  1. The question for me is can Sheffield and Leicester afford expensive teams without any tv revenue? We know Ippo, BV and Lynn can if they so choose
  2. It was possibly to do with a potential take over of the greyhounds at Monmore that would have potentially opened the door for speedway again at MG File it under very unlikely
  3. There was an interesting rumour a few weeks ago regarding Monmore and the owners of a current speedway club but I've not heard anything on that of late
  4. The problem with that might be if the CPO were to be legally challenged by the owners. Legal costs in dealing with that might become very substantial so they may require those to be included in any guarantee?
  5. The Championship rules probably have
  6. I agree More time to allow Futures to try and get deals done and for 5 teams to commit and who knows maybe even 6...
  7. My guess is that this is designed to allow Futures time to try and get some deals done It's hard to look past that as it stands there's not enough for 5 teams to commit let alone a 6th
  8. No totally seperate to the Oxford promotion
  9. The rumour I've heard is that one of the main influences in PL speedway wants 6 teams and is trying very hard to make it happen
  10. They weren't bar a few cameo mentions when Nigel Pearson was their football commentator and Nige was never slow to plug speedway so I wouldn't think so but certainly worth another enquiry
  11. He doesn't say but putting 2 and 2 together maybe the new rumoured team won't have their track ready and/or its cheaper to run at an existing venue No idea if there's anything in it
  12. A lease arrangement is rumoured according to Peter Oakes in the Star
  13. Not for the Northampton fans Love Peter but he's had his day
  14. Big name count Left 1 Arrived 0 I'll update as we go
  15. As Sheffield proved when trying to replace Woffinden getting better riders over appears to be virtually impossible. It may of course be different if there were plenty of money to throw at it which there clearly isn't, doubly so now there's no tv money
  16. Thanks. Add in a few lapsed Milton Keynes fans might make Northampton the best bet I think
  17. I can't see a few hundred from Wolves if I'm honest. 50 to 100 maybe at the absolute limit I understand your argument though. How far is Northampton from Coventry?
  18. It's a long way from Wolverhampton so that might not attract many (any) Wolves fans especially on a weekday night. I certainly wouldn't see the previous Wolves promotion being interested
  19. Any rights to the licence expire 3 years after closure
  20. Their statement specifically mentions the 2026 championship. Unless of course the one league is to be called the championship... If one bloke knows it should be Godfrey
  21. Presumably the championship are trying to address the issue that has now blighted the Premiership where the outcome of the league is clear before a race is run If it spreads the better riders throughout the league and stops the top 3 or 4 from signing effectively 2 number 1's then I'm in favour

  23. It'll never be any different without an independent league body running the sport and that won't happen
  24. Nothing save for Baggpuss's post on this thread on Saturday
