  1. So Glasgow is tight into the bends but Berwick isn't? Hmmmmm.
  2. That's great and we all hope it lasts but let's see what the trend is over the whole season. Early season optimism will evaporate for many teams and as @mikebv says once guests really kick in it will make it difficult for many to take it seriously and keep going. Guests certainly put me off going, my team are likely to have two this Thursday and that takes the shine off for me personally. I wish I could switch off the part of me that cares about the integrity of British speedway and just go and watch my team and the racing regardless but I can't. I want my clubs seven riders to race for my team and not somewhere else, or be worrying about them getting injured racing in the Championship. Doubling up and guests have got ridiculously out of hand and the sport is in a mess, it needs a complete overhaul from top to bottom and fresh governance who can run it properly and rebuild it into something that patrons and sponsors can take seriously. We need lots of clubs to be well supported and financially sound, not just a few.
  3. I would beg to differ. The corners of a pitch on the inside will always dictate narrow exits and entrances unless those corners get taken up. Workington and Hull were the same. That's why riders have to shut off and almost queue up to enter the corners. If the second part of your post was true then we wouldn't get any passing at Belle Vue.
  4. Many early season predictions had Edinburgh, Berwick and Brum as the bottom three and early indications are that they are probably correct. As for the track, it seems the club have done all they can to the corners to make racing better but while the straights and entrances/exits to the bends are so narrow and there is no leeway to change it due to the football pitch then it little will change unfortunately. Berwick need at least two changes to be competitive IMO, no idea who but Etheridge and Stoneman out and two solid middle order men in would do the trick.
  5. He's a likeable chap and not his fault he is so much better than the others but when it's clear who is going to win a series then unfortunately it diminishes the appeal a fair bit. Well done Robert.
  6. Probably in 2010? https://speedwayupdates.proboards.com/thread/7329/witches-coventry-12th-august-2010
  7. This is a difficult mreting to predict really, when you consider how bad Lynn have been so far and that Doyle & Emil should go through the card without breaking sweat then Ipswich should win comfortably. However the fact that Riss is still absent, the track will be different and that Lynn are likely to have at least three track specialists in their side means you could argue that it'll be quite close. I'm probably more fearful of Thursday night than Monday! Kerr being out is a blow but Cook would be a good alternative. Both better than Pickering at the Foxhole.
  8. I think the idea that Phil Morris is going to breeze in with a magic wand is fanciful. I was actually encouraged by what I heard from him on the @RoundTheBoardsPodcast and he was choosing his words carefully at times as he couldnt say too much about certain things. He (or anybody) is going to need several years to sort the mess that is Premiership speedway out to be fair to him.
  9. Fair play, great result. Your team remind me of mine 2009-12 under Lambert, wouldn't be surprised if you are challenging up the top end of the Championship this time next year. Just hope Delia and Co can get their ducks in a row over the summer......
  10. I wasn't, the combination of the weather, the guest and the first leg score made me save my money.
  11. Neither really, just fancied Poole tonight with the two R/R's and Plymouth having made a slow start. As you said the result didn't really matter but was a bit surprised Poole didn't win.
  12. Or for anybody in the UK for that matter.
  13. Was it not? You guys have made a strong start, Plymouth haven't and both R/R's looked to be in Poole's favour. I was thinking 40-50 and I guess if Steve Worrall had scored to his average it could have been but hey ho, fair play Gladiators.
