  1. The best person Mark ever worked under was Colin Hill but yes Mark got on fine with Middlo
  2. Give it a rest Im sad and deluded because i dont believe Middlo is as good as Rosco or Adams You need to understand what an opinion is
  3. I just dont see Middlo as the greatest manager thats all its called my opinion. He has had the best financial backing over the years at Poole and has been able to change riders as and when Poole need to. In my opinion Rosco and Adams have proved they can do it at other clubs with less resources. Lets see how Middlo can do at a different club is all im saying. Poole fans will quite rightly feel he is the best because he has managed their club but i think any manager could have managed Poole..............he was awful as Team GB boss.
  4. Be nice if Middlo went and managed another club and see if he can be successful without firstly Fords money and without changing large numbers of riders throughout the season. If he can do it at another club then maybe he can be mentioned in the same breath as Rosco and Adams.....until then he will only ever be seen as a good manager rather than a great one
  5. On entertainment value yes he is behind those On success and greatness he is quite a way ahead of all 3
  6. Sadly Cravens career was cut short so he may have proved the better rider. And yes i will say Woffinden was better than Craven Its like some people believe Darcy was better than Tai...........he wasnt and sadly again we will never know if he could have been. Its like judging snooker as an example. Jimmy White and Alex Higgins were amazingly talented but not as good as Davis or Hendry. And so as good as someone like PC was , he isnt as good as Tai. My favourite British rider ever was Mark Loram............so much better to watch than Tai..........but im not daft enough to think he was the better rider
  7. Surely this topic has been done to death. Tai Woffinden is simply the best British rider there has ever been. Its not even up for discussion Was he the most exciting to watch? No, PC , Morton, Carter, Lee and Loram were my favourite riders to watch and may have had more 'natural' talent but that doesnt equate to success. A measure of who is the best has to go on success doesnt it. Therefore my idea of the top British riders ever would be 1. Woffinden 2. Craven 3. Collins 4. Lee 5. Loram 6. Havelock 7. Price 8. Carter 9. Morton 10. Not sure maybe Jessup or Nicholls
  8. Chris Louis was winning the heat in question and with Screen in third it ensured that Joe didn’t make a run off with Loram Louis and Hamill for 3 spots. Donkey kept Screen behind him and meant there was no need for a run off. Donkey hadn’t qualified he was already out and he blocked Screens every move. Dont forget Donkeys partner was Pat Louis who was firstly Chris’s mum and secondly mother to Joanne who at that time was Mark Loram partner so of course Donkey wanted those 2 through.
  9. He was put in the British league for Hackney in 1987 when all top flight teams had to promote a junior. Marks job was basically to beat the other number 7 which he more than often did along with the number sixes and second strings. Hackney dropped down in 1988 and Mark became a top National League rider as it was then forming a potent spearhead with Andy Galvin and a certain Chris Louis at reserve. He moved to Ipswich in 1989 with the John Louis/Mike Western promotion along with Moggo and Chris Louis. He didnt have such a great season in 1989 as he had issues changing from Weslake to Godden, though he was able to win the National League Riders title and Coventry towards the end of the season. Mark over the years became known as a 'miss the gate' rider but i can assure you that in his first 2 seasons in 1987 and 1988 his gating was up there with the best. I think as he became older and taller it became an issue
  10. If I’m honest no never expected that certainly not over a gp season never thought Mark could string together 6 consistent gp’s together as sometimes certain tracks wouldn’t suit and could easily make the final one gp and score poorly the next one. On a given day on the right track (Vojens or Bydgoszcz) he could have won a one off. My uncle used to sponsor him at 15 and at many grass track meetings , Mark , Screeny and Schoey would pop over to my uncles van for a sandwich and sausage rolls. Watched him progress right through and it was so sad my auntie died in feb 2000 and never sad her ‘Marky’ win the world title. Mark being the man he is came to her funeral and to this day I’m still in touch with his old mechanic Jorge
