't invest in the future of the British team and that any future SWC or GP success is likely to be a very long way off. At least Mr Worrall gives us something to enthuse over, hopefully Middlo will have the good sense to get him and one or two others involved in the SWC pits for experience. -
Winning or losing at this level is irrelevant for me, as others have said its about seeing the lads develop

World Under 21 Qualifying Rounds
Bagpuss replied to MrMungo's topic in International World of Speedway
Amazing stuff from Richie Worrall Looking forward to seeing him on Wednesday week at Lynn. -
IF he has 'cheated' then booing him at the time in the heat of the moment is fair enough, but to plan to do it again on Tuesday is a little unnecessary and not really what the NL should be about. I think sometimes people lose sight of the fact that its a competition for young lads to develop and make their way. And if he has 'cheated' then he's not the first and certainly won't be the last, and I'm sure more than one Cradley rider has done it at some point. If you beleive what you read some Dudley fans have given their club a negative reputation since their re-incarnation and comments like those on this thread don't really help. If that is representative of the Heathen's support then perhaps the club should go up to the PL and let the NL lads develop in a more positive and helpful environment.

Booing a young man trying to make his way in the sport, great idea
-
For me winning isn't really the be all and end all for the Young Stars but I have to say that I don't agree with those who have tipped Lynn as possible NL winners. Kerr and to a lesser extent Stokes & Lowe have improvement in them but the other four IMO have reached their level and that isn't what title winning sides are based on. The side lacks a bit of spark and as a punter doesn't really motivate me to go and watch, Kerr apart. That said I wish the lads luck for the remainder of the season and hope they prove me wrong.

Stoneman looked handy when I saw him at Lynn a fortnight ago but young Josh Bates looked an even better prospect.
