Who Was The Best Rider In The World In 2013?
Gavan replied to Gavan's topic in Speedway News and Discussions
he would have been higher and wouldnt have won it. A fully fit Ward was averaging around 7 when he got injured so he still wasnt as good as the others whatever way you look at it. That's not to say 2014 won't be his year but if he keeps making those poor starts when the pressure is on in the semis it could be a struggle for him -
Who Was The Best Rider In The World In 2013?
Gavan replied to Gavan's topic in Speedway News and Discussions
so Darcy had the lowest average and the lowest gp finish but is the better rider? -
As it clogged up the Poole thread thought I would set one up. Only Poole fans seem to believe Darcy was the better rider so just want to get a true reflection please as one certain fan thinks only myself and Stevebrum think this way. It could be different end of this season but at the moment who was best in 2

Was Tai The Quickest World Champion?
Gavan replied to phillipsr's topic in Speedway Grand Prix and Speedway World Cup
Are we just looking at gp's because didn't Havvy win it on his debut? -
You wouldn't want that big headed North based on his showing in the Aussie Champs lol
-
Newcastle, Workington, Somerset, Berwick, Ipswich , Peterborough or Rye House
-
definition of a good speedway track is simple....must have dirt. Just because a track is fast like Peterborough doesn't mean it's good racing. Two evenly matched sides makes a good meeting. Ive seen some shockers at Peterborough as well as Lakeside and Eastbourne. Watch PK and Darcy at Lakeside and over the years Loram and Dugard at Lakeside and Eastbourne. Just because tracks are fast the racing looks better but many times I've seen the Panthers gate and go and it's boring. 2 even teams on a track with dirt will lead to good racing irrelevant of track size
-
Why all the fuss over North? The guy has a huge ego and isn't as good as he thinks. Lukas Dryml would be top notch
-
Think we are destined for a place in the play offs personally. Newcastle , Berwick , Somerset , Workington and my surprise packages Rye House look good to me and I'm going for a shock league winners in Berwick
-
Testimonials are thrown out like confetti. Stay 10 years at 1 club like Louis did and you deserve one. Move around a lot then not so. Loram never had a testimonial but had a farewell meeting. Kasprzak doesn't deserve one. Grieves at Glasgow and Lindgren certainly did
-
what a sad pathetic individual you are. Concentrate on your own small little club instead of trolling others. Over the years I've seen some fantastic riders at my club oh sorry you had Stoney! Crawl back under your rock
-
I'm happy with that team. People expecting big things from Gino but he may need time. Key for me is Adam needs to kick on like Heeps did and riding for Lakeside will help him no doubt
-
im assuming your not English because if you are then that's quite sad you feel that way. I didn't think Tai would be top 10 good job he didn't turn it down!
-
Do you people seriously follow speedway? Zagar withdrew late on. Certain riders did not want to travel to be a reserve up to them. Harris was there and able to ride and has grabbed his chance. The system may be flawed but more fool the other riders who didn't or wouldn't travel. There isn't even a discussion to be had really!
-
so please tell me how this is Harris's fault? He shouldn't have been anywhere near the GP challenge we all know that, but what do you expect him to do when asked if he wants to ride turn it down!. He rode in the challenge because he was asked. Is it his fault now that Gollob has pulled out? People should lay off Harris he has just grabbed the opportunity that's all. Correct the system needs changing but for petes sake people he is British just get behind him
-
Some of the comments on here are just ridiculous! Chris Harris is in its not his fault he has just taken the chances he has been given. He is a Brit so instead of slagging him off get behind him! Personally I don't think he will be near the top 8 but then again didn't expect Tai to be top 8 or Iversen and they are world number 1 and 3! So back him and stop laying into him and no I'm not a Coventry or Birmingham fan I support Brits in the World Championship

Team Gb - Middlo Quits!
Gavan replied to Barry The Cat's topic in Speedway Grand Prix and Speedway World Cup
love reading the blue tints missing the point time after time after time. we do not have the class of rider to be a threat at the wtc. Nobody expects a new manager to come in an turn us into finalists!!! missing the point by a mile as always they do in dorset. you expect your manager to motivate, inspire, get decisions correct and at least beat Latvia and the USA. the whole country knew kennett should never have been picked middlo then goes on twitter to rant at fans!! in football you would expect a Mourinho or Wenger to do better than say Jol at Fulham. Doesn't mean they would make Fulham champs just realise a bit of potential. glad he is gone -
the idea may need some work, but i think spectators would appreciate something abit different.
-
Does anyone else agree that some corners or obstacles may liven up a speedway event? Maybe speedway needs to bring itself into the modern day? Some jumps or maybe a street circuit? Talk to me.....
-
Lets be fair the only 2 Brits capable of mixing it a bit at Cardiff as wild cards would be Harris or Cook. Nicholls isnt good enough now. And please no more talk of Kennett King Bridger Barker and the like!! Let Middlo decide. He is Team GB boss and he is good at making the right choices. maybe he could pick that good young English rider at Poole......oh whats his name?...........hmmm
-
Why all the animosity towards Harris? He was knocked out and yes should have been nowhere near the challenge. Fact is he was asked to ride and quite rightly took up the offer as he had a chance to maybe get in the gp's Fact is he did ok in the meeting and is basically a reserve for next years series. No he shouldnt get a wildcard. But to keep having a pop at the guy is a bit much do people expect him to turn down the chances?

Will There Be Any Casualties This Winter
Gavan replied to cityrebel's topic in Speedway News and Discussions
Not awful if you are a Poole fan. They won the league the rest doesnt matter The other clubs should follow the Poole way then the sport would be all hunky-dory -
I understand what you are saying and agree but you never know what might happen. Gollob was seemingly past it when he won. Nobody would have predicted Tai winning it or Iversen 3rd so i will reserve judgement. That said i cant see either making top 8
-
Ridiculous statement! Riss, Dugard , MJJ, Zmarlik, Miedzinski, Jonasson, Franc, and im sure there are many others that ive missed. These riders performed above their ability in the gp as it was in their own country on tracks they knew. As for Lindgren i agree with you on that one.
-
I dont agree with Lindgren should have been Laguta but we dont know the politics. Fact is though who is better than Lindgren? Certainly not anyone who finished below him and if you think Janowski or Dudek or MJJ are better than Lindgren then thats a joke as Freddie is the better rider than all those. I wouldnt have minded Dudek as a bit of excitement.