  11. My favourite or should i say memorable races will always involve Mark Loram 1997 British Final Run off................stands to reason why this race should be up there amongst the best if not the best run off ever...and a couple of years later they did it again in the heats this time 1999 Swedish Grand Prix............Mark was the best in the world possibly of all time, at getting his wheels in line and making long straights, Billy Hamill always used to say he never knew how to stop Mark from making that long run up the inside......this gp final was the best example , stalking Nilsen before twice having to make the pass. 2001 Polish league match.........Go find this on You Tube... Mark v the Gollob brothers , Tomasz looking for Mark and basically almost causing a crash twice and making Mark shut off abruptly.... before Mark split them going into the last lap and then passing Jacek down the back straight......Mark rarely showed emotion but his gesture crossing the line and then his shake of the head on the slow down lap sort of gave away his displeasure at Tomasz's antics
  12. My favourite rider of all time was Mark Loram right from the point of watching him as a mascot and my uncle sponsoring him all the way through to the Holy Grail. It doesnt however cloud my judgement as to his ability.......He was a one time world champ whose overall form was worse than most other world champions..............couldnt ever stand Havelock but without doubt in 1992 he was the dominant rider on the world stage that year bar perhaps Per Jonsson. I never saw Fundin ride and not much of Mauger either but im not foolish enough to think Mark was better than either of those. But yet out of Rickardsson and Loram i know who i would prefer to watch and pay to see
  13. ive never understood the need for all riders to have the same set of kevlars and team suits so i get why Poole dont do it. I always remember as a young lad going to Rye House and Ipswich and buying the little riders toys and racing them on the kitchen table..........Cox in black and white checks....Naylor all black. Mullarkey in white and red..........Preben Eriksen all yellow......John Cook in grey........Siggy in white with the stars and stripes...........different leathers made it more fun for me back then and i still prefer it that way....dont like everyone decked out in the same stuff.......just my opinion
  14. Im still about just no need to post on this thread the Poole team is done and dusted The events of the final last season.........the fact my team have stupidly moved up and built an average looking side.....one man owning 3 clubs..........means my interest in this once great sport has dwindled somewhat.......like a lot of people with family ive got better things to spend my hard earned cash on
  15. Been on this forum a long time over 5 years..............took plenty of abuse , flack call it what you like But ive never felt the need to either delete my account and start again or change my name which makes people look a bit sad, needy and a tad pathetic Never had more than the one account.....if people dont like me or what i post then it doesnt affect me that i feel the need to be someone else. To be fair even people like Starman and Shovlar with the amount of stuff they get thrown at them have only ever had the 1 account
  16. Oh your back again..........ready to have pop for no reason other than you have nothing better to do.....strange For what its worth ive included the last few posts of mine on the Poole thread Now please find the 'digs' at Poole or their fans If your life on this forum involves you coming on here to act the hard mad then its quite sad. If you want to debate like most Poole fans do (apart from Shovvy, Lisa and Starman and the multi alias Gater thing) then please go ahead But you literally just posted about me.....................troll and obsessed now run along
  17. I could give you Jack but in my opinion Holder isnt as good as Fricke now.
  18. He didnt blow it as such as the track was suited to the inside gates for sure, but he was third for the first couple of laps and then Holder passed him. He should at least be performing as well as Tungate I watched the meeting live and he was fine when gating from the inside gates but as soon as he was behind, his riding style just isnt smooth, hanging off of the bike at all angles and if anything going backwards in the race
  19. Chris Holder isnt a realistic contender on a world stage anymore but has had a great career. The Holder of 3-4 years ago would destroy this field..fact is his younger brother is better now along with the like of Fricke
  20. I watched it live Jack gated, looked round at the end of lap one and then the next turn drifted wide and his brother come under him and Jack made no attempt to defend. Not saying he should or shouldnt have done it but it was obvious
  21. Nice of Jack Holder to let Chris come through in the last chance race
  22. Although isnt there qualifying places up for grabs for the gp qualifiers hence Chris Holder is riding. Looks like the track isnt great in this current round with inside gates favourite Kurtz going a bit better but Holder being left behind by Fricke and Tungate in the run for gold. Yet again Lidsey impressing beating Holder and Kurtz what a steal he could turn out to be
  23. I’ve said all along that Heeps , King , Lawson and Allen would be a good start and a solid 4 riders.... it’s the other 3 what matter
